Grand Canyon University Scholarships for UG Students

GCU runs four merit scholarship tiers for incoming freshmen, all renewable across a four-year degree. Indian applicants receive automatic consideration once they submit Class 12 marks plus SAT or ACT scores with the admission form.

ScholarshipAmount (per year)GPA (4.0 scale)SAT / ACT
President’s Scholarship$5,500 (INR 4.84 Lakhs)3.9 and above1410 / 31
Provost’s Scholarship$4,500 (INR 3.96 Lakhs)3.7 to 3.891295 / 27
Dean’s Scholarship$2,500 (INR 2.20 Lakhs)3.5 to 3.691170 / 24
Faculty Scholarship$1,500 (INR 1.32 Lakhs)3.0 to 3.491000 / 19

Convert Class 12 CBSE or ICSE marks to a 4.0 GPA using the WES (World Education Services) converter before applying. A CBSE aggregate above 90% typically maps to a 3.9 GPA and qualifies for the top tier.

Renewal each year requires a college GPA of 3.0 or higher during your time at GCU. Test-optional candidates without an SAT or ACT score can still qualify based on their converted Class 12 GPA alone.

India-Specific Scholarships at Grand Canyon University

Grand Canyon University does not publish a scholarship branded exclusively for Indian nationals. However, the four UG merit awards and the six PG discounts apply to Indian passport holders with no citizenship restriction.

RouteValue for Indian StudentHow to Access
President’s Scholarship (Indian pathway)$5,500 per year (INR 4.84 Lakhs)Submit Class 12 marksheet, WES-converted GPA above 3.9, plus SAT 1410 or ACT 31

International Student Success GrantCase-by-case, up to $2,000 (INR 1.76 Lakhs)Contact the GCU International Office post-admission with financial documents

Documents an Indian applicant submits so the merit scholarship review runs automatically:

  • Class 12 CBSE, ICSE, or state board marksheet showing final percentage
  • SAT or ACT scorecard, unless applying under the test-optional route
  • WES-issued GPA conversion certificate on the 4.0 scale, optional but recommended
  • Passport copy for international student verification and visa paperwork

Indian applicants pair the President’s Scholarship with a graduate assistantship to push total funding above $7,500 per year (INR 6.60 Lakhs). This brings net tuition down to roughly $9,000 (INR 7.92 Lakhs).

Grand Canyon University PhD Scholarships

Grand Canyon University offers two doctoral scholarships worth $5,000 each (INR 4.40 Lakhs). Both apply to online EdD, DBA, PhD in Psychology, and DNP tracks.

The award applies as a one-time tuition credit spread across the dissertation phase. Indian doctoral candidates should note these funds cover online cohorts only, not on-campus research programs.

For on-campus doctoral funding, apply directly to a graduate research assistantship within your target college. Assistantships at GCU pay a monthly stipend of $1,500 to $2,000 (INR 1.32 to 1.76 Lakhs) plus partial tuition waiver.

Reddit Insight: Users on r/IndiansAbroad confirm that combining the Inlaks award with the President’s scholarship covers both tuition and Phoenix rent, since Inlaks does not restrict pairing with institutional aid.

Fulbright-Nehru is the most competitive slot with under 20 Indian awardees per year across all US master’s admissions. Apply through USIEF India by the annual May cycle date.

The Inlaks award typically goes to applicants with a first-class honours degree plus admission to a highly-ranked US program. Confirm your GCU admission letter is dated before submitting the Inlaks form.

Ques. When should Indian students apply for Grand Canyon University merit scholarships?

Scholarship

The main reason why I was even able to go to this school was because of the generous scholarships I was able to receive. I got an academic, the Pell Grant.

The top two reasons I chose this school was because it's a Christian school and affordable. Being a Christian is a huge part of me and I wanted to attend a school that helped me keep my faith close.

Close to home and heard a lot of good things about the community on campus. I wanted somewhere where I knew my faith would grow and also where I could have independence. I had a lot of friends who went here too so that helped.
