Western Michigan University International Student Admissions

Western Michigan University requires all students to complete their application online. International applicants will need to satisfy the below requirements to successfully complete their application:

Applicants must make sure official documents are submitted directly to the International Admissions and Services from the issuing institution or testing agency. Hard documents/transcripts are also accepted. They must be in a sealed envelope from the issuing institution. Applicants who submit their documents without an issuing institution will have their documents rejected.

Also, Documents must be in English or translated to English before submission.

English Proficiency Test Score for International Students

International students must show English mastery to be considered for admission into a degree program at Western Michigan University. The minimum required scores by the university for UG and PG both are as follows:

Visa Process for International Students

International applicants must apply for a Visa to Study in the USA. The Form I-20 will be issued by Western Michigan University for applicants to schedule a visa interview with the consulate. Applicants must pay the I-901 fee with the visa application fee too.

GRE Scores Code for Western Michigan University: 1902. The MBA students can apply for GMAT waiver based on at least seven years of extensive management experience, entrepreneurial experience, or military service.

Ques. Are my official transcripts or degree certificates required for admission?

Degree certificates, final and/or official transcripts are not generally required as a pre-condition of admission to WMU, and admission decisions will be processed prior to receipt of these documents. They should be submitted to our office as they become available or upon your arrival at WMU. Please note that official transcripts are original transcripts delivered directly from the institution in a sealed envelope.

Ques. How do I submit ACT or SAT scores for admissions?

The institute does not require international students to submit ACT or SAT scores. However, those who wish to submit should request that official scores be provided to Western Michigan University using the following institutional codes: 2066 for ACT and 1902 for SAT.

Ques. How do I request the shipment of my I-20 or DS-2019?

If you paid the 100 USD application fee you will receive your I-20 or DS-2019 in your admission packet, sent via DHL Express. A confirmation email with a tracking number is sent the day that the package is shipped.

Ques. What are health insurance and immunization requirements?

All international students are required to have health insurance coverage in effect on the first day of classes. Health insurance must be purchased for the academic year or, at the minimum, the entire semester.
