The university is composed of 6 faculties and 27 departments that offer various Bachelor's & Master’s degree programs. Mac also offers various certifications, diplomas, continuing education, and doctorate programs. 

Regarded as one of the top universities to study in Canada, McMaster University is home to nearly 4500 international students. For 2019-20 class, 11% international student were a part of the McMaster University undergraduate programs and around 27% were a part of university’s graduate programs. International students who wish to take admission in an undergraduate course offered by the McMaster University will need to fill the OUAC 105 International Application form.

  • It offers admission to international applicants for most of its programs in fall sessions.

McMaster University Admission Deadlines

The deadline dates vary for most of the programs offered by McMaster. Moreover, deadlines vary for domestic and international applicants. International applicants are advised to submit their application well before the deadline date. This will help in getting the Canadian student visaissued on time.

Note: Applicants are advised to check the deadline day once by visiting the program page before applying. McMaster University may close the application process for a particular course before the deadline if seats get filled. Additionally, the deadlines for submission of supporting dcument required along with application may vary from application deadlines for some programs. 

As per last years applicatons and enrollments, it was observed that the top three faculties receiving maximum number of enrollments were: Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Health Sciences.

Applying to McMaster is a basic 5 step procedure, begining with the basic research of the programs at univerity websiteor through infromation centers in your region/country. 

  1. Explore your academic and career goals and make a choice of the program you wish to pursue
  2. Apply Online through OUAC. International freshman can apply online through OUAC 105
    • ​Submit supplementary application for engineering, integrated business & humanities, nursing, health sciences, integrated science, arts & science, and integrated biomedical engineering & health sciences. 
  3. Stay updated with Mosiac Application Portal of McMaster. You can also follow the Mosaic at twitter, instagram, facebook, and snapchat. 
    • Updates on application status are sent within 4-5 weeks post receiving the neccessary documents through OUAC. 
  4. Review the decision sent by the university and accept your offer
    • Applications for residence should be made as soon as offers are accepted. 
  5. Attend orientation
    • Overview the class schedule, course structure
    • Submit application for financial aid for studying at McMaster. 

This process applies to both international and domestic student expect for the application form required. However, the requirements for international applicants vary, the details for the same are discussed below

McMaster University International Student Admission

McMaster University offers admission to international students based on their academic excellence, English proficiency, and letter of intent among other factors. As of Fall 2018, 13.3% of the total students at Mac are international from around 120 countries. International applicants who wish to study in Canada have to satisfy certain additional requirements than their domestic counterparts to be eligible for admission.

Admission Requirements for International Students

  • Official transcripts of all the educational institutions attended previously.
    • If the transcripts are not in English then they have to be submitted along with an English translation from a recognized Credential Evaluation Agency.

Test Score Requirements

International applicants who belong to a country where English is not the first language must provide the score of one of the tests mentioned below to show English Language Proficiency while applying to study in Canada. The minimum score required to be considered for admission varies according to the level of the program opted.

Visa Requirements for International Students

International applicants who desire to study in Canada are required to get a Canadian student visa also known as a Study Permit and a temporary resident visa. They can apply for a study permit after they have received an acceptance letter from McMaster University.

Applicants are advised to apply for the required visa/student permit as soon as possible. Following documents are to be submitted for the study permit and the temporary visa:

McMaster University Admission Decision

McMaster University follows a good screening process before granting admission to as it is one of the best universities for higher education in Canada. The university receives more than 1 lakh applications every year.
