Rider University was established in the year 1865 when the Trenton Business College was opened. The school was awarded the university status in 1994. Rider University’s both campuses at Lawrenceville and Princeton are working towards being fully sustainable and have been awarded for their efforts. 

Rider University Campus

The university became the Champion of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in the year 2017 -2018. The university aims to create an inclusive community by teaching its students to be active and involved. Thus, the university is one of the pioneer universities of the USA.

Rider University Programs

  • The Rider University has six schools under which undergraduate and graduate degrees are awarded. One unique school Rider has is the College of Continuing Studies that educates students in a specific area and is more specialized.
  • There are a total of 71 undergraduate degree programs and 28 graduate programs. Some of the more popular programs, as per Niche.com, are Business, Psychology, and Accounting.
  • The college also offers dual degrees where a student can finish their undergraduate and graduate studies together. The popular dual degrees are BS/MBA and BA/MBA.
  • Students have the option to study for a semester abroad and also opt for internships and co-ops at Rider.
  • To encourage research at the undergraduate level, Rider University awards an amount of 5,000 USD to five students every year.
  • Some of the major popular programs offered by the university are Accounting, Global studies, Sociology, Graphic Design, and Health Care Management. 

Rider University Campus

  • Rider University has two campuses, Lawrenceville, the main campus, and Princeton, New Jersey, USA.
  • The 280 acre Lawrenceville campus has 43 buildings which include various sports facilities, an indoor swimming pool, and a lake. The Princeton campus is 23 acres and has over 14 buildings.
  • There are more than 180 plus student organizations and clubs one can join. There are clubs for sports, performing arts, fraternities and sororities, community service, academic clubs etc.
  • Student services are offered in the Bart Luedeke Center. The center houses a financial aid office, academic center, career development center and more.

Rider University Housing

  • Rider University has over 20 residence halls in its campuses. Over 70% of its total student population lives on campus.
  • The Gee Hall houses international students and similarly, the Conover Hall houses only first-year students.
  • There are also shared double rooms, apartments and suites that house 2 to 4 people. There are also single rooms available in certain buildings.
  • All rooms come furnished with basic furniture like bed, chest of drawers, cupboard, table and chair, and a high-speed internet connection.
  • The university has different meal plans for residents, commuters and faculty. Residents have the option of three meal plans that can be used in the Daly Dining Hall.
  • Some off campus housing facilities are also available.

Rider University Admission Process

The following are the information regarding the admission to the university.

Application Portal: Common Application and Rider University application portal.

Application Fee: 50 USD

Academic Requirements:

  • The standardized test scores required are i.e SAT (minimum score 1100) / ACT (minimum score 23)
  • The students from non-English speaking countries are required to appear for either the TOEFL (minimum score - 80) exam or for the IELTS (minimum score - 6.0 bands) exam.
  • The students seeking admission in the UG programs are required to have a minimum GPA of 3.4 and the GPA of the students seeking admission graduate programs varies from program to program.
  • GMAT or GRE are optional.

Supporting Documents: 1 letter of recommendation, statement of purpose, visa and passport (if required), financial documentation to prove the availability of funds, resume (required for certain programs like MBA)

Rider University Financial Aid for International Students

  • International students have access to only merit-based scholarships and not need-based scholarships at Rider University.
  • For undergraduate students in their first year, scholarship awards range from 18,000 USD to the full tuition amount. Applications need to be submitted online to be considered for these scholarships.
  • Graduate business programs scholarships award up to 12,000 USD for 12 credits. Applications need not be submitted and all students are considered upon admission. Graduate students can also apply for assistantships to teachers.
  • International students can work at on-campus jobs by filling out the FAFSA form. Wages paid for the jobs are as per the state minimum wage rate and the wage is not to be used for tuition but for miscellaneous expenses. International students are allowed to only work 20 hours per week.
  • A student can also go for other scholarships offered by various agencies in the USA.

Rider University Placement

  • Rider University’s career development center provides jobs and internships for students to gain experience, identify interests and passions, build-essential career-building skills and more.
  • The center has a four-year plan that students can enroll in to build up their skills and resume right from the start.
  • As per Payscale.com, a Rider University graduate earns an average pay of 67,000 USD after completing their programs.
