Florida State University provides prospective applicants with the necessary guidelines regarding the admission process. All the applications are reviewed carefully to ensure that applicants are prepared for the university’s rigorous curriculum.

Florida State University International Student Admissions 

Every year, the university enrolls more than 1,700 international students. While the majority of international students apply for graduate programs, the university also offers various undergraduate programs. The University also offers financial support to international students.

Admission Requirements for International Students

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Choose one of the five essay questions
  • Resume

  • Self-report all the ACT /SAT test scores

  • At least 2 Letters of recommendation.

Submission of Documents for International Students

  • All the academic records that are not in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation.
  • A course-by-course evaluation is necessary for non-US institutions. This can be done by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
  • To be considered “certified”, the documents should be true copies that are signed and dated by an educational officer familiar with academic records.
  • International applicants seeking teaching assistantships must submit all the supporting documents in advance.
  • The ACT/SAT score must be uploaded electronically. The university’s ACT and SAT exam code are 0734 and 5219 respectively.

English Proficiency Test Score for International Students

International applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency. The university’s acceptable English proficiency test scores are:

Visa Requirements for International Students

  • A valid passport for at least six months from the date of arrival in the United States.
  • Applicants require F-1 or J-1 Student visa.
  • The university will grant the accepted applicants with the Form I-20 for the F-1 visa and Form DS-2019 for the J-1 visa.
  • Proof of financial support for up to one year is non-negotiable.

Florida State University Undergraduate Admissions 

Florida State University offers more than 100 undergraduate degree programs. The admission process for all these programs is quite competitive. The applicants are advised to complete their admission process well before time.
