Programs, Campus and Accommodation

Courses

Adelphi University offers a plethora of courses for international students which includes 60 undergraduate majors and 65 graduate programs through its 8 schools and colleges. The schools are namely, College of Arts and Sciences, Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology, Honors College, College of Education and Health Sciences, Robert B. Willumstad School of Business, Academics, College of Nursing and Public Health and School of Social Work.

The institute also has partnerships with outside providers across 120 countries to help students with study abroad options. It also provides various dual-degree programs in the ranging fields of Dentistry, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Optometry, Osteopathic Medicine and Physical Therapy. 

Some of the top graduate programs available at the institute are Accounting MBA, Computer Science MS, Finance MBA, etc.

Campus

The Adelphi University has one main campus and three off-campus centers- Hudson Valley, Suffolk County and Manhattan Center. The main campus of the university is located at Garden City, New York and has been home to the university’s campus since 1929.

Manhattan center is located at 75 Varick Street on the corner of Varick and Canal Streets and covers more than 31,000 square feet of area that includes classrooms, student lounge areas, conference rooms, a research branch library and technology labs.

Suffolk County center offers various professional and graduate courses through Hauppauge Education and Conference Center.

The Hudson Valley Center is located on the fourth floor of the MidHudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, New York. The center offers four technology enhanced classrooms, a computer lab and a library.

Housing and Residential Facilities

  • The Adelphi University has 7 on-campus residence halls namely Chapman Hall, Earle Hall, Eddy Hall, Linen Hall, Residence Hall A, Residence Hall B and Waldo Hall.
  • A student can apply for these halls through an online application and a non-refundable fee of 300 USD.
  • Each of these residence halls have fully furnished rooms, large lounges with kitchens, free Wi-Fi, resident assistants and much more.
  • However, all the residence halls have unique features and facilities like some have AC rooms, some have big rooms, etc. Students can apply on the basis of his/her choice.
  • Along with the on-campus residence halls, the university also provides a comprehensive guide to students for off-campus housing.

Adelphi University Admission Process

How to apply?

Application Portal – An International student can apply for admission at the Adelphi University through Official Application or Common Application.

Application Fee – Students have to pay a non-refundable application fee of 40 USD in online mode through a credit card or electronic checks or in offline mode through checks and money orders payable to Adelphi University and drawn on a U.S. bank.

Documents to be submitted-

  1. A personal statement or essay of 500 words or less
  2. Official secondary school/university transcripts to be submitted directly to Adelphi University
  3. SAT or ACT scores- Average SAT score of 1175 and ACT score of 24
  4. TOEFL/IELTS scores- A minimum score of 80 in TOEFL iBT and 6.5 on IELTS

It should be noted students can submit either SAT/ACT scores or TOEFL/IELTS.

Adelphi University Cost of Accommodation

Scholarships and Financial Aid

International students are eligible for merit, talent and athletic scholarships at the university. The students are considered for the scholarship after they complete their application. Students are not required to fill any separate form for scholarships. Some of the scholarships for international students to study in the USA available at the university are as follows:

  • Panther Academic Success Scholarship for Undergraduate Studies

Awarded on the basis of great academic track record with minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. Students applying for this award shall not be eligible for any other award from the university.

  • High School Achievement, Deans and Presidential Awards

Award amount ranges from 10,000 to 28,000 USD per year. Provided to freshman students entering university.

  • Academic Talent Combination Award

Offering on the basis of audition, portfolio or academic track record. Note that other conditions might apply as well.

The minimum scholarship offered is 10,000 USD and it varies with grades and test scores of the candidates.Candidates are normally notified about the scholarship within three weeks of their acceptance. Students can also apply for loans for studying at the university.
