Programs, Campus, and Residence

Programs

Northwest Missouri State University offers various programs at Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s, post-baccalaureate Certificates, and post-masters Certificates in over 125 fields of study. The University also offers students Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees, and certificates online.

The most popular majors at Northwest Missouri State University include Business, Marketing Management, and Related Support Services; Education; Agriculture, Agriculture Operations, and Related Sciences; Psychology; Journalism, Communication, and Related Programs.

Campus

Northwest Missouri State University provides 370 acres on-campus accommodation including non-remedial tutoring, health service and insurance, placement service, with the following facilities in student’s hand:

  • Security services with 24-hour emergency telephones and foot and vehicle patrols
  • Campus safety includes late-night transport/escort service
  • Controlled dormitory access (key, security card, etc.)
  • Computers are available in residential halls, computer labs, and a library resource center.
  • Special academic buildings and museums are available on campus namely Bearcat Sports Museum, Olive Deluce Art Gallery, and Northwest Science Museum
  • Services are also available for disabled students which includes tape recorders, special bookstore sections, note-taking services, interpreters for hearing impaired, etc.

Residence

Northwest Missouri State University offers residential halls to the students that are close to their classes, library, station, and the Student Union. The students may also actively participate in sports, clubs, and organizations.

Following are the details of the residential halls:

  • Hudson-Perrin Residence Halls (ALCs And Freshman Housing)

Hudson-Perrin Residence Halls provide a home to approximately one-third of freshman class that offers academic and social support for first-year students. The facilities include:

  • free laundry facilities; kitchen; lounges on each floor
  • computing assistance; WiFi; recreation room
  • unique pod-style layouts; portable furniture; private bathrooms
  • close to the student parking
  • One floor of Hudson has Academic Living Communities (ALC) that offers students with similar academic interests to connect, learn and share.
  • Franken Hall (Freshman and Upper-class Housing) (Renovated in 2018)

Franken hall provides housing to freshmen and upper-class students and has a Bearcat Living Community. The facilities include:

  • NEW renovated floors, main lounge, and furniture
  • two full, private bathrooms per floor
  • free laundry facilities; two new community kitchen
  • community restroom/shower area
  • computing assistance; WiFi; recreation room
  • co-ed by floor
  • 24-hour visitation policy (for upperclassmen)
  • High Rise Residence Halls (Freshman and Upper-class Housing)

High Rise Residence Halls provides a home to nearly 800 freshmen with a Freshman-Learning Center in each building. The facilities include:

  • NEW private room for freshmen
  • free laundry facilities; kitchen; lounges on each floor
  • co-ed by floor
  • computing assistance; WiFi; recreation room
  • closets and dressers
  • two built-in desks with chairs
  • Tower suites (ALCs And Upper-Class Housing)

The Tower suites provide housing to upper-class students with advanced housing options and have three Academic Living Communities (ALC). The facilities include:

  • own bathroom and living space
  • community building with meeting/study space, convenience store, Mooyah, community kitchen, vending and mail service
  • WiFi; study room
  • free laundry; kitchenette; balcony or patio
  • South Complex (ALCs and Upper-class Housing)

South complex offers four or five rooms grouped by gender with a private bathroom and has five Academic Living Communities (ALC). The facilities include:

  • free laundry; community kitchen
  • WiFi; gathering spaces; recreation room
  • vending machines
  • bankable beds; movable furniture
  • Forest Village Apartments (Upper-class Housing)

Forest Village Apartments provides housing to upper-class students who want the independence of an apartment and convenience of living on campus. The facilities include:

  • two-and four-bedroom apartments; individual bedrooms
  • free laundry facilities; community kitchen
  • pets allowed with approval
  • WiFi
  • pool table
  • Roberta Hall (Upper-class Sorority Housing)

Roberta Hall is home to Alpha Delta Pi, Phi Mu, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Sigma Kappa, and Sigma Sigma Sigma sororities. The facilities include:

  • suite-style rooms; own bathroom
  • networked laser printer
  • free laundry facilities; kitchen; cables
  • chapter room
  • vending machines
  • North Complex (Upper-class Low-Cost Housing)

North Complex is a cooperative community housing with a low-cost housing and food plan option. The facilities include:

  • air cooler in each room
  • option to have a private room but at an additional cost
  • Initially, 30 spaces will be offered
  • Room Costs: USD 2000/semester where students are saving USD 572/semester over our previous lowest rate used in Dieterich and Millikan halls.
  • Job placement efforts will be made
  • In respect to dining cost, freshmen have to select any one plan: 5-day, Silver, Gold, & Platinum. For upper men, the dinning cost is USD 669/semester.

Students can also opt for off-campus student housing to stay in the US

Admission Process

Northwest Missouri State University offers admission to students in various programs. An application process is online demonstrated by test scores, class rank, grades, and exposure to a college-prep curriculum. The university combines an examination of academic ability with a flexible assessment of an applicant's experience and potential.

Application fee: USD 75 (nonrefundable processing fee)

Admission Requirements for Graduates

While submitting an application, the applicant is also required to submit the following documents:

  • Official transcripts of previous degrees and credits earned.
  • Entrance exams GMAT  scores or GRE, or alternative requirements
  • For Non-Degree seeking Graduate Classes: proof of a baccalaureate degree

Admission Requirements

The international students must submit the following to get fully admitted to the Northwest Missouri State University.

  • Official transcripts with any certificates of graduation from each secondary and post-secondary institution attended.
  • A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 will be considered for admission.
  • Graduate Catalog for GPA requirements
  • Copy of passport
  • Bank statement with a minimum balance of USD 26,944 for undergraduate students and USD 16,309 for graduate students. The documents should be verified and may be submitted electronically.
  • Northwest statement of support form
  • English proficiency exam score report
  • Transfer recommendation form
  • GRE and/or GMAT score reports if applying for graduate admission
  • ACT/SAT scores, for undergraduate scholarship

The expenses of Undergraduates are calculated on the basis of 28 Credit hours-14 each semester and for graduates on the basis of 18 Credit hours-9 each semester.

Financial Aid

The University awards scholarships to students based on financial need, academic ability, or a combination of both. About 19 million in scholarships and grants are awarded annually and received by more than 87% of freshmen. A student saves USD 7,400 through textbooks and laptop programs. The international students earn in-state rates. But financial assistance is not available for Non-Degree seeking students.

There are five types of scholarships available in the university.

  1. Northwest International Achievement Scholarship (NIAS) (for undergraduates)
  2. Northwest Academic Merit Scholarship ( for undergraduates)
  3. Transfer Scholarship ( for undergraduates)
  4. International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Scholarship ( for undergraduates)
  5. CS/IS International Graduate Achievement Scholarship ( for gradates) ( no application required)

International Students can also apply for external scholarships to study in the USA.
