DeGroote School of Business is located in the main campus of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.

Residence

Apart from standard housing information, school puts an emphasis on the ideal location while staying at DeGroote:

  • Free shuttle bus to commute between Hamilton and Burlington while pick-up on the main campus of McMaster University campus.
  • The city of Burlington does not offer lot of options for residence.

Pre-requisites

English Language Proficiency Tests

Undergraduate Program

The Undergraduate MD program needs a minimum of three years of study at an English-medium university prior to McMaster’s.

Graduate Program

Recommended GRE score of 315+ on the combined verbal and quantitative section for MBA

Doctoral Programs

  • Choose the field of study from Accounting, Finance, Health Management, Information Systems, Management of Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources, Management Science and Marketing.
  • Completion of Master’s degree before registering in the Ph.D. program.
  • Completion of master's degree with the B+ grade.
  • A GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) score of at least 600 and GRE (Graduate Records Exam) score is also acceptable with a minimum 80% in the quantitative score.
  • TOEFL or IELTS score required.
  • A letter from the university confirming the language of instruction should be included with the transcript.

Steps for admission

  1. Fill out the online application form by entering the program of the candidate’s choice and start date.
  2. Fill the details like personal details, LinkedIn profile, citizenship details.
  3. Application advisor will contact the applicant to confirm the details.
  4. Resume, official transcripts, GMAT or GRE score, English proficiency test are needed based on the required level of the programs.
  5. Two reference profiles need to be submitted
  6. Two video questions and one written response
  7. Personal Interview

There is no application fee. (New applicants are charged with a refundable deposit of CAD1000 which will be added to the first term fee)

International Students:

  • All international students must obtain a Canadian Study Permit to study in Canada and complete the Queen’s MBA program after receiving an offer of admission from Smith School of Business.
  • Depending on your country of citizenship you may also need to have a Temporary Resident Visa to enter Canada.
  • To decide your student visa requirements and to apply for a student visa to go to Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Other requirements while entering Canada

 You will need to provide:

  • A passport which is valid for six months after you return home.
  • Acceptance letter from the university.
  • Evidence of adequate funds to cover the cost of tuition and living expenses for the students and any dependents coming to Canada with them.
  • Entry visa and student permit.
  • University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) is mandatory for all students

Work After Graduation

One can work post their graduation after obtaining a work permit. The post-graduation work permit is valid for the same duration as that of the last study program the students have completed. Students have to fulfill the following conditions.

  1. Must have been a full-time student in Canada and must possess Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) depending on country of citizenship.
  2. Completed with a study program with a minimum duration of 8 months
  3. Apply for the work permit within 90 days of receiving a document declaring completion of studies.
  4. Must have a valid study permit.
