Bucknell University International Admissions

The International Student Services (ISS) provide informed immigration advising and support for students from abroad as well as the Bucknell faculty & staff community. All international applicants are strongly advised to seek assistance throughout their admission process and their stay at the U.S. from ISS.

Admission requirements for international applicants:

  • Average GPA is recorded at 3.73.
  • Official SAT or ACT test scores are required.
  • Official secondary school transcript in certified English translations, if the original documents are in any language other than English.
  • Copy of biographical photo page of the passport. A copy of the applicant’s national identification card will suffice if they do not yet hold a passport.
  • Confidential Statement of Finances (CSF): If not applying for financial aid, the applicant must submit the CSF along with certified original bank statements.
  • If applying for financial aid, the applicant must submit the International Student Financial Aid Application along with documentation to verify parental income information, including a certified original bank statement.

Language Requirements for International Students

International students are required to provide proof of English language proficiency by fulfilling at least one of the following requirements:

Bucknell University Undergraduate Admissions

Bucknell University admissions for undergraduates has the following requirements:

Graduate applicants need to fulfill the following requirements:

  • An official transcript, verifying final grades and conferral of the baccalaureate degree with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0.
  • GRE general test scores. The minimum score on the general test is 1000 or the equivalent in the new scoring scale.
  • Prior to attendance at the university, international students must obtain a student visa (F-1 status) from the U.S. consulate in their home country. This visa requires a Form I-20 document issued by the Director of Immigration Services.
  • International students must show sources of support in the amount of 2000 USD in addition to the financial aid award before an I-20 can be issued.
  • Recommendation letters from two persons familiar with the applicant’s academic work or performance-related activities.
  • Personal statement.
  • Minimum English Language Proficiency: Minimum TOFEL score of 100 points on the internet-based test or Minimum IELTS score of 7.0
