Sandip University Diploma FAQs
Ques. Why does Sandip University not participate in DCECE counselling for Diploma admissions?
Ans. DCECE (Diploma Combined Entrance Competitive Examination) state counselling is run by BCECEB for government and state-aided polytechnics in Bihar. Sandip University is a private university established under the Bihar Private Universities Act, 2013, and is not part of the state government polytechnic system. It runs its own SU-JEE entrance test and direct merit-based admissions independently. This means DCECE rank is not required here, but it also means students cannot use state scholarship slots tied to DCECE counselling at this institution.
Ques. Is a Sandip University Diploma recognized for lateral entry to B.Tech at other universities?
Ans. Yes. A Diploma in Engineering from Sandip University, being AICTE-approved and from a UGC-recognized private university, is accepted for lateral entry to 2nd-year B.Tech at most AICTE-approved institutions across India, including through state lateral entry tests like OJEE, JELET, and others. Students should verify recognition with the target B.Tech college before applying, as some states have additional domicile or institutional requirements for their lateral entry counselling.
Ques. How does the 100% scholarship at Sandip University actually work in practice?
Ans. The 100% scholarship at Sandip University covers tuition fees only. Other components such as development fees, exam fees, and hostel charges are not waived. From the total fee of INR 2,49,500, tuition fees are INR 2,34,000 and other charges INR 15,500. A 100% tuition waiver would bring the effective payment down to INR 15,500 over 3 years, plus hostel if needed. Scholarship seats are limited to 30% of the total intake and are awarded based on SU-JEE score and Class 10 marks at the time of admission.
Ques. What are the practical job prospects after a Diploma in Engineering from Sandip University?
Ans. A Diploma in Engineering opens entry-level roles in manufacturing, maintenance, construction supervision, and technical support, typically at ITI/Diploma-grade salaries of INR 1.5 to 3 LPA in the initial years. Bihar’s industrial base is limited compared to states like Maharashtra or Gujarat, so students planning to work in core industries should be willing to relocate. Most Diploma graduates either pursue lateral entry B.Tech to improve placement prospects, or appear for state government junior engineer exams where a Diploma is the minimum qualification.
Ques. Can ITI certificate holders apply directly to Sandip University Diploma 2nd year?
Ans. Yes. Lateral entry to the 2nd year of the Diploma programme is available for ITI certificate holders, subject to Sandip University’s lateral entry eligibility conditions. Students should confirm the minimum pass marks required in ITI and the process for lateral entry application directly with the university admissions office, as the lateral entry process is handled separately from the regular SU-JEE pathway. The lateral entry programme is 2 years in duration rather than the regular 3 years.
