International applicants are a huge part of Wilfrid Laurier University. Every year, the university receives applications from international students across the world.
Apart from the academic and supplementary requirements, there are two additional factors that are an important part of international admissions. One is the English proficiency and other is the visa process.
Since the medium of instruction is English, Wilfrid Laurier University expects international applicants to have a good command over the language. To demonstrate their fluency in the English language, applicants can submit any one of the following test scores:
|English Proficiency Test||Minimum Required Score (Undergraduate)||Minimum Required Score (Graduate)|
|Michigan Language Assessment (MELAB)||85||90|
|Canadian academic English language Assessment (CAEL)||70||-|
|Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE)||59||60|
|Cambridge Assessment English (CAE)||176||70|
If the applicants qualify academically but do not meet the English proficiency requirements, then they can apply for Laurier English and Academic Foundation (LEAF). After successfully completing the LEAF program, they can start their undergraduate studies at Laurier University.
International applicants may require a permit to study in Canada. It is not exactly a visa but it allows international students to stay in Canada for the duration of their course.
To receive the study permit, applicants require the following documents:
