Loyola University Chicago offers 25+ named scholarships, of which 10+ are accessible to Indian applicants. The top merit tier trims Chicago tuition by up to USD 34,000 (INR 32.45 Lakhs), pushing net UG cost near INR 15.53 Lakhs yearly.

  • Standard UG tuition: USD 50,270 per year (INR 47.98 Lakhs).
  • Net cost with Damen Scholarship (mid merit tier): USD 39,270 per year (INR 37.48 Lakhs).
  • Net cost with Presidential Scholarship (top merit tier): USD 16,270 per year (INR 15.53 Lakhs).
  • Next automatic-merit deadline: December 1, 2026 for Fall 2027 intake (tentative annual cycle).

Currency Note: All INR conversions use the live rate of 1 USD = INR 95.45 as of August 2026. Amounts under INR 1 Lakh appear as raw INR; larger amounts appear in Lakhs (1 Lakh = INR 100,000).

Loyola University Chicago Scholarships for UG Students

Loyola University Chicago runs six named merit scholarships plus a separate donor and heritage pool for undergraduates. Indian applicants clear the automatic screen through the admission file, without a separate scholarship application.

Deloitte Accounting ScholarshipUp to USD 7,500 across three semesters (INR 7.16 Lakhs)Accounting major; 3.0 GPA; preference for non-native English speakersRolling with Quinlan admission

Admission review determines the merit tier for the first six awards, so a stronger UG file translates directly into a bigger annual waiver. Indian students should target early admission completion by mid-November to lock the highest tier before Regular Decision packets go out.

The four-year total on the Damen reaches USD 44,000 (INR 42.00 Lakhs). Trustee sits at USD 32,000 (INR 30.54 Lakhs) over the same window. See the Loyola University Chicago Admissions guide for exact test-score expectations and application timelines.

Loyola University Chicago Scholarships for PG / Master’s Students

Loyola University Chicago funds Master’s students through the Quinlan School of Business and each professional school separately. Indian applicants should read scholarships as school-specific, not university-wide.

ScholarshipAmountEligibility for Indian ApplicantsDeadline (2026-27)
Dean’s Merit Scholarship (Quinlan)Tuition credit covering one or two Quinlan coursesAutomatic on admission to Quinlan graduate programs; international applicants eligibleRolling with application
Graduate Business Student Scholarship (Quinlan)USD 1,000 to 10,000 (INR 0.95 to 9.54 Lakhs)Academic merit plus FAFSA-verified need; most Indian applicants blocked on the need sideWith admission application; priority March 1, 2027 (tentative)
Samuel A. Attoh Graduate FellowshipNine-month stipend, tuition scholarship, plus annual professional development stipendIncoming Master’s or PhD applicants nominated by their departmentDepartment nomination in admission cycle (tentative Spring 2027)
Graduate Assistantship (department-driven)Partial to full tuition plus monthly stipend; amount varies by schoolMerit-based; department discretion; open to Indian applicantsConfirmed with admission by March 2027 (tentative)
Conference Travel AwardUp to USD 750 (INR 71,588)Enrolled Master’s students presenting at an academic conferenceRolling; one award per fiscal year (July 1 to June 30)

Reddit Insight: Indian threads on r/IntltoUSA report that submitting a completed application by mid-November returns a scholarship decision inside the first admission letter. That timing beats the December 1 UG automatic-consideration deadline and the March 1 PG priority cutoff, avoiding a January portal wait.

MBA applicants at Quinlan should note the standard sticker: USD 63,360 per year (INR 60.48 Lakhs). A Dean’s Merit two-course credit trims that by roughly USD 7,000 (INR 6.68 Lakhs). MSCS at USD 18,225 per year (INR 17.40 Lakhs) already sits low; assistantships close the remainder for strong research candidates. See the Loyola University Chicago Programs and Fees page for the full program-wise sticker list.

India-Specific Scholarships at Loyola University Chicago

Loyola University Chicago does not publish a dedicated India-only scholarship line. Indian applicants access funding through the general merit review at admission plus the department-level fellowships listed above.

Two Loyola awards land unusually often for Indian applicants:

  • Deloitte Accounting Scholarship (UG): The published preference for non-native English speakers pulls Indian accounting majors into the shortlist at higher rates.
  • Graduate Assistantship at Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health: Indian MPH and MS Health Informatics applicants with research CVs pick these up often, cutting effective tuition by 40 to 60 percent.

Indian applicants seeking dedicated funding should stack Loyola’s merit with external Indian government or foundation scholarships listed below. Cross-reference the Loyola University Chicago Ranking silo to confirm the university meets the ranking floors set by USIEF and Inlaks. Both prefer applicants entering top-500 US programs.

Loyola University Chicago PhD Scholarships

Loyola University Chicago funds PhD students through named Graduate School fellowships plus school-level assistantships. Most awards require department nomination rather than a direct application from the student.

Graduate Assistantship (PhD-level)Full tuition, monthly stipend, and health insuranceMerit-based; department driven; open to Indian applicantsConfirmed with admission by March 2027 (tentative)

Indian PhD applicants should treat the department-driven assistantship as the primary funding vehicle. Named fellowships stack on top in years two and three. Departments in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Parkinson School typically fund international PhD admits at 100 percent of tuition.

External Government Scholarships for Loyola University Chicago Applicants

Indian applicants heading to Loyola University Chicago can stack the university’s merit award with Indian government and foundation scholarships. These external awards cover living costs, travel, or top-up tuition that the Loyola merit does not reach.

