Queensland University of Technology admissions for Indian students run on two intakes, February and July. Undergraduate entry is pegged at 60% across the best five Class XII subjects. Postgraduate entry needs a Bachelor’s GPA of 4.00 on QUT’s 7-point scale, roughly an Indian 60% average.

  • Next deadline: around late january 2027, the Semester 1 (February 2027)
  • Tuition AUD 38,900 to 64,400 yearly (INR 25.39 to 42.03 Lakhs), application fee AUD 100 (INR 6,527)
  • UG: Class XII 60% best of five. PG: Bachelor’s GPA 4.00 on 7-point scale. IELTS 6.5 overall
  • Acceptance rate around 77 to 80% (QUT publishes no official figure)

Indian applicants lean toward QUT’s information technology, data science, engineering, and international business master's programs, which feed into Brisbane’s tech and finance hiring corridors. Full ranking, campus, and placement details are available in the Queensland University of Technology overview.

Queensland University of Technology Application Deadlines

QUT runs two coursework intakes a year: Semester 1 starts in late February, Semester 2 starts in late July. Indian applicants must apply offshore through a QUT-registered agent before the published offshore deadline. Research degrees accept rolling applications all year. All dates below come from the QUT international key dates page.

Currency note: All INR figures in this article use AUD 1 = INR 65.27 (June 2026). Live rates may vary, so confirm with your bank before remitting.

QUT’s primary intake for Indian students is Semester 2 (July), where most coursework programs open, and the earlier published deadline falls.

Queensland University of Technology Eligibility for Indian Students

Eligibility at QUT splits cleanly into an academic floor and an English-proficiency floor. All the UG and PG requirements are course-specific, including English language requirements. Both must be cleared before the agent submits the application. Competitive courses such as Law, Architecture, and Nursing apply a higher cut than the institution-wide minimum.

  • UG general entry: Class XII at 60% average across the best five academic subjects (CBSE or CISCE)
  • UG competitive courses: Class XII 80 to 90% for Law, Nursing, and selected science streams
  • UG subject prerequisites: Mathematical Methods for Engineering, IT, and Science; English at Class XII level for most programs
  • PG general entry: Recognised Bachelor’s degree with GPA 4.00 on QUT’s 7-point scale, roughly 605 in an Indian undergraduate degree
  • PG cognate requirement: Some masters need a Bachelor’s in a related discipline or three years of professional work experience in the field

QUT accepts four English tests for proficiency. Use the lowest-scoring band you can clear comfortably, since QUT rejects any application where a sub-band falls below the published floor.

QUT does not accept IELTS Online, PTE Online, or TOEFL Home Edition for international admission. Book the in-centre version of the test.

Queensland University of Technology IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

QUT publishes three exemption pathways, but only one is realistically available to a fresh Indian school-leaver. If your Class XII transcript explicitly names English as the medium of instruction, QUT may accept a documented letter from your school in lieu of IELTS. This is reviewed case by case, and the QUT International team can still ask for IELTS if the documentation is thin. Year 12 completed in Australia, or one year of an Australian diploma at GPA 4.00 or higher, is the other pathway, but it does not help applicants studying entirely in India. Indian applicants who cannot meet the floor can also enrol in QUT College English at QUT Kelvin Grove as a packaged pathway into the main course.

Queensland University of Technology Postgraduate Programs

QUT’s postgraduate coursework portfolio for Indian students is concentrated in business, IT, data science, and engineering. Base tuition for international PG coursework sits between AUD 27,700 and 51,100 per year (INR 18.08 to 33.35 Lakhs), set per unit. The course-wise detailed fee breakdown for QUT lists the per-program tuition. Cost of attendance and living expenses sit on the Fees page rather than here.

