Wilfrid Laurier University was renamed in 1973 in honor of Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the seventh prime minister of Canada. The university is home to over 20,000 students from all over the world. 

The university offers several different programs at the levels of undergraduate and graduate in a range of subjects like accounting, sociology, computer science, political science, social work, psychology, applied sciences, archaeology, law, mathematics, biology, business, computer sciences, music, economics, culture, journalism, philosophy, etc.

Wilfrid Laurier University International Admissions

Wilfrid Laurier University is considered one of the best and fastest-growing universities in Canada. International students are allowed to work part-time and gain experience on campus during their studies through an international student work experience program. As the university’s first preferred language is English. Students must submit proof of English proficiency to the university’s requirement and admission office if their native language is not English.

Academic Requirements:

  • Proof of English proficiency.
  • Submit TOFEL or IELTS score to Wilfrid Laurier university
  • When students have completed a full-time study in an English-language school system for a period of three years, students can request for exemption from English proficiency testing.
  • Students can submit transcripts copy as proof that they have completed their studies in an English language school system for a minimum period of three years. Documents should be in a sealed or stamped envelope from the school directly or students can submit scanned copy through the LORIS account.
  • If students are academically eligible for the course but are not meeting the English proficiency requirements needed by the university then they can apply for Laurier English and Academic Foundation program (LEAF).
  • A student must be eligible for levels 3, 4, or 5 for applying in the LEAF program. Eligibility is considered on the basis of the latest English proficiency test score. Students are qualified to pursue the program only after completion of the 5th level.
  • A student visa is required.
  • Copy of passport.

Visa Process For International Students

  • International students can apply only after receiving the official acceptance letter from Wilfrid Laurier University.
  • Students are required to submit biometrics for obtaining student visa if they are from the Middle East, Europe, or Africa.
  • Students must send a copy of the information page of passport if applying online and after approval, they can send the original passport

Academic Requirements:

  • 105F application form must be filled by International students.
  • Other applicants and transfer students must submit the 105 application form.
  • Canadian applicants who did not attend Ontario high school must apply through 105D applicants.
  • Students must submit unofficial transcripts in a sealed or stamped envelope from the school directly or students can submit scanned copy through the LORIS account.
  • Proof of English language proficiency must be submitted by international students.
  • For evaluation top six 4U AND 4M courses would be considered. Student’s percentage should be 60 or more than 60 and the subject includes English.
    • 4U: grade 12 university-level course.
    • 4M: grade 12 university or college-level course.

Wilfrid Laurier University Graduate Admissions

Applicants can apply through Ontario University Application Centre. After submitting the application, students will receive an email from the university gradadmissions@wlu.ca to remind students to send the appropriate documents to the Laurier online registration and information system. Applicants should log in to LORIS website through ID and PIN number provided by the university.

  • Supplement documents such as transcripts, English proficiency test scores, reference letters, permanent residents, Sponsorship should be in PDF format.
  • Encrypted and secured files will not be approved by the university.
  • The maximum size of the PDF should be 1.2 MB. Students can scan files in black and white to reduce MB.

Ans. Students who decided to drop a course will not be offered any refund.

Ques. In what ways winter courses impact student’s progression requirements?

Ans. The assessment of advancement criteria, usually performed in April or August 2020, was pushed to April or August 2021. Students will still be expected to complete all the basic requirements for their course. University assures that students will not be removed.

Ques. Will the university offer a refund for the tuition of winter term students?

Ans. The university will not issue any type of refund to students. Although the university is providing all courses online to meet the student’s requirements.

Ques. Will spring, intersession, and summer 2020 incidental fees be reduced?

Ans. The university with Wilfrid Laurier university student union and graduate students association will eliminate certain incidental fees for spring, intersession, and summer 2020.
