What Carleton Changed for the 2027 Entrance Cycle

Carleton has moved the automatic scholarship floor up by five percentage points. Applicants with 80 to 84% averages once secured a renewable award. That route is gone for the 2027 intake. The official Entrance Scholarships page now lists three tiers starting at 85%.

The maximum four-year renewable payout has also shifted. Students in the 95 to 100% band receive C$3,000 each year. That totals C$12,000, the new ceiling for the automatic route.

The 85% tier is the most likely bracket for Indian Class 12 admits. A CBSE or ISC score of 85% lands the smallest slab. That pays C$1,000 a year, near ₹69,000, for the four-year honours track.

How Do Indian Students Apply for the Entrance Scholarship?

The renewable Entrance Scholarship needs no separate form. Carleton reviews the admission average during the admission decision itself. Applicants only need to submit a complete application by June 15, 2027.

• For higher-value competitive awards, separate forms apply. The Prestige Scholarship requires an application with a reference letter. Its deadline is March 1, 2027, for admits at 90% or above. Engineering applicants may apply for the David Muir Scholarship, worth C$7,500 in year one. That form is due April 3, 2027. The Pamela and Richard Joho Scholarship for Humanities also closes on April 3, 2027.
• Indian applicants can also compete for the Arthur Kroeger National Scholarships. These pay C$2,000 each and go to up to ten admits, with no separate deadline. A new President’s Welcome Award pays C$2,000 to C$5,000 for international direct entrants.
