Oklahoma State University offers 15+ scholarship and assistantship pathways, of which 10+ are accessible to Indian applicants. The flagship undergraduate award is the International Achievement Freshman Scholarship, worth up to USD 60,000 (INR 56.70 Lakhs) over four years. Master’s applicants layer a graduate assistantship stipend on top of a nonresident tuition waiver to cut sticker costs by more than half.
- Standard MS tuition (nonresident, no aid): INR 17.5 Lakhs to INR 37.62 Lakhs per year, program-dependent
- With nonresident tuition waiver only: Falls to the in-state rate, roughly 55% off the sticker
- With graduate assistantship (waiver plus stipend): Net year-one cost falls below INR 5 Lakhs for many admits
- Next scholarship deadline for Indian applicants: May 1, 2026 for Fall 2026 international graduate admissions
Currency Note: All INR conversions use the live rate of 1 USD = INR 94.5 as of September 2026. A graduate assistantship (GA) is a paid teaching (TA) or research (RA) role that pairs a monthly stipend with a tuition waiver.

Reddit Insight: Indian MS admits on r/gradadmissions report that Graduate Research Assistantship offers rarely come bundled with the admission letter. GRAs are usually confirmed after a direct email to prospective faculty, sent in weeks two or three of the semester. Many students budget for one uncovered semester.
Business analytics, computer science, and MIS admits at Spears see the highest yield on the universal application. The funded cohort size in each track drives the strong hit rate.

India-Specific Scholarships at Oklahoma State University
Oklahoma State University does not run any scholarship that is legally restricted to Indian nationals. Some institutional awards are, however, heavily populated by Indian recipients each cycle. The pattern reflects the size of the Spears business and CEAT engineering admit pools from India.
| Award (India-heavy uptake) | Amount | Notes for Indian Applicants | Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|
| International Achievement Freshman Scholarship (renewed) | Up to USD 60,000 (INR 56.70 Lakhs) over 4 years | Indian high school GPA converted through WES credential evaluation; CBSE 90%+ typically maps to 3.75+ | Rolling; tentative March 1, 2026 (priority) |
| Spears BAnDS Graduate Assistantship | USD 18,810 to USD 21,861 stipend (INR 17.78 to 20.66 Lakhs) plus waiver | Most Indian MS Business Analytics admits secure at least a partial GA in year one | May 1, 2026 for Fall 2026 |
| CEAT Graduate Research Assistantship | USD 18,810 to USD 21,861 stipend (INR 17.78 to 20.66 Lakhs) plus waiver | Best fit for Indian applicants with published research or a strong master’s thesis plan | May 1, 2026 for Fall 2026 |
| ISO Emergency Loan (International Student Organization) | Up to USD 500 (INR 0.47 Lakhs), short-term | Indian students routinely use this for first-month rent and utility deposits | Rolling |
Recommended stack for Indian MS admits combining institutional and external funding:
- Institutional core: Graduate Assistantship (INR 17.78 to 20.66 Lakhs stipend) paired with the nonresident tuition waiver
- External top-up: Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowship or J.N. Tata Endowment loan to close the tuition and living gap
- Safety net: OSU International Student Organization emergency loan for first-month settling costs in Stillwater
Indians who are not offered an assistantship at admission usually escalate through the department head after arrival, and about a third convert within one semester. See our OSU admissions requirements page for GPA equivalence tables. Direct-entry scholarship applicants should keep official IELTS or TOEFL scores under a two-year validity window.
Oklahoma State University PhD Scholarships
PhD funding at Oklahoma State University is typically a five-year package. The package combines a Graduate Research Assistantship, a nonresident tuition waiver, and one or more competitive fellowships. Indian PhD admits at OSU nearly always land a stipend of at least USD 20,000 (INR 18.90 Lakhs) yearly.
| Fellowship / Award | Amount | Eligibility | Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Distinguished Graduate Fellowship (DGF) | USD 5,000 to USD 10,000 (INR 4.73 to 9.45 Lakhs) supplement to base GA | New and continuing full-time OSU PhD students; nominated by department | Tentative February 1, 2026 (annual cycle) |
| Robberson Summer Dissertation Fellowship | USD 8,000 (INR 7.56 Lakhs) plus tuition waiver for 3 summer credit hours | Post-candidacy PhD students; any discipline | Tentative March 15, 2026 |
| Michael S. Hyatt Distinguished Graduate Fellowship | Departmental supplement; variable | Full-time MS students in the School of International Studies | Tentative March 1, 2026 |
| Dr. James G. Hromas Fellowship in Global Studies | Departmental supplement; variable | Post-baccalaureate students entering International Studies MS; GPA 3.0+ | Tentative March 1, 2026 |
| Graduate Research Assistantship (PhD 5-year track) | USD 18,810 to USD 21,861 yearly stipend (INR 17.78 to 20.66 Lakhs) plus full waiver | Admitted PhD; funding attached to a specific advisor’s grant | Rolling; secure before December 1, 2025 for Fall 2026 start |
Indian PhD applicants generally begin contacting faculty six to nine months before the intake to lock in a GRA slot. Read OSU’s global and subject rankings before finalising the target advisor because most funding sits inside the top-ranked research clusters.

