Despite being only three years old, IIIT, Surat was given the status of Institute of National Importance by an act of Parliament of India on 5th of February 2021. It has an industry-oriented curriculum that students have found vastly useful. The college was established in 2017 with initial mentoring from SVNIT on whose campus it is situated.
IIIT Surat provides B.Tech courses with two specialisations, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering. The seat allocation is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority(JoSSA). The annual intake of students is 66 for each course, according to JoSSA.
Admissions are based on the JEE MAINS Entrance Exam. The closing cutoffs of last year for Computer Science and Electronics and Communication were 18473 and 24967 respectively. Based on the rank scored, candidates can get admission through JoSSA counselling
