Skidmore College is situated in Saratoga, New York and is spread across 1,000 acres. The University is ranked at 9th position in New York ranking 2020 and 93rd position in US ranking 2020 by THE. The college offers undergraduate majors and minors compiled in more than 1,000 courses.

The University is a true example of women empowerment as it was established in the 1900s by a woman, Lucy Scribner as an industrial club for the advancement of women. She aimed at making women self-sufficient. Today, the University is co-ed and offers a number of fulltime courses to students from more than 70 countries.

Programs & Courses offered

  • The University offers undergraduate majors and minors, dual degrees, master’s programs and Honors courses in bachelor of arts and bachelor in science.
  • There are more than 1000 courses in total including 43 major and all majors have corresponding minors.
  • English, business, psychology, studio arts and economics are some popular courses. 
  • Also, students can enroll in any six language classes in the World language department of Skidmore University.
  • The students who maintain a score of 3.5 or higher are eligible to enter the honors forum which offers exciting courses and other advantages. 

Campus

  • The University is spread across 1000 acres and has an impressive campus including the museum, music center, elegant apartments, etc.
  • Besides, the University also looks forward to sustainability with 29 apartments being heated and cooled geothermally.
  • Also, the University has its own community garden that produces up to 1000 pounds of food for the students.
  • Skidmore University has more than 120 students clubs and organizations to reinforce innovation and fun learning of students. 
  • Furthermore, the University has 20 intramural sports clubs and around 19 men and women teams taking part in the Liberty League. 

Residence

  • The university has eight conventional residence halls and three apartments for the students interested to stay on-campus.
  • The residence halls are single, double or triple room halls and are accessible only for first-year students and sophomore students.
  • The apartments are for upper-class students and are fully furnished. Each hall has a lounge area, smaller floor lounges, kitchenette facilities, study rooms, laundry, exercise equipment, and vending services.
  • All the students staying in the residence halls have to compulsorily opt for an unlimited meal plan.

Application process

  • The students need to apply online through the Common Application website or the Coalition Application website.
  • The documents required while applying for undergraduate and graduate admission are:
    • Secondary School report.
    • Teacher evaluation report.
    • TOEFL/IELTS scores.
    • Transcripts translate in English.
    • SAT/ACT/Art portfolio (not mandatory)
  • The candidates will have to pay an application fee of $ 65 USD. No applications will be considered as submitted without the payment of fees.
  • Application Deadlines:
    • Early Decision Round I: November 15
    • Early Decision Round II: January 15
    • Regular Decision: January 15

Financial Aid

  • Skidmore university invests around $ 43 million annually as financial aid for the needy students. 
  • International candidates can find and apply for scholarships and loans using the CSS profile application.
  • Some of the scholarships available for international students are: 
    • Filene music scholarship: the scholarship is awarded through a music competition organized by Skidmore’s Department of music. The value of the scholarship is $15,000 per year and is available for all four years.
    • Porter presidential scholarship in mathematics and science: Having passion and dedication in maths and science is all it takes to win this award. Majors in mathematics or science is not mandatory, but the candidate must have the subjects every semester and must work on a project in the same areas. The award amounts to $ 60,000 total.

  • The alumni of the Skidmore University get access to campus resources, Digital resources, career and networking guide, and hotel/motel discounts.
  • Another attractive benefit is that one can get a Skidmore College email ID for a lifetime.

    MY THOUGHTS FOR SKIDMORE COLLEGE !!

    When my study abroad loan was approved my only aim was Skidmore College. I always got fascinated by the thought of studying where great alumni like Lake Bell, Boston Legal, Jon Bernthal, and many more have studied. I applied online for it and luckily I got the admission.


    Course Curriculum - 

    The curriculum is based on extensive theoretical principles and applied practices. Topics like Social Psychology, Adolescent Development, Adult Development, Personality are included in the curriculum.
