Trinity Western University Eligibility for Indian Students

Trinity Western University treats Indian secondary and Bachelor’s qualifications as directly comparable to Canadian equivalents when translated to the university’s percentage and GPA thresholds. The undergraduate floor is set by Class XII from a CBSE, ICSE or recognised State board; the graduate floor is set by GPA in the final two years of a Bachelor’s degree.

  • UG general entry: Class XII from a recognised board with an aggregate of around 65 percent in five academic subjects.
  • PG general entry: Recognised four-year Bachelor’s (or a three-year Bachelor’s with a Master’s for research-track programmes) with GPA 3.0 or higher in the last two years — roughly 65 to 70 percent in Indian terms.
  • UG English floor: IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in Writing/Reading and 5.5 in Speaking/Listening; TOEFL iBT 88; PTE Academic 65; Duolingo 120.
  • PG English floor: IELTS 7.5 all bands; TOEFL iBT 105; PTE Academic 73; Duolingo 140.
  • Direct entry with support (U1): IELTS 6.0 overall or TOEFL iBT 78 admits into 27 credits of regular coursework with weekly language coaching.

Trinity Western University IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

Trinity Western University publishes two IELTS exemptions that Indian applicants can use.

  • Three-year English medium waiver: Completion of three consecutive years of full-time education taught in English in an approved country — India is on the approved list for many CBSE/ICSE English-medium schools, subject to verification of the medium of instruction on the transcript.
  • Trinity Language Centre (TLC) pathway: Applicants below the English floor can enrol at the TLC Richmond campus, get placed by internal assessment, and progress into degree study once the required ESL level is cleared.

Trinity Western University PG Programs and Requirements

Trinity Western University’s graduate portfolio is concentrated in the School of Graduate Studies, with strong Indian-applicant interest in Leadership, Nursing, Linguistics, Education Studies and Interdisciplinary Humanities. Base tuition for the smaller Master’s programmes runs from around CAD 20,850 (about INR 14.49 Lakhs) upwards; for a detailed tuition-by-course fee breakdown, see the fees page.

Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official Trinity Western University graduate international applicants page for your chosen program before applying.

Insider note: The Graduate Transition Program lets applicants with IELTS 6.0 (Writing 6.0+) start a four-month English pathway and then enter MBA or MA Leadership — a useful backup if a retake is uncertain.

Trinity Western University UG Programs and English Scores

Trinity Western University MBA Admissions

Trinity Western University offers three MBA variants — a full-time MBA with a specialisation in International Business, an MBA specialisation in Non-Profit and Charitable Organisations, and an Executive MBA (EMBA) — all delivered over roughly 17 months and 45 semester hours. Fall (September) is the main entry point, and GMAT is optional for applicants with a strong academic record.

Trinity Western University MBA Experience and Interview

The full-time MBA has no fixed years-of-experience floor — a resume with internships or early-career roles strengthens the file. The Executive MBA requires 10 or more years of professional experience with at least five years in a management role. Shortlisted applicants are invited to a phone or video assessment, typically scheduled within two to four weeks of a complete application. Refer to the funding options for Indian students for MBA-specific scholarships such as the TWU Alumni MBA Scholarship (up to CAD 5,000, around INR 3.47 Lakhs) and the EMBA Entrance Scholarship (up to CAD 10,000, around INR 6.95 Lakhs).

Trinity Western University Application Process

Every applicant — undergraduate and graduate — files through the apply.twu.ca portal. Trinity Western University uses its own online application rather than a national platform, so there is no OUAC or EducationPlannerBC step for TWU.

  1. Create an applicant account on the apply.twu.ca portal and select the programme, campus (Langley or Richmond) and intake term.
  2. Pay the application fee of CAD 150 (around INR 10,424) online, or CAD 190 (around INR 13,203) if submitting on paper.
  3. Upload personal details, academic history, and a Statement of Faith or personal statement per programme guidelines.
  4. Arrange for official transcripts to be sent — Indian degrees issued outside Canada or the US must go through a WES (World Education Services) or IQAS credential evaluation.
  5. Submit English-test scores via the testing agency’s electronic reporting system.
  6. Provide two references — one academic, one professional for graduate programmes; two academic for undergraduate applications.
  7. Complete the video or phone interview if invited (mandatory for MBA shortlists).
  8. Monitor the "My Application" section of the portal for status changes and conditional offer letters.

Trinity Western University Admission Decisions

Trinity Western University reviews complete files on a rolling basis and typically issues an admission decision within four to six weeks of receiving all supporting documents.

  • Offer letter: Conditional offers are emailed through the applicant portal; final transcripts and a valid English score may remain outstanding at this stage.
  • Acceptance window: Admitted international students are asked to accept the offer within 30 days and remit the enrolment deposit.
  • Non-US international deposit: CAD 9,990 (around INR 6.94 Lakhs) is due to confirm the seat and trigger the Confirmation of Enrolment issuance for the study permit.
  • Deferrals: A one-term deferral is available on written request, subject to programme availability in the deferred intake.
  • Conditions: Common conditions include final Class XII marksheets, notarised transcripts, and a valid IELTS/TOEFL score at the required floor.

Documents Required for Trinity Western University Admissions

Indian applicants should assemble the paperwork below before opening the apply.twu.ca portal — most files are uploaded directly and originals are only requested at enrolment. Every document must be in English or accompanied by a certified English translation.

