IIM Indore PI Shortlist Composite Score 2027 decides the Personal Interview call list. It applies to CAT 2026 candidates and the PGP 2027-29 batch. In the last cycle, General candidates needed 54.40 out of 100. The highest General score in that shortlist was 72.22.

The Composite Score is built out of 100 points. CAT sectional scores carry 55 points. Class 12 marks carry 25 points and Class 10 marks carry 10 points. A Diversity Factor adds 7 points and work experience up to 3.

Clearing the CAT percentile cutoff alone does not produce a call. IIM Indore also runs no separate application form for the PGP. Candidates select the IIM Indore PGP option during CAT 2026 registration. That window closes on September 15, 2026.

The weightage below is from the official 2026-28 admission procedure. The same structure is expected for the 2027-29 cycle. Every component adds up to a score out of 100.

School marks alone carry 35 of the 100 points. That is the heaviest board-marks weight among the older IIMs. A weak Class 12 record starts a candidate well behind.

How Class 10 and Class 12 Marks Are Normalised?

Raw board percentages are not used directly. IIM Indore converts them using a Z-score normalisation. This adjusts for boards that mark strictly and boards that mark generously.

The value is then scaled against the lowest and highest applicant. So the points depend on relative standing, not the printed percentage. A strict board's 92 percent can outscore a lenient board's 95.

Why the QA Section Carries the Most Weight?

Quantitative Ability is worth 23 points. VARC and DILR carry 16 each. The formula divides the candidate's score by that section's highest score.

So a strong QA score moves the Composite Score most. Candidates chasing an IIM Indore call gain the most from QA accuracy.

The funnel is steep. Around 2.27 Lakh CAT 2025 candidates marked interest in IIM Indore. Only 17,687 cleared the Stage 1 percentile gate for the PGP.

Composite Score Cutoff Trend Across the Last Two Cycles

The minimum Composite Score fell sharply in the 2026-28 cycle. IIM Indore had revised its shortlisting weights before that cycle. The Class 12 share was raised to 25 points.

A cutoff from one cycle is not a target for the next. The number shifts with the weights and the applicant pool. These figures work as reference bands only.

CAT 2026 Percentile Cutoffs Applied Before the Composite Score

The Composite Score is computed only for candidates who clear Stage 1. Every section must be cleared separately, along with the overall percentile. The 2026-28 thresholds are listed below.

A single weak section blocks the whole process. A General candidate at 98 overall but 78 in DILR is out. The Composite Score is never computed for that profile.

Diversity Factor and Work Experience Points Explained

The Diversity Factor is worth 7 points at the shortlisting stage. As per previous cycles, it rewards gender and academic diversity. Female and transgender candidates gain here. So do non-engineering graduates.

Work experience is worth a maximum of 3 points. That is the smallest block in the score. Freshers lose very little ground.

The 2026-28 shortlist shows this clearly. Of 5,054 PGP candidates called, 2,300 were freshers. Female candidates made up 1,887 of the list.

How to Calculate the IIM Indore Composite Score 2027?

Each CAT section is scaled against that section's highest score. Board marks are scaled between the lowest and highest normalised applicant. The parts are then added.

Example: A General category male engineer scores 60 in VARC. He scores 50 in DILR and 70 in QA. The section toppers score 90, 80 and 100.

His CAT points work out to 10.67, 10.00 and 16.10. That is 36.77 in total. A Class 12 factor of 0.80 adds 20.00 points. Class 10 at 0.70 adds 7.00 points.

He adds 3 work experience points and no diversity points. His Composite Score is 66.77. That clears the 54.40 General benchmark comfortably.

What Low Class 12 Marks Cost in the Composite Score?

Class 12 is the largest non-CAT block at 25 points. The damage from a weak board record is easy to size.

Example: A normalised Class 12 factor of 0.30 earns 7.50 points. A factor of 0.80 earns 20.00 points. The gap is 12.50 points on a 100-point scale.

Recovering that needs near-topper CAT sectionals or diversity points. A non-engineering female candidate recovers much of it through the Diversity Factor. Students report that weak board marks hurt IIM Indore calls the most.

PGP and PGP-HRM Composite Score Cutoffs Compared

One CAT application covers both programmes at IIM Indore. Candidates who tick the PGP option are also considered for PGP-HRM. The two shortlists use different score bands.

PGP-HRM shortlisted 3,323 candidates in that cycle. Its General cutoff sat well above the PGP figure. The two lists overlap, so many candidates get both calls.

When the IIM Indore PI Shortlist 2027 Will Be Released?

For the 2026-28 batch, IIM Indore informed shortlisted candidates in January 2026. The 2027-29 shortlist is expected on a similar timeline. Regret letters are not sent to candidates who miss out.

The shortlist is checked on the IIM Indore admissions page. It needs the CAT registration number or date of birth. Last cycle's interviews were held in seven cities. These were Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata and Mumbai.
