CSMU B.Tech (IT) FAQs
Ques. Does CSMU B.Tech (IT) require JEE Main, or is CUET-UG sufficient for admission?
Ans. CSMU primarily accepts CUET-UG scores for B.Tech (IT) admission and does not mandate JEE Main. This is a significant advantage for students who have not appeared in JEE Main but have a good CUET-UG score. CSMU is listed as a CUET-participating institution on the NTA portal, and B.Tech programmes are open for CUET-UG applicants. JEE Main qualified candidates may also apply and their scores may be considered. Students who have not appeared in either exam can apply directly on merit through the university portal.
Ques. Is CSMU B.Tech (IT) AICTE-approved? Will the degree be valid for government jobs and PSU recruitment?
Ans. Yes, CSMU's B.Tech programmes are AICTE-approved. The degree is valid for government jobs, PSU recruitment (GATE-based), and higher studies including M.Tech, MBA, and MS abroad. CSMU is a UGC-recognised private university, and its B.Tech degree is equivalent to any other AICTE-approved B.Tech degree in India. Graduates can appear for GATE, CAT, GRE, and other competitive exams.
Ques. What is the difference between B.Tech (IT) and B.Tech (CSE) at CSMU? Which should I choose?
Ans. B.Tech (IT) focuses on information systems, networking, database management, web technologies, and IT infrastructure, while B.Tech (CSE) has a stronger emphasis on core computer science subjects like algorithms, theory of computation, compiler design, and software development. The fee for both is the same at INR 1,48,000/year. If you are interested in software development, AI/ML, or research, B.Tech (CSE) or B.Tech (CSE-AI&ML) may be more suitable. If you are interested in IT infrastructure, networking, systems administration, or IT management, B.Tech (IT) is a good choice. Both degrees are equally valued by most employers.
Ques. Is lateral entry available for B.Tech (IT) at CSMU? What is the process?
Ans. Yes, CSMU offers lateral entry into the 2nd year of B.Tech (IT) for diploma holders. The lateral entry programme is of 3-year duration with a fee of INR 1,35,000 per year (total INR 4,05,000). Eligibility requires a 3-year Diploma in Engineering/Technology with minimum 45% marks. Admission is through a separate lateral entry process; candidates should apply through the university's online portal. The lateral entry fee structure is slightly lower than the regular B.Tech fee.
Ques. What are the placement opportunities for B.Tech (IT) graduates from CSMU?
Ans. CSMU has a dedicated Training and Placement Cell that facilitates campus placements. The university is located in Panvel, Navi Mumbai, which is close to major IT parks and corporate offices in Navi Mumbai, Belapur, and Airoli. Companies from IT, BFSI, and consulting sectors visit for campus recruitment. While CSMU is a relatively new university (established 2021), it has been building industry partnerships. Students are also encouraged to pursue internships and industry projects as part of the curriculum. For the most current placement data, students should contact the university's placement cell directly.
Ques. Can I pursue M.Tech after B.Tech (IT) from CSMU? Does CSMU offer M.Tech?
Ans. Yes, CSMU offers M.Tech as a 2-year full-time programme at a fee of INR 1,00,000 per year (INR 2,00,000 total). B.Tech (IT) graduates are eligible to apply for M.Tech at CSMU. Admission to M.Tech is typically through GATE scores or merit. CSMU also offers a Teaching Assistantship (TA) of INR 15,000 per month for M.Tech students, subject to availability and interview. As a CSMU alumnus, you may also be eligible for the alumni scholarship (25% fee concession, up to INR 30,000) for the M.Tech programme.
