Dakota State University is located in Madison, South Dakota. Dakota State University is spread across 70 acres. The university has several academic teams and Student Clubs. The 35 student clubs at the university are ideal for all types of students who are interested in gaming, sports, dance, theatre, and music. The campus of Dakota State University is largely consisting of Residence halls, administration building, classrooms, a management building, and an open lawn area. The oldest building on campus was built in 1886 known as Beadle Hall.

Residence Facilities at Dakota University

DSU has six residence halls, two apartment-style housing complexes, and the Girton House. Every residence hall and apartment complex is unique. Some of the Residence halls are:-

All the housing facilities are provided with all kinds of amenities that are required for comfortable living such as laundry facilities, kitchen, Television and Wifi.

Admission Process for International Students

Students need to meet certain requirements as an international undergraduate student for admission at Dakota State University.

How to Apply: Students can apply via the University’s Application Portal

Application fee: A non-refundable fee of 20 USD for undergraduate programs and 35 USD for graduate programs is to be paid along with the application.

Application deadline:

  • Fall semester – June 15
  • Spring semester – November 15

Admission requirement:

  • All certified academic transcripts (translated in English)
  • English proficiency test scores
  • Certificate of financial responsibility and bank statement
  • Copy of current visa and i-20, if students are present in the USA or copy of passport
  • GPA score of 2.7 on a scale of 4

Scholarship & Financial Aid

Dakota State University believes that students who demonstrate academic excellence should be recognized for their hard work. The university offers international students scholarships to afford their studies in the USA. There are numerous general Scholarships available for students that can be accessed by applying for them. Apart from this DSU also offers Scholarships based on academic performance that doesn't need application. 

  • DSU Champion Annual Scholarships
    • Award range from 750 USD to 5,000 USD per year
    • Renewable for four years
    • It has four levels of awards and each level is dependent on a specific ACT score
    • Must maintain a GPA of 3.00 or High
  • DSU Rising Scholarship
    • Awarded worth 5,000 USD per year
    • Based on academic performance
    • ACT score of 30-36 or SAT score of 1360 or higher
    • Enrollment required in Beacom College of Computer and Cyber Sciences
    • Renewable for a year if GPA is maintained 3.25 or above

Work While Study

Dakota State University helps students find job opportunities that fit their skills and interests. Students who have F1 Visa can work on campus up to 20 hours per week. For graduate students, DSU offers assistantship where students can work up to 20 hours per week. Students with a GPA of 3.25 average will be awarded an assistantship. 

Since the campus is located in rural areas Off-campus job opportunities are less.
