Popular postgraduate picks with Indian applicants include the MS in Computer Science, MS in Data Science, and MS in Information Systems, driven by Hoboken’s mile-from-Manhattan location and the strong New York tech and finance pipeline. Reviews of Stevens Institute of Technology from Indian alumni consistently flag rapid on-campus recruiting and industry-linked coursework.

Stevens Institute of Technology Application Deadlines for Indian Students

Stevens uses fixed rounds for undergraduate admissions and preferred (not cutoff) deadlines for graduate programs, which admit on a rolling basis. Indian applicants needing an F-1 visa should target these preferred dates to leave room for visa processing and merit-scholarship review, per the Stevens graduate deadlines page.

Currency note: All ₹ figures in this article use USD 1 = ₹95.40 (July 2026). Live rates may vary, so confirm with your bank before remitting.

Stevens’ primary intake for Indian students is Fall 2027 (August start) — most master’s, PhD, and undergraduate programs open here.

Intake Level Deadline App Fee Portal
Spring 2027 Master’s full-time 1 November 2026 (preferred) USD 60 (₹5,724) Stevens Grad Portal
Fall 2027 (Primary intake) UG Early Decision I 15 November 2026 USD 75 (₹7,155) Common App
Fall 2027 (Primary intake) UG Early Action 1 December 2026 USD 75 (₹7,155) Common App
Fall 2027 (Primary intake) UG Early Decision II / Regular Decision 5 January 2027 USD 75 (₹7,155) Common App
Fall 2027 (Primary intake) Master’s full-time 15 April 2027 (preferred) USD 60 (₹5,724) Stevens Grad Portal

Planning note: The Fall 2026 master’s full-time deadline of 15 April 2026 has passed, so Indian applicants targeting an August start should now aim for the Fall 2027 cycle. Rolling review means earlier submissions get first look at merit aid.

Stevens Institute of Technology Admissions Eligibility for Indian Students

Stevens evaluates Indian applicants on academic record, English proficiency, and program-specific prerequisites. The bars below are the institutional floors from the official Stevens English Language Proficiency Policy; competitive programs like MS Computer Science and MS Financial Engineering typically admit stronger profiles.

  • UG academic (recommended): Class XII with an aggregate of 65% or higher, with Mathematics studied through Class XII for engineering and computer science majors.
  • PG academic: A four-year Bachelor’s with a minimum 3.0 GPA on 4 (around 65% in Indian terms); master’s-level applicants to PhD need 3.5 GPA.
  • UG English: IELTS 6.0 Overall, TOEFL iBT 80.
  • PG English: IELTS 6.0-6.5 with each component 6.5, TOEFL iBT 4-4.5.
  • Test optionality: GRE and GMAT are optional for most master’s programs but required for select PhD tracks like Data Science, Financial Engineering, and Chemical Engineering.

Insider note: Stevens’ undergraduate English waiver only applies to students who have studied in the US for at least three years, so most Indian applicants coming straight from CBSE, ISC, or state boards must submit an IELTS, TOEFL, or Duolingo score.

Stevens Institute of Technology PG Programs Admissions

Stevens’ Schaefer School of Engineering and Science and Stevens School of Business collectively offer over fifty master’s degrees. Base tuition for a full-time graduate load is USD 22,995 per semester (about ₹21.94 Lakhs) for 2026-2027, per the Stevens Office of Student Accounts; see the detailed fee breakdown for course-wise variation.

Undergraduate applicants from India apply through the Common Application to one of thirty-five bachelor’s majors. Base tuition for 2026-2027 is USD 32,765 per semester (about ₹31.26 Lakhs), and SAT or ACT are optional for Fall 2026 and Fall 2027 first-year entry per Stevens’ extended test-optional policy.

Stevens Institute of Technology MBA Admissions

The Stevens School of Business runs a full-time MBA plus a part-time and Online MBA. GMAT and GRE are optional; the admissions committee weighs work experience, quantitative coursework, essays, and interviews.

  • Work experience: Two-plus years preferred for the full-time MBA; more expected for Executive MBA cohorts.
  • Deadlines: Fall 2027 full-time master’s preferred deadline is 15 April 2027; Spring 2027 is 1 November 2026.
  • Application fee: USD 60 (around ₹5,724), paid on the Stevens Grad Portal.
  • Interviews: International applicants are strongly encouraged to schedule an interview after the file is complete.

Reality check: Rolling review does not mean unlimited time. Indian MBA applicants who submit after 15 April 2027 risk missing merit scholarships and F-1 SEVIS issuance windows before the August start.

Stevens Institute of Technology Application Process

The graduate and undergraduate paths diverge at the portal but share the same document core. Follow the steps in order and start standardised tests at least four months before your target deadline.

