Assam State Scholarships are mostly offered under the Directorate of Higher Education scheme, Government of Assam. Currently, Assam Government provides 12 state scholarships. The government caters scholarships for students from class 1 to those in Ph.D., which gives financial assistance to the deprived for higher education. Candidates should apply online for Assam Scholarship schemes.

Assam scholarship application forms are mostly available in the scholarship section of the Directorate of Higher Education portal. These scholarships are offered for General, ST, and OBC categories of candidates as per the scheme of the scholarship. The scholarships are awarded based on merit in qualifying exams and also based on family income.

Latest Update: Chief Minister’s Sishu Sewa Scheme has been launched by the Assam Government to support children who have lost parents due to Covid-19. This scheme will be soon implemented by the Education and Social Welfare Department of Assam. The scholarship portal for Research Scholarship and Combined Degree Merit Scholarship is usually notified and processed from August to October month each year. Likewise, Pre-Matric and Post Matric Scholarships procedure starts from October to November.

Assam Minority Community Scholarships for Girls Students	During January to February	Eligibility- Candidates must be a permanent resident of the Assam state. They must have a minimum of 50% marks in their qualifying examination. They must be belonging to a Minority community i.e., Sikhs, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, Jains, and Parsis. Annual Income of their parents must not exceed INR 2 Lakhs. Assam Foundation of North America Akadamics Scholarship	During January to April	Eligibility- Candidates must have enrolled or are seeking to enrol in a UG course. They must have passed Pre-University/ Higher Secondary/ ISC/ CBSE/ or any equivalent examination. Annual income of each member of the family should be equal or less than INR 50,000. Category- All	Partial or Complete Tuition Fee Compensation is given.
Assam Means cum Merit Scholarship	During March to May	Eligibility- Aspirants must be domiciles of Assam. They must be pursuing a full-time general degree course in Art, Science, or Commerce stream in any provincialized or Government colleges of Assam. Parents or Guardians annual income must not exceed INR 2.5 Lakhs. They must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in their HSC Examination. Assam Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students	During November to January	Eligibility- Students from Class 1 to 10 are eligible. They must have a minimum of 60% attendance in their academics. Annual family income should not exceed INR 2.5 Lakhs. Category- OBC Read More Assam Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC	Class 3 to 10 hostellers- INR 500 per month for 10 months is paid. Class 1 to 10-day scholars- INR 100 per month for 10 months is paid.
Assam Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST Students (Class 9 & 10)	During November to January	Eligibility- Class 9 and 10 students of institutions recognized by the Assam state Government are eligible. Annual family income should not be exceeding the limit of INR 2 Lakhs. Category- ST	INR 350 will be paid to Hostellers per month for the span of 10 months. INR 150 will be paid to day scholars per month for the span of 10 months.
Assam Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST Students (Class 1 to 8)	During November to January	Eligibility- Class 1 to 8 students of institutions recognized by the Assam state Government are eligible. Annual family income should not exceed INR 50,000. Category- ST	INR 100 per month is paid.
Assam Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students	During October to November	Eligibility- All OBC Candidates having domicile of Assam are eligible. Parents or Guardians annual income from all sources should not be exceeding INR 1.5 Lakhs. Category- OBC Read More Assam Post-Matric OBC Scholarship	INR 750 per month as Maintenance Allowance for 10 months is paid. Up to INR 175 will be paid monthly as Reader charges. Maximum of INR 900 is paid as Study tour charges. Maximum of INR 1,000 is paid as Thesis typing and printing charges.
Assam Post-Matric Scholarship to ST students	During October to November	Eligibility- ST candidates with domicile of Assam are eligible. Annual Income of parents or guardians must not exceed 2 Lakhs. Category- ST	Maximum Maintenance allowance of INR 1,200 per month is paid. Maximum additional allowance of INR 240 per month is paid. Maximum Study tour charges of INR 1,600 is paid. Assam Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students	Candidates need to fill the online form for respective scholarship schemes via https://scholarships.gov.in/. Click on the ‘New Registration’ option. Click on ‘Continue’ to proceed after reading the registration guidelines. Fill up all mandatory fields and click on the “Register” button. Use the application ID and password to login after successful registration as received on the registered mobile number. Verify the OTP sent on the same mobile number. After that, one will get the option to change password and the user dashboard will open. Click on ‘Application Form’ to fill the form. Fill up the necessary details. Lastly, click on the “Final Submit” button.
