International

University of Houston International Student Admissions

The admission requirements for International students are a little different from domestic students. The following information is provided for the International students who want to apply for the UH’s undergraduate and graduate programs:

Pre-admission Requirements for International Students

  • Application fee of 90 USD for undergraduate programs.
  • Application fee of 75-150 USD for graduate programs
  • Degree certificate and transcripts should be sent directly by the issuing university in sealed and stamped envelopes.
  • English translation of Transcript must be attached with the original.
  • International students must provide proof of financial support to receive Form I-20.
  • All the students must demonstrate English proficiency to obtain admission.

English Proficiency Test Score for International Students

The students can fulfill the English proficiency requirement by submitting one of the following test scores. The minimum required score may vary for graduate programs.

Post-admission Requirements for International Students

  • Log on to complete Pre-Arrival Orientation.
  • Attend a check-in session and orientation organized by the International Student and Scholar Services Office (ISSSO).
  • Students will receive their myUH ID in the offer letter. Visit AccessUH and use the ID to set a login password. Also, enter contact and mailing information.
  • Prior to enrollment, the students have to provide all the official documents.
  • After submitting the documents, the students can register for the class through myUH self-service.

University of Houston Undergraduate Admissions

Currently, the admission applications for the Summer and Fall sessions are open. The students should remember that certain undergraduate programs may have additional admission criteria. The overall admission process for undergraduate admissions is given below:

How to Apply: The students can apply for admission using either the Common Application or the Apply Texas Application.

Application Fee: 75 USD for US residents; 90 USD for International students. The payment can be made with a credit/debit card or check.

Admission Requirements:

  • Students need to prove their high school academic records
  • According to the University of Houston Eligibility Index, a student should have scores of at least 1100(SAT) or 24(ACT) with a 2.5 GPA or higher.
  • Students who fail to qualify for admission can opt for Individual Admission Option. In this, they can request that one or more supplemental factors (socioeconomic background, special skills, extracurricular accomplishments, etc.) be taken into consideration.
  • International Students are required to submit an English proficiency test score.

University of Houston Graduate Admissions

The University of Houstons’s Graduate School offers more than 100 graduate programs to students. All graduate programs have different eligibility criteria. However, the general admission process and requirements are given below:

Admission Requirements:

  • Scanned copies of official Transcripts must be uploaded as PDF files.
  • GMAT/GRE test scores should be sent by the testing agency only.
  • International students are required to submit an English proficiency test score.
  • Letter(s) of recommendation, Personal statement, Resume are a must for admission in any graduate program offered by the university.