ScholarshipSupportEligibility for Indian ApplicantsDeadline (2026-27)
Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowship (USIEF)Full tuition, living stipend, health cover, and round-trip airfare (roughly USD 40,000 to 55,000 per year; INR 38.18 to 52.50 Lakhs)Indian citizen with UG degree; 3+ years of professional or research experience preferredApplications open mid-May 2027; close mid-July 2027 (tentative annual cycle)
Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowship (USIEF)Monthly stipend, tuition, health cover, and round-trip airfareIndian PhD candidate with research plan tied to a US host labApplications open mid-May 2027; close mid-July 2027 (tentative)
Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation ScholarshipUp to USD 100,000 (INR 95.45 Lakhs) across the program; covers tuition, living, and travelIndian national aged 30 or under; UG from Indian university; not currently enrolled abroadApplications open January 2027; close March 31, 2027 (tentative)
J. N. Tata Endowment Loan ScholarshipLoan of INR 1 to 10 Lakhs at 2 percent simple interest, repayable over 7 yearsIndian citizen; 60 percent aggregate in UG or PG; age under 45Applications open early January 2027; close late March 2027 (tentative)

Reddit Insight: Fulbright-Nehru winners on r/IndianAcademia consistently flag that USIEF prioritises candidates with 2+ years of documented professional or research work. Freshers with UG-only backgrounds see very low placement odds inside the shortlist.

The Fulbright-Nehru packet stacks cleanly on top of the Loyola Presidential merit award. An Indian Master’s admit with both awards can graduate with zero out-of-pocket tuition. Inlaks and JN Tata do not require a Loyola-specific submission, so Indian applicants should time both alongside the March graduate priority deadline.

Loyola University Chicago Scholarships: Frequently Asked Questions

Ques. What is the maximum funding an Indian student can stack at Loyola University Chicago?

Ans. The top merit tier (Presidential) pays up to USD 34,000 per year (INR 32.45 Lakhs). Fulbright-Nehru adds a living package worth USD 20,000 to 30,000 per year (INR 19.09 to 28.64 Lakhs). The combined stack covers tuition plus living for a Master’s admit. UG applicants cannot use Fulbright-Nehru. Instead, they pair Presidential with Inlaks (up to USD 100,000; INR 95.45 Lakhs across four years) for a similar zero-tuition outcome.

Ques. When should Indian students apply to secure a Loyola University Chicago scholarship?

Ans. Complete the freshman admission by December 1, 2026 for automatic merit consideration in the first admission letter. Graduate applicants should target the March 1 priority deadline for Quinlan and department fellowships. External scholarships run on separate cycles: Inlaks closes March 31; JN Tata closes late March; Fulbright-Nehru opens mid-May and closes mid-July.

Ques. Do Indian applicants need a separate scholarship application at Loyola University Chicago?

Ans. No for the six main merit awards (Presidential, Damen, Loyola, Trustee, Dean, Regents); the admission file is the scholarship application. Yes for Gannon, Svaglic, Rachel Carson, Ignatian, and Deloitte Accounting; each opens a separate portal window between January and March.

Ques. What GPA or test score does Loyola University Chicago expect for merit scholarships?

Ans. Loyola publishes a merit band tied to admission review rather than a fixed cutoff. Applicant forum data suggests Presidential-tier awards land around 3.85 UG GPA plus 1400+ SAT or 32+ ACT. Damen and Loyola tiers cluster at 3.6 to 3.8 GPA and 1300 to 1400 SAT. IB and CBSE 90 percent equivalents typically clear the middle three tiers.

Ques. What does the Damen Scholarship offer at Loyola University Chicago and does it renew every year?

Ans. The Damen Scholarship pays USD 11,000 per year for four years, totaling USD 44,000 (INR 42.00 Lakhs). It renews automatically if the recipient maintains full-time enrollment plus a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in year one and 3.25 thereafter. The award applies to Loyola tuition only, not room, board, or the mandatory international student health insurance.

Ques. Does the Loyola University Chicago scholarship cover Chicago living costs for Indian students?

Ans. Loyola merit awards apply to tuition only. On-campus room and board runs about USD 16,470 per year (INR 15.72 Lakhs). Off-campus housing in Rogers Park or Edgewater sits around USD 1,100 to 1,500 per month (INR 1.05 to 1.43 Lakhs). Indian applicants typically stack a graduate assistantship, on-campus job, or Fulbright-Nehru living stipend to close the housing gap.

Scholarship

  • Yes, I received a merit based scholarship, it is the Deans Scholarship and its eligibility depends on academic merit.
  • The award amount is $22,000 per year
  • Yes they did receive scholarships
  • Almost everyone that is 99% incoming students receive scholarship each year. The typical reward amount ranges from $14,000 to $30,000.

  • As a freshman it was compulsory for me to live on campus
  • I dont have a monthly rent as its paid according to every semester, the facilities included are laundry services.
  • No challenges, just that I was paired up with random roommates.
  • My only recommendation would be to find people and get to know them so that you can choose who you want your roommate to be.
  • My accommodation is a five min walk from all my classes and Indian students stay among all the other students.

I chose this school because it is a small, liberal arts school so I knew that I would be focused on as an individual. I also chose the school-based off of athletics. I run on the track team here so it was important to me that the team and training fit my needs.

Scholarship

I have a couple of scholarships but this school is too much money. I am in great debt. While they have many scholarships they tend to go to the overprivileged athletes.

It is in the city and it also has a campus. This was very important to me when I came from Michigan. I loved that I would be able to access the opportunities from the city and also be somewhat close to home.

Scholarship

Yes, I apply for FASFA every year and received a federal grant. I also have many student loans through Stanford.

I wanted to be in Chicago and have a college that was community-driven. The campus is beautiful and all of my classes are taken in the heart of downtown which was a big selling point for me. I enjoyed the environment when I visited.