Oklahoma State University Scholarships: Frequently Asked Questions
Ques. What is the maximum scholarship stack an Indian student can secure at Oklahoma State University?
Ans. Indian PhD admits stack a GRA stipend (up to INR 20.66 Lakhs yearly) with a nonresident tuition waiver. Layer on a Distinguished Graduate Fellowship worth up to INR 9.45 Lakhs and single-person insurance, and the package covers more than 95% of total cost. MS admits at Spears BAnDS or CEAT reach a similar net-zero package by pairing a GA with a Watson award or a Fulbright-Nehru grant.
Ques. When should Indian applicants apply for Oklahoma State University scholarships?
Ans. Submit the OSU admission application before the priority date, tentative March 1, 2026, for Fall 2026 undergraduate scholarship review. For graduate assistantships, complete the admission application by May 1, 2026, and email prospective faculty from February 2026 onward. Watson School universal scholarship applications open mid-February 2026 and close mid-May 2026.
Ques. Does Oklahoma State University require a separate scholarship application?
Ans. No separate application is needed for the International Achievement Freshman Scholarship, which is triggered automatically when a UG applicant submits a complete admission file. Graduate assistantships require a departmental review and direct faculty contact for research roles. Spears School programs use a single universal application that unlocks all Watson graduate awards at once.
Ques. What GPA and test scores does an Indian applicant need for the International Achievement Freshman Scholarship?
Ans. The highest tier of USD 60,000 (INR 56.70 Lakhs) needs a converted GPA of 3.75 or higher, roughly CBSE 90%+. English proficiency must clear IELTS 8.0, TOEFL iBT 117+, Duolingo 150+, PTE 81+, ACT 32 to 36, or SAT 1420 to 1600. The lowest tier accepts GPA 3.00 with the same test benchmarks and returns USD 54,000 (INR 51.03 Lakhs) over four years.
Ques. Will an Oklahoma State University assistantship cover Stillwater living costs for an Indian student?
Ans. A base GA stipend of USD 18,810 (INR 17.78 Lakhs) yearly delivers around USD 1,568 (INR 1.48 Lakhs) monthly during appointment months. Off-campus rent in Stillwater near OSU averages USD 500 to USD 700 monthly, and groceries plus utilities add another USD 400. The stipend fully covers rent, food, transport, and phone, and Indian TAs usually save USD 200 to USD 400 monthly.
Ques. Can Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowship recipients pursue an MS at Oklahoma State University?
Ans. Yes, Fulbright-Nehru Master’s fellows can join any US institution the placement team accredits. OSU accepts Fulbright funding for Spears BAnDS, MBA, and CEAT master’s tracks alongside USIEF paperwork. The grant covers tuition, monthly living, airfare, and health insurance for up to two years, and it cannot combine with a paid graduate assistantship.
Ques. What is the Watson Universal Scholarship Application at Oklahoma State University?
Ans. The Watson Universal Scholarship Application is a single Spears School form. It considers admitted MBA, Business Analytics, MIS, and Computer Science applicants for every named endowment scholarship in one round. Awards typically range from USD 1,000 to USD 8,000 (INR 0.95 to 7.56 Lakhs) per recipient, with the window opening in mid-February and closing in mid-May each admissions cycle.

- I liked the university campus which was very beutiful and calm. The people are nice and helpful.
- There are many events that happened throughout the semester. There are many organizations for the students to join and take part in extra curricular activities. There are many restaurants, bars and coffee shops in the town.
- The overall campus life was great.
Dislikes
- Most of the times the only travel options were carpooling or uber/lift.
- The only thing I did not like was that the college town was not very well connected to the nearby big cities.
- I rented my own 1 bedroom appartment. The rent and utilities were about $1000 a month. The students who apply for and get campus housing pay much less about 750 for a two-bedroom apartment, all-inclusive. So if they live with a roommate, the expenses are cut in half.

It is an excellent choice to get a degree from Oklahoma State University. In addition to being friendly, the staff is eager to teach what they are passionate about. Finding a good advisor can be very helpful if you're lucky enough to find one. With so many opportunities for involvement and education, this community is a great place to live. Both inside and outside the university, there are a lot of things to do. It is easy to find a job while in school and after graduation, and OSU does a great job of finding jobs for its students. I would recommend OSU to anyone considering it!

No
1) Low cost of living and good ROI. Stillwater is a small college town and not that expensive. Also the tuition fee of the program is not very high. There is good chance for assistanships from second semester onwards. Assistanships can cover lot of financial things. 2) The program is repurted and has straing alumuni base. 3) Good chances of internship. Good success rate in the program. 4) Mandatory to submit one research paper in SAS conference and also participate in case competitions. This gives very good exposure
Scholarship
Yes. Scholarship through Graduate Assistantship. You will be given this opportunity based on your GRE scores
I joined because my friends have joined before and gave a good overall review
