Acadia University reviews Indian applicants against country-specific benchmarks. Undergraduate entry needs Class XII at 65 to 70 percent depending on faculty, and graduate entry needs a Bachelor’s with a B- (70 percent) average in the last two years of the major field.

Acadia University Application Process Steps

Acadia University uses its own online application portal, and there is no Canada-wide or Nova Scotia-wide central platform. The form takes around 15 minutes to fill and can be completed once the Fall cycle opens on 21 September.

1. Create an account on the Acadia online application portal after 21 September for Fall admission.
2. Choose your intended program, campus start term and study level (UG or PG).
3. Fill in academic history, contact details, permanent address and citizenship information.
4. Upload official Class XII marksheets (UG), or Bachelor’s transcripts and consolidated marksheet (PG).
5. Upload your IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or Duolingo score card, or the MOI letter if you claim a waiver.
6. Pay the application fee of CAD 40 (around INR 2,712) for UG or CAD 100 (around INR 6,780) for PG on the Acadia application portal via credit card.
7. Submit the form and note your Acadia student ID for later document tracking.

Postgraduate applicants also upload a CV, statement of research interest, writing sample (arts programs), and letters of reference at the same stage.

Acadia University Admission Decisions Timeline

Acadia University sends admission decisions on a rolling basis once your file is complete. Undergraduate offers arrive within four to six weeks of a complete application. Graduate offers follow once the supervisor and department confirm your fit.

• Offer letter: issued 4 to 6 weeks after a complete file. Scholarship notifications go out by mid-April for Fall entry.
• Acceptance deadline: usually 1 May for Fall applicants who receive early offers, with a 2 to 3 week window for later offers.

Canada Student Visa Process for Acadia University

Indian students admitted to Acadia University need a Canada Study Permit issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The Student Direct Stream (SDS) was closed in November 2024, so all applications now route through the standard study permit process.

You apply online through the IRCC portal after receiving your Letter of Acceptance and the Nova Scotia Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL). Standard processing from India is 8 to 12 weeks, so submit at least three months before your program start date.

Financial proof is the largest hurdle. From 1 September 2026, IRCC requires proof of at least CAD 22,895 (around INR 15.52 Lakhs) in living costs, in addition to first-year tuition and return airfare. A Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) with a Canadian bank is the most trusted proof.

Post-arrival, you must register with the Acadia International Centre within two weeks, enrol in the ASU health and dental plan, and open a Canadian bank account for tuition payments.

2026 update: IRCC now requires the Nova Scotia PAL for every study permit application. Acadia University issues this alongside your Letter of Acceptance. Do not submit the study permit without it.
