BMIHMS Eligibility Requirements for Indian Students

Compare IELTS and TOEFL options, or see the IELTS vs TOEFL comparison before booking.

Broader guidance on visa documents: Subclass 500 visa requirements, Australia study visa minimum percentage, and the EL3 document checklist.
Key insights: BMIHMS requires industry placement as part of every program. For Indian students on a Subclass 500 visa, paid placements at hotels like Hilton and Accor count towards work rights. Students can work 48 hours per fortnight. The placement is built into the course, not an extra optional internship. This is a major differentiator from general business schools at a similar fee level.
BMIHMS Postgraduate Courses, Fees & Entry Requirements
BMIHMS postgraduate programs are delivered at the Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide campuses. For exact fees, see the BMIHMS programs and fees page.
| Program | Total Fee | Duration / Intakes | Entry Requirements |

2 years / Jan, Apr, Jul, Sep (CRICOS 089931K) | • Bachelor's in any field • IELTS 6.0, no band below 5.5 • 1 industry experience unit |
The Master of International Hotel Management includes one industry experience unit. Graduates from the master's program report a 96% employment rate within six months of graduation (Kantar, 2024-2025). The program is suited to Indian graduates with an interest in international hospitality careers at luxury and five-star hotel brands.
Key insights: BMIHMS master's students with 2+ years of hospitality work experience may qualify for recognition of prior learning (RPL) credit. This can reduce the master's from 2 years to 18 months. Ask the BMIHMS International Admissions team about RPL eligibility before accepting the offer.
BMIHMS Undergraduate Courses, Fees & Entry Requirements
BMIHMS undergraduate programs start at the Leura campus in the Blue Mountains. Year 1 is residential practical learning. Students move to the Sydney Town Hall Campus for business subjects in Year 3. For exact fees, see the BMIHMS programs page.
| Program | Total Fee | Duration / Intakes | Entry Requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Diploma of Business (International Hotel Management) | AUD $37,485 total (₹25.85 Lakhs) |
1 year / Feb, Jun, Sep | • Class 12 or equivalent • IELTS 6.0, no band below 5.5 • Can articulate to bachelor's Year 2 |
| Bachelor of Business (International Hotel Management) | AUD $112,455 total (₹77.57 Lakhs) |
3 years / Feb, Jun, Sep | • CBSE 60% Class 12 • IELTS 6.0, no band below 5.5 • Two paid 6-month industry placements included |
The bachelor's total fee of AUD $112,455 is from the official Australian Government Study in Australia register. This includes all three years and the two paid industry placements at partner hotels. The placements are paid. Students earn AUD $25 to $40/hour during placement periods.
Key insights: BMIHMS UG students complete two six-month paid industry placements at top hotels worldwide. Indian students have been placed at Taj Hotels, Leela Palace, JW Marriott Mumbai, and Hyatt Regency internationally. The placements are arranged through BMIHMS industry connections, not individually sourced. This is the primary reason BMIHMS graduates achieve 96% employment rates within 6 months of graduation.
BMIHMS Acceptance Rate
BMIHMS acceptance rate is not officially published. BMIHMS is more selective than most private colleges in Australia, reflecting its specialist #1 Oceania ranking. Academic results, English scores, and expressed motivation for hospitality careers are the primary selection criteria. Students who do not meet the IELTS 6.0 requirement can enter via the ELP bridge program at the Leura campus.
How competitive is BMIHMS for Indian students?
BMIHMS is a specialist school with a limited annual cohort at each campus. The bachelor's program is residential at Leura, which naturally filters for applicants with a strong commitment to hospitality careers. Indian applicants from hotel or tourism management backgrounds, or those with relevant work experience, have stronger admission profiles. See the BMIHMS rankings and BMIHMS reviews for context on the school's standing.
Key insights: BMIHMS is the first school in Australia to implement the Swiss hotel management education model. The Leura campus is designed as a simulated hotel. Students live, eat, and serve at the campus hotel as part of their coursework. Indian applicants who have not read about this residential immersion model sometimes withdraw after arrival. Read the BMIHMS program structure carefully before applying to avoid this mismatch.

Overview
It is a partner university with the one back in Malaysia so it was convenient to do a twinning program here. Also, this university is Australia's leading hotel school for hospitality education hence it makes sense for me to choose this university.
Fees
The fee is a little pricey as compared to other courses and universities. However, it is worth the money. I did not have any other charges except for visa and insurance applications.
