Why Was the FTII Entrance Test April 26, 2026 Exam Cancelled?

FTII conducted its 2025-26 entrance test on April 26, 2026 at centres across 28 cities. The exam collapsed at the Delhi centre within the first hour, and the fallout was severe enough for FTII to cancel the entire examination nationally. The key reasons reported and acknowledged are:

• Strong room breach at Delhi: The strong room holding question papers was breached after a delay in distribution, with packets arriving after the scheduled start time.
• Unsealed and pre-opened question paper packets: Students at the Delhi centre found packets that were torn or had visibly broken seals before distribution, raising immediate integrity concerns.
• Start delayed past 10 AM with no compensatory time: Students who arrived by 8:15 AM were still not seated in exam halls by 10 AM. No additional time was offered for the delay.
• Law and order situation: The failure to manage papers and students triggered a law and order situation at the Delhi centre.
• Misconduct across multiple centres: The FTII Students’ Association described the events as "gross misconduct and mismanagement" and stated that examination integrity was compromised at more than one centre.

Because the breach affected the integrity of the question paper itself, FTII decided to cancel the exam for all students across all papers and all centres — not just Delhi — to ensure no student had an unfair advantage.

FTII Re-Exam July 12, 2026 — Key Dates and Schedule

FTII initially announced a re-exam date after the April 26 cancellation. It then extended the date to July 12, 2026 through an official notice published on May 22, 2026. The re-examination will be held in offline (pen-and-paper) mode across the same 28 cities. All key dates are listed below:

What Students Need to Do Before the FTII Re-Exam on July 12

All students who registered for the April 26, 2026 FTII entrance test are automatically eligible for the July 12 re-exam. No new registration or payment is required. Follow this checklist to be ready:

1. Download your admit card from June 25: FTII will release re-exam admit cards on June 25, 2026. Log in to the official FTII portal using your registered credentials and save a copy.
2. Check your exam centre on the admit card: Your allotted centre will be printed on the re-exam admit card. Students who requested a city change between May 25–29, 2026 will see the updated centre reflected.
3. Carry a valid photo ID on exam day: Bring a government-issued photo ID — Aadhaar, passport, or voter card — along with your printed admit card to the examination hall.
4. No additional fee required: FTII has confirmed that no extra examination fee will be charged for the re-exam. Your earlier payment covers the re-examination.
5. Prepare with the same syllabus: The question paper structure and syllabus are unchanged. Use the additional time between now and July 12 to revise as per the original programme-specific syllabus.
