Admission Status: Open. The primary Fall 2027 intake is live, with first-year Regular Decision closing 1 December 2026 and the graduate international priority deadline on 15 January 2027. The Common Application for the 2026-2027 cycle opened 1 August 2026, and the FSU application portal is accepting undergraduate and graduate submissions with an application fee of USD 30 (around INR 2,860). The Wertheim College of Business priority deadline for Fall 2027 falls on 1 December 2026.
Florida State University admissions are open for Fall 2027, with the Tallahassee-based public research university accepting Indian applicants who hold a strong Class XII record for undergraduate study or a bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA (roughly 60 to 65 percent) for graduate study. Applications route through the Common Application for first-year admission and through FSU’s own graduate portal for master’s and PhD candidates.
- Next live deadline: Fall 2027 first-year Regular Decision closes 1 December 2026, and the graduate international priority window shuts 15 January 2027.
- Base tuition and fee: Base tuition sits at USD 22,232 (around INR 21.20 Lakhs) per year for non-Florida-resident undergraduates, with a USD 30 (around INR 2,860) application fee.
- Eligibility floor: Class XII of 65 percent or higher for UG and a bachelor’s degree at 3.0 GPA for PG, with IELTS 6.5 (or TOEFL iBT 80, or PTE 55) for both levels.
- Acceptance rate: FSU’s most recent Common Data Set reports an overall acceptance rate of 23.8 percent, placing it in the moderately selective tier.
Popular programs for Indian applicants include the MS Computer Science, the Wertheim MBA, and the MS Business Analytics, and reviewers frequently cite the ACC-athletic environment, mid-sized flagship setting, and NACES-based credential review as decision factors. For a broader profile of costs, campus, and rankings, read the Florida State University overview before applying.

Florida State University Application Deadlines
FSU runs a Fall-heavy calendar with a smaller Spring window for select graduate departments. The dates below are drawn from the FSU international admissions page and the graduate school international admissions page, and they cover the routes open to Indian applicants. Early Decision and Early Action are closed to international students, so Indian applicants apply through Regular Decision, Rolling, or the graduate international priority window.
FSU’s primary intake for Indian students is Fall (August start) — most master’s, PhD, and first-year undergraduate programs open here.
| Intake | Level | App Opens | Deadline | App Fee | Portal |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fall 2027 (Primary intake) | First-Year UG (Regular Decision) | 1 Aug 2026 | 1 Dec 2026 | USD 30 (INR 2,860) | Common App or FSU Portal |
| Fall 2027 | First-Year UG (Rolling) | 1 Aug 2026 | 1 Mar 2027 | USD 30 (INR 2,860) | FSU Portal |
| Fall 2027 | Graduate (International Priority) | Rolling | 15 Jan 2027 | USD 30 (INR 2,860) | FSU Grad Portal |
| Fall 2027 | Wertheim Business (Priority) | Rolling | 1 Dec 2026 | USD 30 (INR 2,860) | FSU Grad Portal |
| Fall 2027 | Graduate (University-Level) | Rolling | 1 Jul 2027 | USD 30 (INR 2,860) | FSU Grad Portal |
| Spring 2027 | Graduate (Standard Departments) | Open | 1 Oct 2026 | USD 30 (INR 2,860) | FSU Grad Portal |
Planning note: The first-year materials deadline falls one week after the application deadline (8 December 2026 for Regular Decision), so budget time for transcript translation and test-score dispatch from ETS or IELTS.
Florida State University Eligibility for Indian Students
Eligibility at FSU splits by level. Undergraduate review is holistic and covers Class IX through XII academics, an essay, a resume, and at least one standardized test. Graduate review layers a bachelor’s-degree GPA floor on top of program-specific coursework prerequisites, plus English proficiency for all international applicants.
- UG academic floor: Class XII completion at 65 percent or better, with subject coursework matched to the intended major (Mathematics for engineering and business, Biology and Chemistry for Nursing).
- UG standardized test: At least one score from SAT, ACT, or CLT sent by the materials deadline. February test dates are the last accepted for the same-year cycle.
