Illinois Tech International Admissions

The admission process for domestic and international students are both conducted online. However, international students have additional requirements and must be careful with their visa process.

Admission Requirements for International Students

  • The application fee to apply to Illinois Tech is $75 for graduate students whereas it is free for undergraduate applicants.
  • High school transcripts are inclusive of grades from the last three years with a GPA of 3.5 and above.
  • ACT or SAT exam results are required for most courses
  • GRE/GMAT exam scores may be needed as per program requirement.
  • Proof of English proficiency

English Proficiency Test Score for International Students

International students may submit either TOEFL or IELTS scores to prove English proficiency.

Some courses also accept PTE scores.

Conditional Admission - International applicants who are interested in studying Illinois Tech, and who meet academic and financial requirements but do not meet the minimum English proficiency test requirements, may be offered conditional admission. This allows students to increase English language proficiency through intense English-language programs before taking academic coursework at Illinois Tech.

Visa Process for International Students

  • International applicants shall be issued Form I-20 from the university.
  • Applicants must provide the following documents to receive the I-20 Form:
    • Copy of passport
    • Proof of financial support (Affidavit and Bank Statement)
  • The I-20 must be completed with accurate information such as name, biographical information, and program information as this will be used for the visa stamp in the applicant’s passport.
  • Students have to pay the SEVIS I-901 fee and print the receipt for the interview.
  • Applicants then need to apply for the F-1 visa, submit the form and make the required payment.
  • Finally, students have to attend the scheduled interview at a suitable U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Illinois Institute of Technology Undergraduate admissions
