NICMAR Pune: 6 Answered Questions

How is the scope of 1 year courses such as quantity surveying and health and environment safety from NICMAR?

Ritesh Prasad
Tithi AggrawalLives in New Delhi

These two courses, PGP in QSCM and HSEM, are offered only at the Hyderabad campus. As both these courses are very specialized so they ensure core jobs in core sectors.

The main reasons why most people feel reluctant to join these courses are;

  • As these courses are very profile specific so the scope gets further narrowed down.
  • As these courses are offered by only NICMAR in India so people feel alone and don't have much scope.

Nevertheless, if you are really interested in the above courses then you should go for them because they are really good. PGP in QSCM will open the construction sector and the PGP in HSEM will bring opportunities in petroleum, manufacturing, and mining.

Which course is best to do from NICMAR that has better future aspects?

Nitin WadhwaStudied PGP-REUIM from National Institute of Construction Management and Research

At NICMAR, there is no such thing as the best course. All courses are at par in terms of job profiles, packages, recruiters, and others. However, PGP ACM is the flagship program by the institute.

PGP REUIM course recorded stellar placements in the past year with the top recruiters like KPMG, L&T Realty, Oberoi, PwC, Samsung, and CBRE. Recently, even PGP IFDM students had performed exceptionally well.

In the end, it depends upon your knowledge and skills. Decide based on the course curriculum rather than peeping into the placement statistics, as it is subject to the caliber of the batch each year.

As an electrical engineer, should I join the NICMAR IFDM course?

Aastha Anand
Roshni PradhanPGP Advanced Construction Management & Project Management, NICMAR (2018)

NICMAR Pune will not offer you the best education, not only for electrical engineering but for anyone pursuing a specific stream of discipline. It will be best if you avoid joining it.

One of my cousins mentions that he lost two years of his time investing energy in this institute when it allegedly did not quite fill the void for him. This scenario has been for the campus of Hyderabad. In a nutshell, you should research thoroughly about other campuses of the same and decide if it is a fruitful choice nonetheless.

Is the PGP-IFDM course at Nicmar Pune a good course from an industry and future point of view?

Surbhi AmarnathPost Graduation Program Advanced Construction Management, National Institute of Construction Management and Research, Pune (2017)

Out of the five campuses, NICMAR Pune is one of the institutes under the brand name offering PGP courses in construction and management.

  • The two-year PGP Infrastructure Finance and Development Management (PGP IFDM) is the most underrated course in the institute.
  • It gives proper exposure to financial concepts related to civil engineering. It also helps to develop techno-managerial leaders.
  • The best part about the course is you may get jobs in the banking sector, which is an impossible task with ACM and PEM courses.
  • The batch size of PGP IFDM is only 42 students. It is very little in front of the large batch size of 467 for PGP ACM.

Overall, the course is great. There are high probabilities for IFDM students to get placed in renowned companies.
