Admissions at Kent State University are invited during Fall and Spring, with some limited number of options available during summers. More than 38,000 students are currently enrolled at all eight campuses of Kent State University. Spring 2020 saw an overall enrollment of 25,808 students, both undergraduate and graduate. Out of these, 5,344 students were a part of various graduate non-degree programs as well as professional, masters, doctoral programs. Applicants can choose from 68 doctoral degrees, 250 master’s degrees, or 43 certificates offered in one of the university’s ten colleges. 

With an acceptance rate of 88%, Kent State University admissions are not too competitive. The mean high school cumulative GPA required for admission of all freshmen is 3.4. Admission through ACT scores is moderately competitive as the mean ACT composite score is recorded at 23. The average SAT score of incoming freshmen is 1130.

Kent State University International Admissions

The Office of Global Education oversees Kent State University admissions of international students. If the applicants get admitted, the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) helps the students through the entire process. An advisor from ISSS will issue immigration documents and express mail them to the applicants. 

Requirements for international admissions:

  • Minimum GPA requirement
    • GPA ≥ 2.5 on a U.S. 4.0 scale.
  • Secondary school graduation certificate/diploma/attending certificate.
  • Secondary school transcripts/detailed mark sheets
  • All transcripts should be accompanied by certified English translation and original language.
  • Financial guarantee (bank statements) are required to prove that the applicant has sufficient funds to cover educational and living expenses.

Applicants should prepare the following application documents before applying:

  • Passport biographical page.
  • English language proficiency scores.
  • Transcript/detailed mark sheets with certified English translation.
  • Bank statements.

English Language Requirements for International Students

International undergraduate students must prove their English proficiency by obtaining one of the following:
