    Indiana University International Student Admissions

    Applicants from countries where the native language is not English must submit scores of English language proficiency tests. The minimum requirements for undergraduate applicants are given in the table below:

    Exemptions:

    The candidate can be exempted from submitting the test scores if:

    • The candidate has completed at least level 7 of the IEP program at Bloomington
    • Been a citizen of at least three years of an English dominant speaking country 

    The graduate applicants must fulfill the test requirements of the Indiana academic English test. TOEFL scores varying for different courses may be accepted. Scores of Duo Lingo English test will also be accepted but in addition scores of other English language proficiency test scores will be required. However, students failing to do so must agree to take up English language programs offered by the university.

    Visa Process for International Students

    International applicants can start applying for an international visa once the enrolment deposit has been confirmed.

    The following process must be followed in order to obtain a valid visa to study in the US:

    1. Upon payment of the enrolment deposit, you will be provided with the I-20 or DS-2019 form;
    2. After receiving the form, the candidate can start applying for an F-1 or J-1 visa to Study in the USA;
    3. The candidate must then pay the SEVIS I-901 fees;
    4. After the payment of the SEVIS fee, the candidate can then schedule a visa interview at the nearest US embassy of their home country.

    Please note that the student must arrive in the US not prior to 30 days of the commencement of their classes.
