Acadia University Application Deadlines

Acadia University follows a rolling admissions model for all three intakes, per the Acadia international applicants page. Fall (September) is the primary intake for Indian students and opens the widest range of undergraduate and graduate programs. Winter (January) and Summer (May) open a limited catalogue, mostly for undergraduate transfers.

Acadia University Eligibility for Indian Students

Acadia University uses an access-oriented model, meaning it admits most applicants who clear its stated academic and English thresholds. Indian applicants must meet both a subject-level academic floor and a proficiency test benchmark before their file is reviewed.

• UG general entry: Class XII (CBSE, ISC, or State Board) with 60 percent overall.
• UG science and engineering: Class XII with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as required by the program.
• PG masters: Recognised bachelor’s degree with 70 percent (2.67 GPA) in the final 90 credit hours.
• MSc Computer Science: Bachelor’s in CS or Computer Engineering with B- (70%) or better in prerequisite courses.
• PhD Educational Studies: Master’s degree with A- (80%) average in the highest degree.

English language proficiency is required for all applicants whose first language is not English. Acadia accepts six tests at the following institution-wide minimums, verified on the official admissions site:

Acadia does not publish a country-of-prior-study or medium-of-instruction waiver policy for Indian applicants, so plan to submit a test score. Foundation or pathway programs are not required if you meet the minimum.

Acadia University Postgraduate Programs

Acadia University runs a small graduate cohort of roughly 176 students across three faculties, with masters programs concentrated in sciences, education, and community development. Base tuition for a two-year MSc is CAD 19,907 (₹13.46 Lakhs) per year, and one-year MA programs total CAD 27,626 (₹18.68 Lakhs). Insider note: The Jodrey School of Computer Science only offers a research-based thesis MSc — Acadia does not run a course-based MSc CS. Secure a supervisor before you apply.

Acadia University Undergraduate Programs

Acadia University offers more than 200 undergraduate degree combinations across four faculties, based on the graduate and undergraduate calendar. Base tuition for international undergraduate students is CAD 25,172 (₹17.02 Lakhs) per year for 2026-2027, with total fees of CAD 28,467 (₹19.25 Lakhs) after mandatory ancillary charges.

Acadia University uses the Block Model in some first-year seminars, meaning students take an intensive small-cohort course before joining full semester load. This helps international first-years settle into Canadian academic rhythms.

Acadia University PhD Admissions

Acadia University offers one doctoral pathway to Indian students: the joint Nova Scotia PhD in Educational Studies, delivered with Mount Saint Vincent University and St. Francis Xavier University. Students register at Acadia University but take coursework across the three campuses.

Program duration is normally four to six years. Applicants need a master’s degree from a recognised university in Education or a related field, with a completed graduate thesis and an A- (80%) average in the highest degree.

• Application deadline: 1 February 2027 for Fall 2027 funding consideration.
• Research proposal: A clearly conceptualised research topic must accompany the application.
• Funding: Scholarships and graduate teaching assistantships are limited. Confirm your funding plan before you accept an offer.

Insider note: The Jodrey School of Computer Science and other Acadia MSc programs do not currently offer a PhD track. Doctoral applicants in the sciences must look at partner Nova Scotia universities.

Acadia University Application Process

Acadia University uses its own applicant portal for undergraduate applications, and program-specific graduate applications route through the School of Graduate Studies. The undergraduate application takes about 15 minutes to complete online.

1. Create your account on the Acadia UG portal or the graduate application portal. Fall 2027 undergraduate applications opened on 21 September 2026.
2. Choose your program and intake (Fall, Winter, or Summer). Fall is the primary intake for Indian students and offers the widest program list.
3. Fill in your academic history, list Class XII subjects and marks, and add any Bachelor’s-level coursework if applying at PG level.
4. Upload the required documents (see the Documents section).
5. Pay the application fee of CAD 40 (₹2,705) for undergraduate or CAD 50 (₹3,382) for graduate on the Acadia UG portal via credit card.
6. Request official transcripts from your Class XII board or Indian university to be sent directly to the admissions office.
7. Track your file, respond to any conditional-offer clauses, and confirm your seat by the acceptance deadline stated on your offer letter.