Programme Duration Minimum Eligibility English Req. Min.
Master of Information Technology 1.5 to 2 years Bachelor’s in any discipline at GPA 4.00 (about 60%). 2-year stream open if no IT background IELTS 6.5
Master of Data Science 2 years Bachelor’s at GPA 4.00, with prior computing or quantitative units preferred IELTS 6.5
Master of Data Analytics 2 years Bachelor’s at GPA 4.00 in any discipline IELTS 6.5
Master of Business
(International Business)
1.5 years Bachelor’s at GPA 4.00 in any discipline IELTS 6.5
Master of Engineering Management 1 year Bachelor’s in engineering or technology, GPA 4.00 IELTS 6.5

QUT’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) is currently paused for international applicants and remains open only to Australian and New Zealand citizens. Indian applicants are not eligible to enrol in the MBA at this time and should track the QUT business page for the next intake opening.

Planning note: The Master of Information Technology runs a 1.5-year track for IT-background applicants and a 2-year track for non-IT graduates. Mention your preferred stream on the application, but QUT auto-assesses the shorter track first if your transcript supports it.

Queensland University of Technology Undergraduate Programs

QUT’s undergraduate base tuition for international students sits between AUD 38,900 and 64,400 per year (INR 25.39 to 42.03 Lakhs), with Engineering, Health, and Law sitting at the upper end. Most UG programs accept Class XII at 60% across the best five subjects, but competitive streams expect 80% or higher.

Programme Duration Minimum Eligibility English Req. Min.
Bachelor of Information Technology 3 years Class XII at 60% best of five, with General or Mathematical Methods IELTS 6.5
Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) 4 years Class XII 60% plus Mathematical Methods and English at Class XII level IELTS 6.5
Bachelor of Business 3 years Class XII at 60% best of five IELTS 6.5
Bachelor of Science 3 years Class XII 60% with Mathematical Methods for STEM majors IELTS 6.5
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) 4 years Class XII at 80% or higher, competitive IELTS 6.5

Queensland University of Technology Application Process

QUT requires every applicant resident in India to apply through an authorised QUT representative. The agent submits your file through the StudyLink-powered QUT Application Portal. Direct applications from Indian addresses are returned and not processed.

  1. Pick a QUT-listed agent in India from the QUT representatives directory on the official site
  2. Hand your agent certified academic transcripts, English score, passport scan, SOP, and references
  3. The agent creates the StudyLink file and submits it to QUT International with course preferences ranked
  4. Pay the application fee of AUD 100 (INR 6,527) on the QUT International Application Portal via Flywire (card or wire)
  5. QUT International returns a conditional or unconditional offer letter, usually in 4 to 6 weeks
  6. Accept the offer by the published deadline and pay the tuition deposit and OSHC charge
  7. QUT issues the electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) once payment clears
  8. Lodge the Subclass 500 student visa application with the CoE and supporting documents

Queensland University of Technology Admission Decisions

QUT International typically returns a decision in 4 to 6 weeks from a complete submission. Decisions arrive as either a conditional offer, an unconditional offer, or a package offer combining an English program with the main course.

  • Conditional offer: Common when IELTS, final transcript, or work experience letter is still pending
  • Unconditional offer: Issued only when every entry condition is met. Triggers deposit and OSHC payment
  • Acceptance deadline: For Semester 2 (July 2026) offshore applicants, the offer must be accepted by July 2026
  • Deferral policy: QUT allows one deferral to the next intake within the same year on written request, subject to course availability
  • Confirmation of Enrolment: The CoE is issued after the deposit clears and is the input for the Subclass 500 student visa lodgement

Queensland University of Technology Documents Required

The agent compiles this paperwork before submitting on StudyLink. All certificates must be notarised English copies or original English-medium documents. Quality of the SOP and references is heavier than the page count.