- PG academic floor: A four-year Indian bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA on the US scale (roughly 60 to 65 percent, department dependent), plus prerequisite coursework in the target field.
- English proficiency (all levels): IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEFL iBT 80 (pre-January 2026 format), PTE Academic 55, Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency 180, or Michigan Language Assessment 55.
- Wertheim College of Business floor: Higher English bar — IELTS 7.0, TOEFL 100, or PTE 66 — plus a course-by-course NACES transcript evaluation for all international applicants.
- Duolingo: No longer accepted at FSU as of Spring 2026, so plan for IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE well ahead of the deadline.
FSU does not publish an MOI (medium-of-instruction) or country-of-prior-study exemption for the English proficiency requirement, so an Indian applicant whose Class XII or bachelor’s was taught in English still needs a live test score from an approved provider. Test scores stay valid for two years and must be sent directly from the testing agency to be treated as official.
Florida State University PG Programs and English Scores
The Graduate School houses over 120 master’s degrees across colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, Communication and Information, Engineering, and Public Health. Popular Indian-applicant destinations include the STEM tracks in Computer Science and Engineering plus the analytics and MBA tracks in the Herbert Wertheim College of Business. Base tuition for graduate non-residents sits at USD 23,004 (around INR 21.94 Lakhs) per year — for a per-program breakdown covering credit loads and cohort length, refer to the FSU courses and fees breakdown.
| Programme | Duration | Minimum Eligibility | English Req. Min. |

The GRE is currently waived for most master’s and specialist programs (excluding the Wertheim College of Business, where GMAT or GRE remains optional but recommended) through Fall 2026 admits, with departmental extensions varying. PhD applicants generally still submit GRE scores unless a departmental waiver is approved.
Insider note: Wertheim College closes its priority window on 1 December 2026 for Fall 2027 international MBA and MS applicants, several weeks before the January 15 university-wide international priority date. Missing the Wertheim date pushes candidates to the rolling wait pool.
Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official FSU international graduate admissions page for your chosen program before applying.
Florida State University UG Programs and Requirements
FSU’s undergraduate portfolio spans 100-plus majors across 16 colleges, including flagship strength in Business, Criminology, Computer Science, Nursing, and the film and dance programmes in the College of Fine Arts. Indian applicants apply as international first-year students through the Common Application or FSU’s own portal, with the same academic and English criteria applied across majors. Base tuition holds at USD 22,232 (around INR 21.20 Lakhs) per year for non-Florida-resident undergraduates.
| Programme | Duration | Minimum Eligibility | English Req. Min. |
|---|---|---|---|
| BS Computer Science | 4 years | Class XII at 65 percent with Mathematics, SAT or ACT score | IELTS 6.5 |
| BS Nursing | 4 years | Class XII at 65 percent with Biology and Chemistry | IELTS 6.5 |
| BS Business Administration | 4 years | Class XII at 65 percent, essay, SAT or ACT score | IELTS 6.5 |
| BS Engineering (FAMU-FSU College of Engineering) | 4 years | Class XII at 65 percent with Mathematics and Physics | IELTS 6.5 |
Florida State University First-Year Review Basis
Review is holistic across 9th to 11th grade performance, senior-year rigour, at least one live SAT or ACT score, and an essay. FSU does not require letters of recommendation for first-year applicants and does not accept self-reported test scores through the Common App — applicants self-report scores in the FSU Admissions Portal after submission. International first-year applicants are not eligible for Early Decision or Early Action and route through Regular Decision or Rolling admission.
Florida State University Transfer Applicants
Transfer applicants must show a college-level GPA of 2.5 (US scale) and completion of prerequisite coursework for the intended major. FSU generally expects at least 60 transferrable credits and prior enrolment at an institution recognised by the applicant’s home country accreditation body.
Florida State University MBA Admissions at Wertheim College
The FSU Herbert Wertheim College of Business offers the MBA in three formats: Accelerated Full-Time (12 months), Part-Time Evening (24 months), and Online Part-Time. Only the Accelerated Full-Time format suits F-1 visa students, since online and part-time formats do not meet the full-course-load requirement for a student visa. Applications route through the FSU graduate portal and are reviewed by the Wertheim admissions committee separately from the general graduate school.
