Mount Saint Vincent University Application Deadlines for Indian Students
MSVU runs three intakes each year — September (Fall), January (Winter), and May (Summer) — with the September cycle acting as the primary intake, opening most undergraduate and graduate programs. International deadlines are set per the official MSVU application deadlines page, and Fall 2027 undergraduate applications open on 21 September 2026.
MSVU’s primary intake for Indian students is September (Fall) — most undergraduate and graduate programs open here.

Mount Saint Vincent University Eligibility for Indian Students
Eligibility at MSVU covers two thresholds — an academic floor benchmarked to Canadian grading, and an English-proficiency floor set at the institution level. Indian applicants clear the academic bar through Class XII marks and equivalent Bachelor’s percentages, then match one of the accepted English tests.
- UG general entry: Class XI and XII with grades of A, B, or C (roughly 60 to 70 percent) and a Class XII GPA of at least 2.0 on the 4.0 scale.
- PG general entry: A four-year Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA on the 4.0 scale, which corresponds to around 65 percent in Indian marking.
- Prerequisite subjects: Program-specific — for example, B.Sc. Applied Human Nutrition needs Class XII Biology and Chemistry.
English scores accepted for undergraduate entry are drawn from the MSVU English test score requirements page.
| Test | UG Minimum | Graduate Minimum |
|---|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | 6.5 overall (no band below 6.0) | 7.0 overall (no band below 6.5) |
| TOEFL iBT | 86 to 92 (no section below 21) | 93+ (no section below 23) |
| PTE Academic | 59 overall (no band below 54) | 61 overall (no band below 54) |
| Duolingo English Test | 115 overall (no sub-score below 95) | Not accepted |
| CAEL | 60 overall (no band below 60) | 70 overall (no band below 70) |
| MELAB | 80 to 84 | 85 or above |
MSVU does not publish a standing MOI (medium of instruction) waiver or country-based English exemption on its requirements page — Indian applicants schooled entirely in English still need to submit one of the tests above.
Mount Saint Vincent University PG Programs for Indian Students
MSVU’s graduate portfolio is anchored in Education, Applied Human Nutrition, Public Relations, and Family Studies. Most master’s programs share the institution-wide floor — Bachelor’s with a 3.0 GPA plus IELTS 7.0 — but individual programs layer on prerequisite subjects, interviews, or portfolio requirements. Base tuition sits at around CAD 2,400 (INR 1.65 Lakhs) per graduate course; see the detailed fee breakdown for course-load totals.

Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official MSVU graduate studies page for your chosen program before applying.
Mount Saint Vincent University UG Programs for Indian Students
MSVU offers 40+ undergraduate programs across Arts, Science, Business, Public Relations, Tourism, and Education. All UG entries share the same academic floor — Class XI and XII grades of A/B/C — with individual programs adding prerequisite Class XII subjects. Base tuition is around CAD 2,076 (INR 1.43 Lakhs) per regular course and CAD 2,113 (INR 1.45 Lakhs) per lab course, with a full ten-course year costing about CAD 20,766 (INR 14.26 Lakhs).
| Programme | Duration | Minimum Eligibility | English Req. Min. |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bachelor of Arts (Honours / Major) | 4 years | Class XII with A/B/C grades, GPA 2.0/4.0 | IELTS 6.5 |

| Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management | 4 years | Class XII with A/B/C grades, GPA 2.0/4.0 | IELTS 6.5 |
Note the Bachelor of Public Relations is a limited-enrolment program with a separate portfolio interview after academic screening, so Indian applicants should apply well before the primary May 2027 deadline.
Mount Saint Vincent University PhD Admissions
MSVU runs two doctoral streams — the PhD in Educational Studies and the Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) — both housed in the Faculty of Education. Doctoral admission is by cohort and interview, with fixed February 2027 deadlines for the September 2027 start.
MSVU PhD Educational Studies Timeline
The PhD in Educational Studies opens on 1 October 2026 for September 2027 entry and closes on 15 February 2027. Applicants submit a research proposal (about 1,500 words), a Master’s transcript with 3.5 GPA, two academic references, and a supervisor-endorsement letter. Funding packages of up to CAD 20,000 (INR 13.73 Lakhs) per year are drawn from the Nova Scotia Research and Innovation Scholarship pool.
Mount Saint Vincent PsyD Application Route
The Doctor of Psychology closes earlier — 1 December 2026 — because of a psychology-specific interview stage in January. Applicants need a Master’s in Psychology, a 3.5 GPA, and prerequisite coursework in psychopathology and assessment.
Planning note: Both doctoral streams route through the same MSVU graduate portal, but the PsyD interview panel meets only once in early 2027 — a missed December 2026 deadline pushes an applicant a full year.
Mount Saint Vincent University Application Process
MSVU accepts direct online applications — Nova Scotia does not run a central platform like OUAC or ApplyAlberta, so Indian applicants apply straight to the university portal.
- Create an account and start the form on the MSVU online application portal and select intake plus program.
- Pay the application fee of CAD 80 (around INR 5,493) by credit card on the same portal.
- Upload Class XII marksheets, Bachelor’s transcripts (for PG), and passport bio-page as scanned PDFs.
- Send official IELTS or TOEFL score directly from the test provider to MSVU.
- Courier certified sealed transcripts to the Admissions Office at 166 Bedford Highway, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
- Track document receipt through the applicant portal’s dashboard.
- Indian applicants can email india1@msvu.ca for country-specific support.
Payment is processed in CAD only — Indian applicants should confirm with their card issuer that international transactions are enabled before starting the fee step.
Mount Saint Vincent University Admission Decisions Timeline
Once a file is complete, MSVU releases decisions on a rolling basis — undergraduate offers usually land within 4 to 8 weeks, while graduate decisions can take 10 to 14 weeks because of faculty review.
- Conditional offer: Issued if Class XII results or an English score is pending — the applicant confirms conditions before enrolling.
- Acceptance window: Applicants have 30 days from the offer date to accept or defer.
- Deferral policy: Undergraduate offers may be deferred once by one intake, subject to program capacity.
- Deposit: A tuition deposit is required to lock in the seat and generate the Letter of Acceptance for the study permit.
Mount Saint Vincent University Documents Required
The document set for Indian applicants is standard for Canadian universities — every item is submitted electronically first, with sealed originals mailed for verification.
- Passport bio-page (colour scan, valid at least six months past intake start).
- Class X and Class XII marksheets and passing certificates.
- Bachelor’s transcripts and degree certificate for graduate applicants.
- Official English test score report (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo, or CAEL).
- Statement of Purpose — 500 to 800 words, tied to the specific MSVU program.
- Two academic references on institution letterhead (graduate programs).
- Updated CV or resume with any work experience.
- Portfolio or writing sample where the program requires it (e.g., Public Relations).
- Funding for a study permit — Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) receipt or bank statement.
- Digital passport-size photograph for the applicant record.
Certified copies from an authorised university officer are accepted for the sealed hard-copy step; attested photocopies from a notary are not sufficient.
Mount Saint Vincent University Acceptance Rate for Indian Students
MSVU does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party estimates place it at around 93 percent, based on public admissions data and MSVU’s access-oriented model — the university admits most applicants who meet its stated academic and English requirements.
What Drives an MSVU Rejection
Rejections concentrate on three failure modes — Class XII grades below the A/B/C floor, IELTS scores below 6.5 overall with a band under 6.0, and incomplete transcripts at the deadline. Indian applicants who miss the score by 0.5 in one band can retake IELTS and update the file before decisions release.
Mount Saint Vincent Competitive Programs
The Bachelor of Public Relations, PsyD, and Master’s in School Psychology sit below the 93 percent institutional band because of limited cohort caps and interview stages. Indian applicants for these streams should treat the deadlines as firm and match the higher IELTS 7.0 grad floor where relevant. MSVU sits mid-band in Canadian primarily undergraduate universities — see the ranking band for context.
Insider note: A 93 percent headline rate does not mean automatic entry for every program. Competitive tracks like Public Relations and PsyD run their own screens on top of the institutional floor, and Indian applicants for those streams see closer to 60 to 70 percent admit odds.
Canada Student Visa Process for Mount Saint Vincent University Applicants
Indian students admitted to MSVU apply for a Canada Study Permit through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), typically via the Student Direct Stream (SDS), which offers priority processing for Indian applicants. The permit requires a Letter of Acceptance from MSVU, a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) from Nova Scotia, and financial proof.
Applicants file online, submit biometrics at a VFS Global centre in India, and pay a study permit fee of CAD 150 (around INR 10,299) plus biometrics of CAD 85 (INR 5,836). Financial proof under SDS requires a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of CAD 20,635 (INR 14.17 Lakhs) from a Scotiabank, ICICI, or approved Canadian bank, plus first-year tuition receipt. SDS processing runs 20 calendar days on average when the file is complete.
2026 update: Nova Scotia issues Provincial Attestation Letters through MSVU directly — the university includes the PAL with the Letter of Acceptance for eligible international students, so Indian applicants do not chase a separate provincial application.
Tips and Checklist for Mount Saint Vincent University Admissions
The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Mount Saint Vincent University over recent cycles — timing, common misses, and where to route effort.
- Book IELTS 8 weeks before the deadline: Score release plus MSVU document verification eats about a month.
- Target the September (Fall) primary intake: Program choice is widest here — Winter and Summer run only a UG subset.
- Apply for the March 1 scholarship deadline: Entrance awards close well before intake — see funding options for Indian students.
- Request transcripts 8 weeks before your deadline: Indian boards run 4 to 6 week turnarounds for sealed originals.
- Confirm program prerequisites in Class XII: B.Sc. Nutrition and BBA reject applications missing Biology or Mathematics.
- Route India-specific queries through india1@msvu.ca: Faster than the general admissions inbox for document questions.
- Line up GIC funds before the offer arrives: Study permit filing needs the GIC receipt within 20 days of acceptance.
- File biometrics within 15 days of study permit submission: Delayed biometrics stall the SDS 20-day clock.
Mount Saint Vincent University’s admissions cycle rewards early filers — the primary September 2027 intake opens 21 September 2026, the January 2027 UG extended deadline closes 6 November 2026, and Indian applicants who lock IELTS, transcripts, and GIC funding by mid-October land offers with room to file the study permit before intake.

- My chosen program curriculum is designed such well manner with the opportunity to learning with small peers and amazing professor student ratio in a class with spectacular east coast views of Canada.
Overview
I love being east coast with beautiful water views and amazing classrooms with excellent teachers and wonderful peers.
Overview
It is very small and intimate, being from a small town that is important. MSVU also has a well-known psychology program, which is what I wanted to take. I love the location, and everything about it there (except for the awful parking).
Scholarship
Yes. An entrance scholarship in which required my GPA be 3.3 or above after my first year In order to renew it. I had a 3.2 so I just missed it. I think they set the bar a bit high for that. The first year is all new and is tough. Should start at 3.0 then go to 3.3 for third-year renewal maybe. Also, I have gotten an in-class bursary.
