Campus

The main campus of Vancouver Island University is located at Nanaimo. Student accommodations are available on this campus. This campus houses the Faculty of Management Centre which is certified Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design. Apart from this, the campus is also the home to the university bookstore & Richard W.Johnson Centre.

An international candidate must prove his/her proficiency in English through English Language Tests accepted by VIU. Following tests and scores are accepted by the University as a measure of English Proficiency.

  • Bursaries: Bursaries are a small amount of money to supplement the funding. VIU grants bursaries based on minimum course load requirements of 60% and grade point average requirements of 2.0 or better.
  • Loans: Grants and Loans will be provided for funding of the program at low or no interest rates.  Grants will only be provided to meritorious students of VIU.

Work While You Study

VIU provides part time on and off-campus work opportunities under its Work-Op program. It offers these opportunities with various employers hosted by VIU’s Centre of Experiential Learning.

Over 200 part-time jobs are available for students. Students can work up to 8 hours per week during the semester and full time during breaks between semesters. Payment ranges from CAD 10 to CAD 15 per hour.

Students can opt for:

  • Internships programs in Aboriginal Ecotourism, Bachelor of Arts, Interior Design, Creative Writing, Criminology, Physical Education and MBA.
