Founded in 1782, Washington College was the first college chartered in the sovereign United States of America that is focused on offering quality education to the students. The college is home to more than 128 international students from around the world, as well as several students who hold dual citizenship between the U.S. and another country, are also studying at the college. Washington College is a regionally accredited college to offer more than 45 academic programs to the students. Also, the college is ranked #105 in National Liberal Arts Colleges. Campus

  • The campus is located at Chestertown, a peaceful location on Maryland’s Eastern Shore is considered as an adventurous place for the one who loves the outdoor activities.
  • The campus is located 90 minutes drive from Washington DC, Baltimore, and Philadelphia and is spread on 120 acres of green land. The campus has a nationally recognized sports venue and brick paths that connect state-of-the-art learning spaces.
  • While studying at Washington College, the students get opportunities to take part in numerous cultural exchange on-campus programs, Cultural Ambassadors Programs and International Student & Community Mentor Program that are organized throughout the year.

Residence

  • There are a lot of great opportunities for the students who chose to live on the campus. From living in a themed hall to becoming a Resident Assistant, the students can explore unlimited ways to build a strong community on campus.
  • Students living on campus have to pay for the meal plans as well. The award-winning dining hall is one of the popular options for food among the students.
  • In 2009, the Chester and Sassafras dorms were constructed that accommodate more than 200 students. Later in 2011, Washington College formed an agreement with Kent Crossing Apartments to accommodate additional students.
  • The Standard Dormitory charges are USD 6,365.

Programs

  • The students can choose from various majors and programs that are designed for them and can be selected based on their skills and area of interest. There are more than about 45 Academic Programs offered at the college.
  • The students get a chance to work closely with the experienced faculty on projects they are passionate about. The independent research facilitated by programs like the Cater Society and Toll Fellows and hands-on learning provided offered at Signature Centers, the students get access to wonderful opportunities no matter what they’re studying.
  • The college operates on a two-semester academic calendar year and the majority of courses are worth four credits. However, the students can also opt for one-, two-, and three-credit courses.

Financial Aid for International Students

  • The University offers student loans and various scholarships for international students to study in the US. Online application and submission of transcripts are required to avail the scholarships and loans.
  • All the international students will be considered for merit-based scholarships that vary from $10,000 to $30,000 annually.
  • The students studying at the college will also be selected for departmental scholarships which range from $1000-$5000 a year. The amount will be in addition to the admissions scholarship, if granted.

Alumni

  • For more than 60 years, the college has been recognizing outstanding Washington College alumni with awards presented on behalf of the Alumni Association.
  • One of the types of award, Alumni Horizon Ribbon Award is given to the alumnus who has ave demonstrated amazing leadership, service or scholarship in a particular area.
  • The alumni can come for regular get-togethers, which includes the annual Toasts to George that take place all over the country.
  • The alumni can show their extended support by giving to The Washington Fund, which helps in shaping the quality of life on campus, day in and day out.

Placement
