Undergraduate entry needs Class XII at roughly 55 percent (a US 2.5 GPA equivalent), while master’s applicants need a bachelor’s degree at around 60 to 75 percent (a 2.75 to 3.25 GPA equivalent depending on program).

  • Next live deadline: Common Application for Fall 2027 opened 1 August 2026 and remains open on a rolling basis. The Psy.D. Clinical Psychology cohort closes 16 November 2026.
  • Fees at a glance: full-time undergraduate base tuition is USD 40,260 (around INR 38.05 Lakhs) per year, with no application fee on either the Pioneering Spirit or Common Application.
  • Eligibility floor: UG needs 2.5 GPA equivalent plus IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 61. PG needs 2.75 to 3.25 GPA plus IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 79.
  • Acceptance rate: around 65 percent, per the most recent cohort data on Common Data Set reporting.

Popular picks for Indian students are the MBA, MS in Information Systems and Business Analytics, and Conservatory BFAs in Cinema Production and Dance. Reviews highlight small class sizes and strong industry access in film, media and business through the Pittsburgh location; the full Point Park University overview covers placements, campus and student life for context.

Admission Status: Open. Point Park University’s Fall 2027 primary intake accepts applications through the Common Application (opened 1 August 2026) and the university’s own Pioneering Spirit Application on a rolling basis, both with no application fee. The Psy.D. Clinical Psychology deadline of 16 November 2026 is the nearest fixed date, about eight weeks away.

Point Park University Application Deadlines

Point Park University runs on a rolling admissions model for nearly every program, so Indian applicants can submit at any time and get an academic decision within 10 business days. The exception is the Psy.D. Clinical Psychology cohort, which uses a single fixed date each cycle per the official international graduate admissions page.

Point Park University’s primary intake for Indian students is Fall (August) because that is when most undergraduate and graduate programs open a full seat count. Spring (January) is a secondary intake with a narrower program list. There are no summer starts for any graduate program.

Point Park University IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

Insider note: Doctoral applicants cannot use the Duolingo route or the ESL bridge waivers. Point Park University demands a fresh TOEFL or IELTS for the Ph.D. and Psy.D., with the Psy.D. requiring a TOEFL of 95 or IELTS 8.0 which is among the higher floors in US private universities.

  • English proficiency: TOEFL 70, IELTS 6.0 or Duolingo 115. This is a lower floor than most other Point Park graduate programs.

MBA Application Timeline for Indian Students

Point Park University does not publish fixed rounds for the MBA. Its practical timeline works out as follows for Fall 2027 entry.

  • Submit by 1 April 2027 for scholarship consideration and early I-20 issue.
  • Submit by 1 June 2027 for a comfortable US F-1 visa slot booking window.

Note: The Concurrent MA and MBA option lets you stack the MBA with any Point Park master’s in communication. You must clear the entry bar for both programs and file two applications, but the university treats them as one enrollment for the F-1 visa.

Compare the Point Park MBA against peer options in the MBA universities directory for the US before finalising.

Point Park University Doctoral Programs and Timelines

Point Park University runs three doctoral programs. Two run on rolling review while the Psy.D. uses a fixed deadline each cycle. All three demand a completed master’s degree, evidence of research writing, and a fresh TOEFL or IELTS score (Duolingo is not accepted at the doctoral level).

Point Park University Application Process for Indian Students

The Point Park University application process routes through two official portals depending on the level of study. Undergraduate applicants for Fall 2027 can use the Common App (which opened its 2026-27 cycle on 1 August 2026) or the Pioneering Spirit Application. Postgraduate applicants use the Point Park Applicant Portal directly.

  1. Choose your portal: UG applicants pick either the Common App or the Pioneering Spirit Application. PG applicants register on the Point Park Applicant Portal.
  2. Complete the online form: fill personal details, academic history, and program choice on the Point Park Applicant Portal. There is no application fee to submit.
  3. Upload official transcripts: Class XII (UG) or bachelor’s-degree marksheets and consolidated transcript (PG).
  4. Order a credential evaluation: pick WES, SpanTran, ECE or InCred and have the report sent directly to Point Park University.
  5. Submit English test scores: TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo per the level minimums. Score must be under two years old.
  6. Add the personal statement: a two-page maximum "Statement of Future Goals" for graduate programs, or a Common App essay for undergraduate.
  7. Track the decision: the university confirms an academic decision within 10 business days once the file is complete.
  8. Accept your offer and pay the deposit: confirm your seat, submit financial documents, and receive the Form I-20 to book your US visa interview.

Point Park University does not require an interview for most master’s and undergraduate programs. Interviews are limited to the MFA Interdisciplinary Arts, MFA Writing for Screen and Stage, Psy.D. Clinical Psychology, Ph.D. Community Engagement, and Ed.D. Leadership programs.

Documents Required for Point Park University Admissions

Point Park University asks Indian applicants to submit the following paperwork. Have every document scanned, ready and consistent with your passport before you open the portal to avoid last-minute holds on your file.

Documents Every Indian Applicant Must Submit

  • Passport bio page: a colour scan valid for at least six months beyond your intended arrival date in the United States.
  • US visa page: a scan of any prior US visa page, if you have one.
  • Official transcripts: Class X, Class XII and bachelor’s-degree marksheets with English translation.
  • Credential evaluation report: WES ICAP, SpanTran, ECE or InCred, sent directly by the evaluator.
  • English test score report: TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo, sent from the test-maker to Point Park University code 2676.
  • Personal statement: two-page maximum "Statement of Future Goals" for graduate applicants.
  • Two letters of recommendation: from academic or professional referees (waived for MFA and School of Business master’s).
  • Resume or CV: current one-page format listing academics, projects and any work experience.
  • Portfolio, audition or writing sample: only for BFA, MFA and Ph.D. Community Engagement candidates.
  • Financial affidavit and bank statement: filed after admission for the I-20 process, not at application stage.

Point Park University Acceptance Rate and Selectivity

Point Park University’s overall acceptance rate sits at around 65 percent, which places it in the moderately selective bracket for US private universities. In a recent Fall cycle, 5,834 applicants were reviewed and 65 percent received offers, per Common Data Set reporting. The rate is broadly similar for international applicants who meet the academic and English floors.

Which Point Park Programs Are the Most Competitive

  • Conservatory BFAs (Cinema, Dance, Acting): gated by audition or portfolio, with acceptance closer to 30 to 40 percent.
  • Psy.D. Clinical Psychology: the doctoral cohort is capped at around 12 seats, so competition is very high.
  • MBA and MS ISBA: non-audition programs with acceptance close to the institutional average.

What Boosts Your Point Park Admission Chances

  • Submitting a personal statement that ties specifically to a named Point Park faculty member or program feature.
  • Locking a TOEFL or IELTS score at least 5 points above the program minimum.
  • Filing at least three months before your intake to leave visa timing intact.

For subject-wise ranking context that shapes selectivity, see the Point Park University ranking band across QS, THE and US News.

USA Student Visa for Point Park University Applicants

Indian students admitted to Point Park University need the F-1 student visa. The university issues the Form I-20 after you accept the offer, submit financial documents (bank statement showing one year of tuition plus living costs), and complete health forms. You then pay the SEVIS I-901 fee of USD 350 (around INR 33,075) and the DS-160 application fee of USD 185 (around INR 17,483).

The next steps are booking a US Embassy or Consulate visa appointment in India (Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata or Hyderabad) and attending the biometric plus interview slots. Once you land in Pittsburgh, register with the university’s International Student Services office within 15 days to activate your F-1 status. STEM master’s programs like the MS Information Systems and Business Analytics qualify for the 24-month OPT extension on top of the base 12-month OPT.

2026 update: Indian F-1 visa slots at US Consulates remain in high demand for the August 2027 intake. Book your appointment as soon as you receive the I-20, since May and June slots are typically the first to fill. See the US student visa guide for Indian students for the full document checklist.

Tips and Application Checklist for Point Park University

The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Point Park University over the last two cycles. They cover timing, sequencing and small procedural moves that speed up the file.

  • Book WES ICAP first: the course-by-course report takes 7 to 20 business days, so order it before you open the application portal.
  • Send TOEFL and IELTS to code 2676: Point Park University’s ETS code prevents your file from stalling on a missing score.
  • Attach a signed MOI letter: if your bachelor’s was English-medium, this can waive the TOEFL requirement for most master’s programs.
  • Apply by April for scholarships: Point Park University reviews merit awards on a first-come basis for Fall entry, so early files see a bigger scholarship pool.
  • Request bank statements only after admission: the I-20 process needs a fresh statement not more than 90 days old at issue.
  • Order transcripts eight weeks out: Indian universities and CBSE take three to six weeks to issue official sealed transcripts.
  • Book the F-1 visa slot within seven days of I-20: earlier slot dates protect your August arrival plan.
  • Save a copy of the Statement of Future Goals in PDF: the portal accepts DOCX but PDF preserves formatting for reviewers.
  • Track the portal daily: Point Park University communicates most decisions through the applicant portal rather than email.

See the cost of living guide for Indian students in the USA before finalising your budget for Pittsburgh.

Point Park University offers a rolling, no-fee application route with a moderate 65 percent acceptance rate, making it a practical Fall 2027 target for Indian students at the 55 to 75 percent Class XII or bachelor’s band. Lock a TOEFL score, book WES early, and file before April for scholarship consideration.

Overview

I chose it because of its location in a Downtown urban area close to many entertainment venues which is where I hope to work after graduating. It one of the only schools in the country to offer the Sports, Arts and Entertainment Management degree and does a great job with doing so.

Scholarship

I reviewed financial aid by applying through my FAFSA form which was simple and quick. I also received scholarships from the school by applying and writing essays for them as well as interviewing for them.