  • Passport bio page valid at least six months past the planned course end
  • Class XII mark sheet and passing certificate (notarised English copy)
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate, consolidated transcript, and grading scale letter, for PG applicants
  • Valid IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE, or Cambridge score report inside the two-year validity window
  • Statement of Purpose of 500 to 800 words covering course fit, career goal, and India linkage
  • Two Letters of Recommendation, one academic plus one professional for PG with work experience
  • Updated CV listing internships, projects, publications, and any work experience
  • Work experience letters on company letterhead for PG programs that need them
  • Bank statement or sanctioned education loan letter covering tuition, OSHC, travel, and one year of living costs
  • Two recent passport-size photographs as per QUT specification
  • Research proposal of 2 to 3 pages and supervisor email confirmation, for PhD applicants only

Queensland University of Technology Acceptance Rate

QUT does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party estimates put the rate between 77 and 80%, based on QUT’s access-oriented entry profile that admits most applicants meeting the stated Class XII or Bachelor’s threshold. Competitive courses such as Law, Architecture, and Nursing run far tighter than the institution-wide figure, while general Business and IT masters track the higher end. QUT sits in a strong global ranking band for Communication and Media, Law, and Engineering.

Why Queensland University of Technology Publishes No Official Rate

QUT, like most Australian public universities, operates on a published-threshold model. An applicant who meets the academic and English floor for a specific course is usually offered a seat in that course, subject only to capacity. Because the offer logic is mostly mechanical, QUT does not assemble an institution-wide selectivity figure the way US schools do. Use the program-specific threshold as your real benchmark.

Queensland University of Technology Indian Applicant Profile

Indian applicants who land offers comfortably typically arrive with Class XII at 65 to 75% for general UG courses, or Bachelor’s at 65 to 75% for PG masters, plus IELTS 7.0 to clear sub-band risks. For competitive courses, push the Class XII average to 85% or higher. Strong SOPs that link the program to an Australia-specific career path or a research interest in QUT’s known strengths help close marginal applications.

Insider note: A package offer combining QUT College English with the main course is not a rejection. Indian applicants who arrive with IELTS 6.0 overall and want to start in July are often issued the package and progress to the main degree after the English block.

QUT remains a high-fit choice for Indian applicants who want a Brisbane-anchored degree in IT, data, engineering, or international business with a published 60% Class XII or GPA 4.00 floor, IELTS 6.5, and AUD 100 application fee. The next live cycle is Semester 2 (July 2026), closing 29 June 2026, with Semester 1 (February 2027) opening soon after.

Scholarship

  • No, I did not receive any scholarship.
  • The eligibility criteria are your previous academics and also any work experience in the field. The other major criterion is if you have any previous Australian degree with a good academic GPA, then you have a good chance for scholarships.
  • Genomics was a very niche programme but universities do provide some 10-20% discount in student fees for many courses to attract international students. The Universities generally advertise giving around 1000 to 2000 scholarships ranging from $1000 to $15,000.

Scholarship

  • Yes, I received the merit scholarship, which exempts you of up to 25% of the semester fee. People might get less than 25%; the decision is solely up to the college. The scholarship continues if you satisfy the criteria of achieving a certain grade in each semester.
  • I received the entire 25% of the scholarship, which amounted to $4,600.
  • Yes, one of them received the same scholarship as mine but he got an exemption worth about 20%.
  • I am not sure of the exact number but if the student applying for a scholarship has got at least 80% in their preceding degree, there is a chance of them getting the scholarship. Again, the exact amount depends on what the college deems fit.

Networking and travel opportunities in which QUT was able to offer me in addition to my studies itself. QUT offers many short and long term exchange programs as well as study tours which allows small groups of students to travel overseas and gain credible experiences

Overview

I elected to go to QUT due to its reputation. I had heard and researched that QUT had one of the best technology courses and curriculum in comparison to other universities teaching the same course. Its location is in the middle of the city also made it easy for me to reach it from work.

Scholarship

No, I never applied for any so I am not informed enough to guide you on how to apply for this. I don't believe it'd be too difficult though.

Overview

QUT has a good ranking which will give me a recognized degree, and also with their learning resources outside the classroom, it will allow me to gain practical knowledge. Brisbane being a very hospital city made me consider it as well.

Scholarship

I haven't received any scholarship although I have tried applying. My plan is to apply for aid during the next year.
