Castleton University Programs, Campus, and Residence

Programs

Castleton University has 18 departments under which they provide 75 study programs in the field of liberal arts, science, and business. The undergraduate program provides emphasis on liberal arts and professional studies, while also offering graduate and research programs in various departments. The university offers:

  • Undergraduate programs with 43 majors and 54 minors that include programs like Business administration, media and communication, graphic designing, and health science.
  • The post-graduate program in 9 different disciplines including MBA and Masters in leadership.
  • A variety of professional certificate programs in both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Surrounded by scenic mountains and lakes, Castleton campus is spread over the 165-acre lush green environment.

The campus includes 21 buildings, designed to provide students opportunities to expand the learning environment with the most up to date technology. The academic buildings are equipped with –

Housing Facilities

The academic campus is surrounded by 11 residential buildings that provide a wide range of housing options.

Housing Application

All full-time, matriculated registered students are eligible for on-campus housing. The applicant should sign a housing contract and book campus meal plan, for the full academic year, in advance.

  • Suite Style: It is a twin sharing room. One common hall connects 3-4 rooms.
  • Corridor Style: The rooms here are twin sharing or triple sharing. All rooms are connected to a co-ed hallway with 1-2 bathrooms on each floor.
  • Pod Style: these are residences houses consisting of “6 pods”, two common lounges and a kitchen area in each house. The Pods has 3 twin sharing rooms with common bathroom for each pod.
  • Apartment Style: The University apartment houses are located 10 miles away from the campus. The apartment offers single, double, triple and quadruple bedroom options. The features include hall, kitchen, and parking facilities.

Students can also look for off campus student housing to stay in the US to complete their higher education.

All you need to know about the Admission Process

Castleton University considers international applicants as students holding temporary non-immigrant visa to study in the USA. The admission requirements for international applicants vary from that of domestic applicants. The Application Forms are reviewed and admissions are awarded on a rolling basis.

The applications are accepted twice a year that is in January and August. The admission requirements are as follows:

  • The applicant for Castleton University should be qualified academically, as mentioned by the university.
  • The official transcripts should be sent to the university directly.
  • International applicants whose language of education is not English should prove their English Language proficiency through IELTS, ELS, or TOEFL.
  • An International Student Certification of Finances to be submitted showing sufficient funds to cover tuition fees and living expenses for at least the next 6 months.
  • The applicant should provide a professional resume or a portfolio of previous along with the application form.
  • A statement of purpose and letter for recommendation is mandatory for admission.
  • The applicants for the MBA program should provide the scores of GMAT or GRE.
  • International applicants should also provide proof of financial stability and health insurance before admission.

Financial Aid

Castleton University provides financial aid in the form of scholarships for international students. International students are eligible for a partial merit-based scholarship ranging from 2,500 USD – full tuition. The scholarships are awarded based on the available funds and on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Maple Scholarship:

The scholarship reduces the out-of-state tuition to the equivalent of Vermont resident tuition.

Eligibility:

  • The applicant must have completed a rigorous, college preparatory high school curriculum with success as determined by Castleton Admissions and achieved satisfactory standardized test scores.
  • The recipient should live on campus to receive this scholarship.

Castleton Achievement Scholarship:

Scholarship Amount: 6,000 USD - 13,500 USD

Eligibility:

  • The applicant’s academic performance and standardized test scores will be considered as scholarship criteria.
  • The scholarship can be extended continuously on full-time enrollment, but the recipient should maintain a grade point of 2.5 out of 4.0

International Student Scholarship:

Scholarship Amount: 2,500 USD per year

Work while study

Castleton University provides on and off-campus student employment options for domestic and international students like Curricular Practical Training and Optional Practical Training. The students with F1- visa and J1 visa are allowed to work on-campus.

  • Students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week when classes are in session and 40 hours per week during breaks.

As a student at Castleton University, I am able to build some various critical skills while examining the social, political, and historical impacts of crime and the criminal justice system to gain a broader understanding of human behavior and diversity.
