Illinois State University is less selective in choosing its prospective students with an admission rate of 89.9%. The university offers over 165 undergraduate and over 95 graduate programs, for which a wide number of applications are received every academic year.

Illinois State University International Admissions

The academic requirements for international applicants vary slightly from that of domestic students. In the following section, these requirements have been discussed below as per the level of study:

Undergraduate Students: International 1st-year applicants need not submit the ACT/SAT scores unless they have completed high school form a US institution.

The international undergraduate students need to submit a completed application through ‘INTO Illinois State Application’.

Transfer Students: It is essential to complete a fixed number of required credits from the previous institution depending on the course requirements and hold a good academic record.

Graduate Students: Depending upon the course requirements, the applicants are required to submit GRE or GMAT scores.

International graduate applicants need to submit a completed application through ‘Student Application Portal’ if pursuing a Master’s program and not being referred by an INTO Educational Counselor or interested in pursuing a graduate certificate or a doctoral program. Otherwise, you are required to submit the application via ‘INTO Illinois State Application’.

Furthermore, Indian students with a 3-year UG program are eligible to apply for graduate programs if they:

  • Have graduated from a NAAC ‘A’-accredited institution and have secured an aggregate of 55%
  • Have graduated from a NAAC ‘B’-accredited institution and have secured an aggregate of 60%
  • Have completed 1 year of PG course in the same field or have completed master’s in some other stream
