In short
BNMU costs less, but Purnea has the higher pay estimate and more seats. If you live closer to Purnea and clear both lists, take this page's seat; if fee is the first worry, keep BNMU close.
In short
TMBU has a higher pay estimate and score line, but it costs a little more. If your score clears both, compare travel cost before you decide; if you need Purnea city, this page stays practical.
In short
LNMU has more seats, but its pay estimate is lower than this page's. If you want a bigger batch, keep it near Purnea; if pay matters more, prefer this page.
In short
Magadh University costs more and has the same seat count, while the pay estimate is lower. If Purnea gives you a seat, take it first and use Magadh only as a backup.
In short
Patna University pays more in this table, but its score line is higher and seats are fewer. If your score is strong, compare it; if you need an easier local seat, Purnea fits better.

FAQs on Purnea University M.Sc Zoology
Straight answers to what students ask before they decide.
Is M.Sc Zoology at Purnea University worth the fee?▾
Yes, if you want a low-cost PG degree near home. The full fee without hostel is INR 22,000, and the pay estimate used here is INR 3 LPA. That makes the fee small compared with the first working year. Check the fee block before you pay.
Should I take this course if my score is near the cutoff?▾
It depends on your category. The General score range used here closes at 72, while BC or EBC is lower at 68. If your score is just above the range, keep checking every merit list. Do not miss the document check date after your name appears.
What job can I get after this course?▾
Most students use this degree for teaching, lab work, research exams or local biology jobs. The pay estimate on this page is INR 3 LPA and the placement rate is 50%. If you want a private company job first, ask the department about placement support before joining.
Who should take M.Sc Zoology here?▾
Take it if you want Zoology study at a state university in Purnea. The department page lists 60 seats, so the class is not very large. It suits students who plan teaching tests, lab posts or research exams and can study without a costly city move.
Who should skip this course?▾
Skip it if you need clear company hiring on campus. Public placement data for this PG course is thin, and the career routes are mostly teaching, lab work and exams. If you want a company job right after PG, check placement support in writing before you pay.
Is this course right for higher studies and research?▾
Yes, if you use the two years well. Zoology gives a base for research exams, lab work and teaching. The course structure covers broad biology topics and project work. Speak to the department early about a guide, because research plans need steady lab work.
Is the fee worth it against the average pay?▾
Yes, the numbers are easy to defend. The full fee without hostel is INR 22,000 and the average pay estimate is INR 3 LPA, so the ROI tile is very high. The real check is job support, so ask where recent students worked.
Should I wait a year for a better university?▾
Wait only if you have a clear exam or research plan. This course has a low fee and 60 seats, so losing a year for a small jump may not help. If you already clear the score range and need a nearby PG seat, joining is sensible.
Is Purnea city right for this course?▾
Yes, if you live in or near Purnea division. Studying near home can cut rent and travel cost. The trade-off is fewer large private biology employers nearby. If you need internships, ask the department where students find lab or teaching work.
Can I pay the fee in parts?▾
Yes. The tuition fee is shown as INR 5,000 a semester for four semesters. That means the main fee is paid across the course, not all at once. Keep extra money for forms, papers and living cost if you are not staying at home.
Do girls or SC and ST students get fee help?▾
The university notice for the PG list said no admission fee from SC, ST and all category girl candidates for that admission step. Scholarship help can also apply through state or central schemes. Carry category and income papers, because the office checks them before fee help.
How do I get admission to M.Sc Zoology?▾
Fill the Purnea University PG form and choose Zoology. The university prepares a subject merit list from graduation marks. If your name appears, report with original papers for document check and pay the fee that applies to your category. Missing that step can cost the seat.
