Cleveland State University International Admissions

The Center for International Services & Programs is the central office for international activity on campus. They help connect the international students to campus and the local community through International Student Orientation, immigration advising, social events, and cultural adjustment support.

International Student Services is a department within the Center for International Services & Programs that provides immigration advising and academic support to F-1, F-2, and J-1 students. Sponsored students also receive specialized advising through this office.

Following are the requirements for international admissions:

  • Transcripts: All secondary school records, including certificates. All school records are required to be submitted in the original language accompanied by a certified English translation.
  • Cumulative secondary school GPA should be equivalent to a 2.3 on the US grading scale for most programs.
  • The exceptions to the GPA requirement are The College of Engineering, which requires a 3.0 score and the College of Education and Human Services, which requires a 2.5 score.
  • Proof of English proficiency.
  • ACT and SAT scores
  • Financial verification: In order to receive a certificate of eligibility for a student visa (Form I-20 or Form DS-2019) from Cleveland State University (CSU), all international students must submit documentation of financial support for one academic year.

The minimum requirements for Cleveland State University admissions in undergraduate programs are:

Transfer: CSU’s Transfer Center provides transfer students with the resources they need for a smooth transition to CSU. Transfer applicants are required to have a 2.0 cumulative GPA at all previous colleges and universities combined. If the transfer students have fewer than 12-semester credits, they must meet freshman admission requirements as well as the transfer GPA requirement.