Planning note: Acadia does not use a central Canadian admissions platform. Ontario applicants may know OUAC, but Nova Scotia universities including Acadia use their own portals directly.

Acadia University Admission Decisions

Because Acadia University runs rolling admissions, undergraduate decisions typically arrive within four to six weeks of a complete application. Scholarship notifications for Fall applicants who submitted by 1 March 2027 are released in mid-April 2027.

• Offer letter format: Emailed as an official PDF from the Office of Admissions with your student ID.
• Conditional offers: Common for Class XII students still awaiting board results — clearance is contingent on final marks matching the 60 percent threshold.
• Acceptance deposit: A confirmation fee is required to reserve your seat and trigger the Letter of Acceptance for the study permit application.
• Deferral policy: Undergraduate offers may be deferred to a later intake within the same academic year on request to the admissions office.

Graduate decisions for Fall entry are usually released between March and May, depending on the faculty and supervisor’s availability. PhD Educational Studies decisions are made by a joint committee across the three partner universities.

Documents Required for Acadia University

Indian applicants must upload the following documents to the Acadia University portal or arrange for them to be sent directly by the issuing institution. All documents must be in English or accompanied by a certified translation.

• Passport: Bio-data page scan, valid for at least the full duration of your intended study.
• Class X and Class XII mark sheets: Certified copies from CBSE, ISC, or your state board.
• Class XII passing certificate once available (for conditional offer clearance).
• Bachelor’s transcripts and degree certificate for graduate applicants, sent directly by your Indian university.
• English test score report: IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, Duolingo, CAEL, or Cambridge English.
• Statement of Purpose (SOP) for graduate applicants, explaining research fit.
• Two letters of reference for MSc, MA, MEd, and PhD applicants — from faculty who taught you.

Financial proof, medical checks, and biometric documents belong to the Canadian study permit stage, not the Acadia admission stage.

Acadia University Acceptance Rate

Acadia University does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Independent education-sector surveys estimate the overall acceptance rate at 55 to 65 percent, placing Acadia in the access-oriented band among Canadian primarily-undergraduate universities. This estimate is based on competitive-intake program patterns and is not sourced from the university’s own admissions office.

Insider note: International students form roughly 6 percent of first-year enrolment, drawn from over 50 countries. Indian applicants who clear the 60 percent Class XII floor and the IELTS 6.5 threshold have a very reasonable chance of admission for Fall.

Programs with a research-based supervisor requirement, notably MSc Computer Science and MSc Psychology, effectively narrow the intake because a faculty member must formally accept to supervise you. This is not a strict quota but functions like one.

Canada Student Visa Process for Acadia University Applicants

Indian students admitted to Acadia University must apply for a Canadian Study Permit through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The Student Direct Stream (SDS) route closed on 8 November 2024, so all Indian applicants now use the Standard Stream. Processing time is 8 to 12 weeks, so submit as early as your Letter of Acceptance allows.

The study permit application fee is CAD 150 (₹10,145) plus biometrics of CAD 85 (₹5,749). You must show a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of at least CAD 20,635 (₹13.95 Lakhs) with an IRCC-approved Canadian bank, plus proof of first-year tuition paid. Undergraduate applicants also need a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) from Nova Scotia, arranged by Acadia after you accept your offer.

After arrival in Wolfville, register with the international office at Acadia within the first week for orientation, health cover setup, and on-campus banking. Your study permit conditions are printed on the entry stamp at the Canadian port of entry.

2026 update: Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility has narrowed for some diploma streams, but Acadia University degree programs at bachelor’s and master’s level continue to qualify for a PGWP of up to three years.
