University of Illinois, Springfield MBA Admissions
University of Illinois, Springfield offers the MBA via its College of Business and Management, verified on the UIS MBA FAQ. The Springfield campus runs on rolling admissions, with files due at least six weeks before term start. Indian applicants should file for Fall 2027 by April 1, 2027 to leave buffer for F-1 visa processing. There is no mandatory interview, though faculty may request one case-by-case.
Planning note: The Peoria campus cohort admits for Fall intake only, with an April 1 deadline. Indian applicants on an F-1 visa should default to the Springfield campus route for scheduling clarity.
University of Illinois, Springfield MBA GMAT Waiver
GMAT or GRE scores are reviewed when submitted, with no scores under 400 considered. The MBA faculty waive the test for applicants showing substantial managerial or supervisory experience, documented through the resume, statement of purpose, and three reference letters. Indian applicants with 3+ years of mid-level people-management experience typically qualify. Those applying straight from a Bachelor’s with GPA below 3.0 should submit a 500+ GMAT score to strengthen the file.
University of Illinois, Springfield DPA Doctoral Admissions
The Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) is the only doctoral degree at University of Illinois, Springfield, offered through the School of Public Management and Policy per the official SPMP DPA page. Admissions are highly selective, with cohort size capped at around 15 students starting Fall each year.
GRE scores are not required but can strengthen the application. The minimum undergraduate GPA is 2.5, which maps to a Bachelor’s at 50%+ for Indian applicants. Competitive admits typically carry a Master’s degree. The program runs over five years with 52 credit hours. The next cohort start date is August 23, 2027, and rolling applications are reviewed with Fall 2027 priority given to files received by June 1, 2027.
Reality check: UIS does not publish standalone doctoral stipends on the DPA page. Funding is typically assembled through assistantships, department scholarships, and veterans’ benefits, so Indian applicants should budget for self-funding at the outset.
University of Illinois, Springfield Application Process
The application runs through the UIS Apply portal, with first-year undergraduates having an alternate option through the Common Application. Processing takes two to three weeks after all materials arrive.
- Create an account on the Apply UIS portal and select your program and intake.
- Complete the application form and upload a personal statement of 250 to 650 words.
- Pay the application fee: $60 (₹5,670) undergraduate or $75 (₹7,088) graduate on the portal.
- Email official transcripts to incomingtranscripts@uis.edu or send them via approved platforms.

The offer letter is followed by the I-20, usually within 10 business days once the applicant confirms acceptance and submits the financial affidavit. The acceptance deadline for I-20 release is typically 30 days from the offer date, with deferrals granted case-by-case to the next intake.

University of Illinois, Springfield Indian Applicant Odds
Indian applicants meeting the published floors (Class XII 65% UG or Bachelor’s 55% PG, plus English scores) typically receive offers within three weeks. The competitive filter sits on programme-level prerequisites rather than headline percentages. CS and Analytics seats expect verified programming or statistics coursework. Business programmes read the statement of purpose for career-stage fit.
University of Illinois, Springfield Selectivity Signals
Programmes with cohort caps, notably the DPA (15 seats) and MS Athletic Training, run tighter than the institution-wide figure suggests. The MBA and MS Data Analytics track admit most Indian applicants clearing the published prerequisites. Fall is the only entry window for both capped programmes. Spring and Summer offer limited coverage for Indian applicants.
Insider note: The 77% figure is institution-wide and understates competition in capped graduate cohorts. Shortlist DPA or MS Athletic Training only with strong academics and relevant experience.

Likes
- Great campus life
- Professors and syllabus focuses on hand on exercises
- Some professors are really helpful and just the best teachers.
Dislikes
- Administrative support is zero. All are unprofessional and not helpful at all. Being 1st semester student I had taken an extra course therefore emailed my course guidance professor and he advised to drop a course after the drop due date had passed. Later I received a bill of $6000 and after reaching out almost everyday for 3 months the admins would not help me at all and was just putting blame on each other, ignored my emails and tried to avoid me as much as possible so that I would have to pay the fee eventually. There is no support from university in such cases as they only want to fill their pockets and try to cheat students.
- Unclear course guidance : this problem was consistent throughout the course. Would suggest to not reach out to admin and try to talk to students as much as possible for these type of issues.
- A lot of workload which is so stressful. This is not much of an issue as you have 3 to 4 subjects and obviously every subject will have quizes and assignments. Make sure to take one hard and rest easy subjects in a semester. I did a mistake and took core difficult subjects all at once.
Scholarship
-
I don’t have any clue about this, as my visa was accepted last minute and I did not have the opportunity to look into scholarships.
I heard that few students got $2000 off of their tuition fee but that’s about it. - If you are exceptionally intelligent and ask for a scholarship or ask to match it with the other college that is offering you a higher scholarship, they might give you one.