  1. Shortlist the programme and confirm the primary intake (Fall 2027 for most Indian applicants).
  2. Take IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or Duolingo; graduate applicants target IELTS 6.5+ or TOEFL 90+.
  3. For UG, create a Common Application account; for graduate, register on the Stevens Graduate Portal.
  4. Upload transcripts from Class X, Class XII, and Bachelor’s institutions, with certified English translations if needed.
  5. Draft a Statement of Purpose of 500 to 1,000 words tailored to the specific programme faculty.
  6. Request two recommendation letters (three for select PhD programmes).
  7. Pay the application fee of USD 60 (around ₹5,724) for graduate or USD 75 (around ₹7,155) for undergraduate on the Stevens Grad Portal or Common App.
  8. Submit, then track status and respond promptly to document requests.

Stevens Institute of Technology Admission Decisions Timeline

Decision timing depends on the round. Undergraduate rounds have fixed notification dates, while graduate decisions arrive on rolling review once all documents are on file.

  • UG Early Decision I: Notification by 15 December; binding acceptance within four weeks.
  • UG Early Action: Notification by 1 February; non-binding.
  • UG Early Decision II: Notification by 15 February; binding.
  • UG Regular Decision: Notification by 1 April; commit by 1 May.
  • Graduate: Rolling, typically 4 to 8 weeks after the file is complete.
  • Deferrals: One-term deferrals are considered case by case; PhD deferrals are rare and tied to funding.

Documents Required for Stevens Institute of Technology Admission

Prepare a single, well-organised document folder before starting the portal. Missing documents are the top reason applications sit in "incomplete" status and miss the F-1 window.

  • Valid Indian passport with at least six months of validity beyond the intended arrival date.
  • Official transcripts from Class X, Class XII, and all Bachelor’s institutions, in the original language plus a certified English translation.
  • Statement of Purpose of 500 to 1,000 words in Times New Roman 12-point.
  • Two recommendation letters (three for select PhD programmes).
  • Updated resume or CV listing internships, projects, and publications.
  • Official IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or Duolingo score report sent from the testing agency.
  • GRE or GMAT score report if the target programme requires it.
  • Writing sample or research paper for PhD programmes.
  • Financial proof for the I-20: bank statements covering at least one year of tuition and living costs.

Stevens Institute of Technology Acceptance Rate for Indian Students

Stevens does not publish a separate acceptance rate for Indian applicants. The overall institutional acceptance rate is estimated at 40 to 45%, based on recently published admissions data, and Stevens sits in the moderately competitive US News national universities ranking band around the top eighty. Competitive graduate programmes like MS Computer Science and MS Financial Engineering typically pull admitted-student GPAs closer to 3.5.

Insider note: Indian applicants with a 65 to 70% Bachelor’s, GRE 315+, and a targeted SoP citing specific Stevens faculty labs tend to convert well, especially when they submit at least two months before the preferred deadline.

Tips for Stevens Institute of Technology Admissions

The following tips are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Stevens Institute of Technology.

  • Submit the graduate application at least eight weeks before the preferred deadline to leave room for merit-aid review.
  • Cite specific Stevens research groups or faculty labs in the Statement of Purpose to signal fit.
  • Retake IELTS if any band is below 6.5 for graduate programmes; single-band shortfalls are the most common file gap.
  • For MS Financial Engineering and MS Data Science, submit an optional GRE score of 320+ to strengthen a mid-tier Bachelor’s transcript.
  • Choose recommenders who can speak to quantitative rigour rather than general character.
  • Schedule the F-1 visa interview within two weeks of receiving the I-20 to avoid the summer bottleneck.

Stevens Institute of Technology Admissions Checklist

The following steps cover what Indian applicants typically complete for Stevens Institute of Technology.

  • 12 months out: Register for IELTS or TOEFL and start the GRE only if the programme requires it.
  • 8 months out: Shortlist five programmes, confirm intake, and map deadlines.
  • 6 months out: Draft Statement of Purpose and identify three recommenders.
  • 4 months out: Request official transcripts from Class X, Class XII, and Bachelor’s institutions.
  • 3 months out: Submit the portal application and pay the USD 60 (₹5,724) graduate fee.
  • 1 month before travel: Complete SEVIS payment, DS-160, and book the F-1 visa interview slot.

Stevens Institute of Technology remains one of the most attainable STEM-forward routes to a New York-area STEM career for Indian applicants, provided the application is submitted well ahead of the Fall 2027 preferred deadlines. Rolling review rewards early filers with cleaner merit-aid outcomes and less F-1 timeline stress.

Overview

I submitted SOP and LOR . Mentioned about my passion towards computer science and my overall goal to accomplish my future targets. I did not have any rounds and was directly selected for a dean's excellence scholarship for my profile. The main reason to choose this university is for its easily customizable courses. I would simply recommend my university to everyone who is willing to study any computer based courses . It's really great here and i love everything about my university.

Scholarship

I got the dean's excellence scholarship worth 18000 $ .
