As the youngest institution in the CSU system, California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) has a moderately selective admissions policy. The acceptance rate for fall 2018 was 83%. With 26 and 37 academic majors and minors respectively, the university offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The average freshmen GPA at CSUCI is 3.2.

  • UG freshman applicants are only accepted for the fall semester.
  • Undergraduate students are required to meet the CSU Eligibility Index, which is the combination of high school GPA and either the SAT (critical reading/Evidence-Based Reading and Writing + math) or ACT composite scores.
  • The minimum SAT and ACT composite scores accepted are 3570 and 842 respectively.

California State University Channel Islands International Admissions

The admission procedure for international and domestic applicants are similar. However, international applicants applying for CSUCI are required to fulfill additional requirements. These include additional documents, Proof of ELP, and completing the visa process.

Admission Requirements for International Students

  • Official transcripts are required from all post-secondary institutions (colleges, universities, training schools) attended by the applicant.
    • All documents must be in English or must be officially translated in English.
    • The official transcript must be submitted in its original language along with the English translation.
  • Standardized test scores for both UG and PG courses.
  • Copy of the applicant’s passport.
  • Financial Affidavit and Proof of adequate financial resources.
  • English language proficiency test scores.

English Language Requirements for International Students

Visa Process for International Applicants

The below-mentioned criteria need to be fulfilled by the candidates for enrolling to various courses offered by the university.

  • All international candidates will be issued Form I-20 from the university to successfully apply for the admission
  • Documentation including medical, flight details, etc should be fulfilled.
  • The following documents must be provided in order to receive the Form I-20
    • Copy of Passport
    • Proof of Financial Support
    • Bank Statement
    • Sponsor letter
  • Completely fill the I-20 form and must pay the fee of SEVIS-F1 fee of $500.
  • Applicants are later required to apply for the F-1 visa or M-1 visa based on the eligibility. Submit the form and pay the application fee
  • The visa interview will be scheduled after filling of the form.

CSUCI Undergraduate Admission Requirements

Also, having a higher GPA than the class average or submitting SAT/ACT scores though the same is not mandatory, can be favorable in the admission decision.