Wertheim MBA Deadlines and Application Route
The Wertheim priority deadline for Fall 2027 international applicants is 1 December 2026, several weeks earlier than the university-wide 15 January international priority. Spring intake is not standard for the full-time MBA. GMAT or GRE scores are optional and encouraged only if they strengthen the application; the GMAT code for FSU is PN8K567 and the GRE code is 5219. There is no separate MBA application fee — the standard USD 30 (around INR 2,860) grad school application fee applies.
Wertheim MBA Eligibility and Work Experience
The Accelerated Full-Time MBA expects a four-year bachelor’s degree, a 3.0 GPA, and preferably two to three years of full-time work experience — though outstanding recent graduates are considered case-by-case. English proficiency floors are IELTS 7.0, TOEFL iBT 100, or PTE Academic 66. Every applicant must submit a course-by-course NACES transcript evaluation (FSU recommends The Evaluation Company) and a Certificate of Financial Responsibility for the F-1 I-20 process.
Insider note: Wertheim does not publicly list a formal interview stage for the MBA, but the admissions committee reserves the right to invite shortlisted candidates for a virtual conversation. Indian applicants should treat the SOP and resume as decision-carrying documents.
Florida State University PhD Admissions for Indian Students
FSU runs 78 doctoral programs across the Graduate School’s academic colleges, with sizeable Indian applicant flow in Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Public Administration, and Criminology. PhD admissions run department-by-department, so university-level dates function only as outer bounds — most departments close applications weeks or months earlier for candidates seeking funded assistantships.
Florida State University PhD Deadlines and Funding
The Graduate School’s Fall 2027 university-level PhD deadline is 1 July 2027, but funded assistantship consideration typically closes around 1 December 2026 to 15 January 2027 depending on the department. Most PhD offers to Indian applicants come bundled with a teaching or research assistantship covering full tuition plus a stipend — for exact 2026-2027 stipend figures, refer to each department’s funding page, since amounts vary from around USD 20,000 to USD 30,000 per academic year across STEM and social science departments.
Florida State University PhD Test Requirements
GRE scores remain expected for PhD applicants unless a departmental waiver is approved — the master’s-level GRE waiver does not extend to doctoral admission. English proficiency floors match the graduate school minimums (IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 80, PTE 55). Three letters of recommendation, an SOP, and a full CV are standard across departments.
Florida State University Application Process for Indian Students
The FSU application process is a linear five-step flow — pick your route, register on the platform, submit the application, dispatch supporting materials, and complete post-decision I-20 steps. Undergraduate first-years use the Common Application (2026-2027 cycle opened 1 August 2026 on the platform’s own domain) or FSU’s own portal; graduate applicants use FSU’s graduate application portal only.
- Choose the route: First-year UG applicants file through the Common Application for FSU (opened 1 August 2026 for the Fall 2027 cycle) or the FSU Admissions Portal. Graduate applicants use the FSU Graduate Application Portal only.
- Register and start the application: Create a login, populate personal details, upload the essay (UG) or SOP (PG), and add three letters of recommendation for graduate programs.
- Pay the application fee: Pay the application fee of USD 30 (around INR 2,860) on the FSU portal, or USD 35 (around INR 3,337) if routing through the Common App (which adds a USD 5 processing fee).
- Dispatch supporting materials: Send IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE scores directly from the testing agency, forward transcripts to a NACES-approved evaluator for course-by-course conversion, and self-report SAT or ACT scores in the FSU Portal for UG.
- Complete post-decision I-20 steps: Upload proof of financial support and passport bio-page to the Center for Global Engagement within two weeks of the offer letter to trigger the I-20 issuance for the F-1 visa interview.
Florida State University Decision Timeline
First-year Regular Decision applicants (deadline 1 December 2026) receive decisions on 18 February 2027, with an enrolment deposit of USD 200 (around INR 19,069) due 1 May 2027. Rolling admissions applicants receive decisions on a rolling basis in April 2027. Graduate decisions are released department-by-department, typically four to eight weeks after materials complete review, with rolling notification through May and June for Fall 2027 intake. For scholarship pathways available to Indian graduate students, review the FSU funding for Indian students on the Graduate School’s departmental awards pages before accepting.
