Courses

The institute offers an array academic programs which majorly lean towards undergraduate level but there isn't a lack of graduate courses as well. Rose Hulman Institute of Technology Campus

The lush beautiful campus of the institute is spread in a vast land of 200 acres near Terre Haute, Indiana which is a small city just one hour west from Indianapolis. The campus comprises outstanding professors, motivated students and dedicated staff who inculcate the spirit and 100 years old tradition of the organization and merge it forward with technology and advancement.

Offering over 90 clubs and teams like Human Powered Vehicle Team, gardening club, drama club along with endless opportunities for athletes at hearts in the form of basketball courts, climbing wall and swimming pool, the institute ensures the students are never short of options in terms of entertainment.

It also takes pride in its outstanding food service served by multiple award-winning chefs that guarantee almost every imaginable delicacy to your very table.

Accommodation

The institute offers various accommodation alternatives for its candidates coming from around the world. Where it is mandatory for freshman to live on-campus, upperclassmen can choose if they would like to explore other options. However, living on-campus means fewer distractions, safety and more friends, and thus is highly recommended for all the students. 

The available residence options are provided across 8 housing buildings namely Apartment East & West, Blumberg Hall, BSB Hall, Deming HAll, Lakeside, Mees, Percopo, Scharpenberg, Skinner and Speed, some of which are discussed in details as follows:

  • Apartment East and West can house 240 students in 60 apartments. Key features include two bedrooms, a kitchen, living area and a bath.
  • Blumberg, Mees and Scharpenburg are brick-style residence hall including 12 two-person rooms with air-conditioning, laundry room and vending machines.
  • Skinner serves as housing for a sorority group with apartment-style living.
  • Lakeside room is huge with a 240-bed, 75,000-square-foot residence and is eco-friendly.
  • Speed Hall shelters 116 freshmen and features a kitchen, a main lounge, ping pong, laundry room, vending machines and carpet in every room.

Deadlines

Early application deadline is November 1 and the student is notified before December 15. Regular decision applicants have to submit their application and necessary supporting documents by February 1.

How to apply?

Application Portal: International Students can apply to the Rose-Hulman Institute of technology by both institute’s online application or via using common application.

Basic Mandatory Requirements

  • The International Student Application
  • SAT-I or ACT results
  • GRE/GMAT for graduate programs
  • A letter of recommendation
  • Official transcripts of High school
  • An affidavit of support with supporting bank statement stating ability to fund the cost of attendance
  • An official copy of the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) report or IELTS (International English Language Testing System).
  • Non-refundable application fee of 50 USD.

Minimum scores for the tests taken for admission:

  • TOEFL - 88 Internet Based with a minimum of 20 in each area.
  • IELTS - 6.5 or above with a minimum of 6.0 in each area.
  • SAT Evidence-based Reading and Writing section- 500 or higher
  • ACT English section- 21 or higher

Scholarships/ Financial Aid

The institute believes in education for all and thus provides aid in the form of studentships, awards, grants, loans and work-study programs for its various aspirants. Some of the scholarships for international students hoping to study in the USA available at the institute are as follows:

Rose-Hulman Merit Scholarship

Offered on the 2 individual factors which include:

  • Academic measures. The quality of the high school curriculum you pursued, class rank & size and test scores set the par and all students are automatically considered for this scholarship.
  • Non-academic measures. Granted on extracurricular activities, leadership and community service.

Bakota Family Scholarship 

  • One-year scholarship awarded for students of electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering appearing in sophomore year.
  • Application deadline- August 1.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA is 2.7 .
  • Should have a full-time summer job during the break between freshmen and sophomore year.
  • Amount awarded is 2,500 USD.

The Class of 1940 Scholarship

  • Students with supreme academic performance and potential to honour the institute with their services are granted this scholarship.
  • The tuition and housing fees are reduced by half for all the four years of under-graduate course.
  • Application deadline is February 1 and the candidates are finalised on a web-based interview.

4.Rose-BUD Scholarship

  • Awards for students with exceptional academic talent of Electrical and Computer Engineering stream.
  • Upto 10,000 USD awarded per year.

Work-study programs encourage the students to be financially smart and independent. The available job type may be of community service and is flexible around the college schedule. An average of eight hours per week of work is desirable to cover the full amount of typical award .