Documents Required for Florida State University Admissions
FSU’s document checklist for Indian applicants covers identity, academic history, English proficiency, and financial capacity. All non-English transcripts must carry certified English translations and be run through a NACES-approved credential evaluator (FSU recommends The Evaluation Company) for course-by-course equivalency. Every document uploaded to the portal must be a clear, colour scan of the original.
- Passport bio-page: A colour scan valid at least six months past the intended I-20 program end date.
- Academic transcripts: Class X and XII marksheets and passing certificates (UG), or Bachelor’s degree marksheets and provisional certificate (PG), with certified English translations.
- NACES course-by-course evaluation: Required for every international applicant, dispatched directly from the evaluator to the FSU Office of Admissions.
- English proficiency score report: Sent directly from IELTS, ETS (TOEFL), Pearson (PTE), Cambridge, or Michigan — self-reported scores are not considered official.
- Standardized test score: Live SAT or ACT for UG (self-reported in the FSU Portal), or GRE or GMAT for PhD and Wertheim MBA where applicable.
- Statement of Purpose and Essay: The Common App essay for UG first-year applicants; a detailed SOP for graduate applicants.
- Letters of Recommendation: Three LORs for graduate applicants; none required for first-year UG.
- Resume or CV: Required for UG first-year (activity list format) and all graduate applications.
- Certificate of Financial Responsibility and bank statement: Uploaded post-admission to trigger I-20 issuance — showing at least USD 40,400 (around INR 38.53 Lakhs) in liquid funds for the first year.
Florida State University Acceptance Rate
FSU’s most recent Common Data Set reports an overall acceptance rate of 23.8 percent, placing it in the moderately selective public-flagship tier. This figure is the university-wide rate and blends Early Action Florida residents, Early Decision domestic candidates, Regular Decision international applicants, and rolling admissions.
Florida State University Round-by-Round Selectivity
The Early Action pool (Florida residents only, closed to Indian students) admits at a materially higher rate than Regular Decision, because Early Action carries the bulk of institutional yield. Regular Decision — the route open to Indian first-year applicants — runs materially tighter than the headline 23.8 percent, with third-party analyses placing it near 14 to 16 percent for out-of-state and international candidates. FSU has moved into a tier where a non-resident file needs competitive credentials to convert.
What This Means for Indian Applicants
An Indian first-year applicant is compared with the out-of-state Regular Decision pool. That pool typically presents a weighted GPA in the high 3s (US scale) and SAT scores in the 1300 to 1410 middle-50-percent band. A Class XII score of 85 percent-plus with a strong SAT (over 1300) and a substantive essay generally reads competitively. For a wider context of where FSU sits versus peers, see the FSU ranking band across QS, US News, and CollegeDunia’s own listings.
Insider note: FSU does not run a waitlist for first-year admission — a decision on 18 February 2027 is final for that round. If deferred to Rolling, the file is re-evaluated in April, so keep the FSU portal updated with any senior-year improvements or new test scores.
USA Student Visa for Florida State University Admissions
Indian students admitted to FSU require an F-1 student visa for full-time undergraduate, graduate, and MBA programs. The F-1 process begins only after the Center for Global Engagement issues the Form I-20 — typically two to three weeks after the applicant uploads proof of financial support and a passport bio-page to the international student portal. Applicants should target the visa interview no later than three to four months before the program start date to leave buffer for slot availability at US consulates in India.
The F-1 workflow runs in six steps: receive the FSU I-20, pay the SEVIS I-901 fee of USD 350 (around INR 33,371), complete the DS-160 online non-immigrant visa application, pay the visa application fee of USD 185 (around INR 17,639), book the biometric and consular interview at a US consulate (New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, or Hyderabad), and attend the interview with the I-20, financial documents, SEVIS receipt, and academic records. Financial proof must show at least USD 40,400 (around INR 38.53 Lakhs) in liquid funds for the first academic year.
Planning note: If personal or family funding is used to secure the I-20, FSU’s rules require the F-1 student to remain on that funding source for the entire visa period. Applicants planning to seek graduate assistantships mid-program should signal that intent to the department before I-20 issuance rather than after.
Tips and Admissions Checklist for Florida State University
The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at FSU across recent Fall intakes — treat them as sequencing guidance rather than restated requirements.
- Start test prep 6 months out: Book IELTS or TOEFL early enough that a retake before the 1 December 2026 or 15 January 2027 deadline is possible if the first score falls short.
- Request NACES evaluation 8 weeks before the deadline: Course-by-course evaluations from The Evaluation Company or WES take 4 to 6 weeks; add buffer for original transcript dispatch from your Indian institution.
- Route first-year applications via Common App if applying to multiple US universities: The USD 5 (around INR 477) Common App processing fee is worth the reuse of essay and profile across 20-plus US programs.
- Skip the Duolingo test: FSU stopped accepting Duolingo from Spring 2026 admits onward — book IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or PTE Academic instead.
- Target Wertheim’s 1 December priority deadline, not the January 15 university date: Business school files reviewed after 1 December compete for a shrunken seat pool.
- Prepare I-20 financial documents before the offer letter arrives: Bank statements dated within 60 days plus a signed Certificate of Financial Responsibility keep the two-to-three-week I-20 clock from stretching.
- Book the US visa interview slot in April 2027 for August start: Delhi and Mumbai consulate slots for Indian F-1 applicants tighten sharply between May and July each year.
- Self-report SAT or ACT scores in the FSU Admissions Portal: FSU does not read self-reported scores from Common App — a missed self-report in the FSU Portal defers the review.
FSU’s Fall 2027 window is short and front-loaded, with the Wertheim business route closing 1 December 2026, first-year Regular Decision the same day, and the graduate international priority date on 15 January 2027. Indian applicants who lock the IELTS or TOEFL score by October 2026, dispatch NACES evaluations by early November, and file the FSU or Common App submission before the Wertheim priority date compete for the strongest seat pool. Read the FSU courses and fees breakdown alongside this admissions timeline to align programme cost with the intake calendar.

- I was meeting the criteria that was set. The university was offering just the course I needed. The weather and the campus is great. University has got a good name. I had a good resume and sop, that got me into this university.
- Florida State University at Tallahassee is one of the top 20 public state University in USA. It has got a very beautiful and huge campus with all the amenities you can imagine, like, couple of big gyms, stadiums for every other sport, health and wellness center, gaming and cinema.
- Here the professors are of a very high profile, many of them are always doing some research. The pedigree of the college is just as important as the degree, so choosing and getting into this university is a win. There are many departments to enroll into, so you study what you really want.

- University does not allow Day 1 CPT. Less Indian Community compared to other universities. Need to relocate for finding Technical jobs.
Overview
The university is great and the climate in Florida is almost equivalence to the climate in India.
Overview
I just love the curriculum and the opportunities in the university.
Scholarship
No, I didn't receive any scholarship.
Overview
The school is very cost-effective, and they accepted the credits I already earned. The World War 2 institute at FSU is one of the largest and most interesting collections held on any campus, and given the actual ties the city has to this era, it provides a greater environment for learning about the subject matter.
Overview
Florida state university has an amazing business school. I am double majoring in management and sales and I believe I have learned so much through Florida states business school. The majority of students graduating from the business school also have countless job offers.
Scholarship
I have gotten financial aid. I have received very little but everything helps. College is extremely expensive so even a little amount of financial aid goes a long way.
Overview
Location, scholarship, research, and everyone was very nice when I visited. I felt at home, and the campus was beautiful. I also wanted to go to a large school. I wanted to participate in Greek life, which is very large at FSU.
Scholarship
Yes, my scholarship, which was an out of state scholarship, was just offered to me. I did not have to apply for it.
Overview
I am a legacy here and it offers a fantastic psychology and hospitality program which helps me to truly learn and study what I would like to do with my life. FSU has given me opportunity after opportunity to grow and change and ready myself for my future.