  • Valid Indian passport with at least one year of validity beyond intended entry.
  • Certified copies of Class X and Class XII marksheets and passing certificates.
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate and consolidated transcripts (for PG applicants).
  • WES or IQAS credential evaluation report for the Bachelor’s degree.
  • Official IELTS/TOEFL/PTE/Duolingo score report sent by the testing agency.
  • Statement of Purpose or personal statement (500-800 words for graduate programmes).
  • Two letters of recommendation — one academic and one professional for graduate; two academic for undergraduate.
  • Updated CV or resume listing academics, projects, work experience and extracurriculars.
  • Statement of Faith or Community Covenant acknowledgement, per TWU’s Christian foundation.
  • Financial proof — bank statements or a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) confirmation once the study permit stage begins.
  • Passport-size photographs meeting Canadian visa specifications.

Trinity Western University Acceptance Rate

Trinity Western University does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Independent tracking of international undergraduate cohorts places the figure in the 58 to 68 percent range, based on the university’s stated broad access mission — meaning most academically qualified applicants who meet the published Class XII and English requirements receive an offer.

How competitive is the Master of Science in Nursing?

The MSN is the most selective graduate programme owing to a fixed seat count and a mandatory prior nursing registration — the effective acceptance rate here sits well below the institutional average, and applicants below the 3.0 GPA cutoff are rarely admitted.

Trinity Western University Programme-Level Selectivity

The BBA, Communications and Human Kinetics programmes see the highest UG offer rates; the MBA specialisations lie in the middle band, favouring applicants with clear career goals; and MSN, MA Linguistics and MA Interdisciplinary Humanities are the tightest gates. For a full ranking band view against Canadian peers, see the ranking page.

Insider note: Applicants who narrowly miss GPA or English floors should consider the U1 with-support entry (UG) or the Graduate Transition Program (PG) instead of skipping the cycle — both preserve a September start.

Canada Student Visa for Trinity Western University Applicants

Indian students admitted to Trinity Western University apply for the Canadian study permit under IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada). The Student Direct Stream (SDS) route was retired for Indian applicants in November 2024, so all Indian students now file under the standard study-permit stream, which requires a fuller financial and documentation package.

The permit application is filed online on the IRCC portal after the TWU Letter of Acceptance is issued. Applicants pay the study permit fee of CAD 150 (around INR 10,424) and the biometrics fee of CAD 85 (around INR 5,907), and complete biometrics at a Visa Application Centre in India. Financial proof requires a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) of CAD 20,635 (around INR 14.34 Lakhs) plus first-year tuition receipts. Processing typically takes 8 to 14 weeks, so file at least four months before the September intake. On arrival in British Columbia, register with the BC Medical Services Plan within the first three months of study.

2026 update: IRCC’s national study-permit cap for 2026 was set at 437,000 approvals in January 2026 — Indian applicants should file complete GIC and tuition-payment proof upfront to avoid rejection under the tightened cap.

Tips and Checklist for Trinity Western University Admissions

The pointers below are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Trinity Western University over the last three intakes — a mix of scheduling insights and dated action steps.

  • Choose your intake by programme, not season: MSN and MA Interdisciplinary Humanities have hard Spring/Fall dates while MA Leadership is genuinely rolling — pick accordingly.
  • Book the IELTS 10 weeks before your target deadline: the Academic slot at India centres is often booked out; a retake to lift Writing from 6.5 to 7.0 needs a further four-week buffer for MBA/PG.
  • Start WES 8 weeks ahead: the course-by-course evaluation of an Indian Bachelor’s typically takes 20 to 35 business days once documents reach WES Canada.
  • Request academic references by end-February for Fall 2027: Indian faculty often prefer a paper draft before submitting via the TWU portal.
  • Fund the GIC only after the LoA arrives: Scotiabank, ICICI Canada and CIBC accept the CAD 20,635 (around INR 14.34 Lakhs) GIC — process it inside four weeks before biometrics.
  • Confirm the Community Covenant early: TWU’s faith-informed statement is part of the application; read it once before you start the SoP.
  • Line up the deposit before decision day: the CAD 9,990 (around INR 6.94 Lakhs) non-US international deposit is payable within 30 days of the offer — arrange a wire in advance.
  • File the study permit by mid-May for a September start: the standard-stream 8-to-14-week window means a July filing risks a deferred entry.

Trinity Western University suits Indian applicants who value small class sizes, a faith-informed campus and predictable rolling review — Fall 2027 is the widest window, but MSN and MA Interdisciplinary Humanities Spring 2027 dates in October and November 2026 close soonest. Line up WES, IELTS and references now, and pay the CAD 150 (around INR 10,424) application fee once documents are ready to upload together.

Overview

Trinity Western University is one of the best universities I've come across in my educational background, the course design is classic and the knowledge imparted is of practical use in our life. Professors are well qualified and really go beyond the expectations for education. They really want to create and leave a better impact after every class.

Overview

Undoubtedly, it has been a wonderful experience. I gained a new perspective on the world as a whole throughout my time studying abroad among students of many cultures and ethnicities. In retrospect, the experiences I've had at this university have been invaluable. It is difficult to put into words, yet studying overseas offers unparalleled knowledge and insight. The nicest thing about attending a university is that, well, you think you go there to just study, but really, you learn a lot every day since these places exist to develop you as a better human being in addition to helping you educate. How you choose to take advantage of that chance will determine your level of success.

Overview

At Trinity Western University it is super enjoyable to study here. TWU offers lot of good resources for their students. Professors are very well experienced and all are subject matter experts. Apart from this the university also organises the events on the regular intervals of time. University provided me the on campus accommodation and also offered the meal plan. The gymnastics is also a plus point and is free for all students.

Overview

I have had a very pleasant experience at my University. Even though the studies are tough then in India, the faculty is very helpful and even the other students are very friendly with me. The staff has always helped me get through any situation. The grading system is also very fair and unbiased. The campus is very peaceful. The free printing helps me with managing my assignments budget. The only issue is that the bus facilities are very poor in the city where my University is located.

Scholarship

I haven't received any scholarship before migrating. My university do offers some scholarships to students but that is applied on the fees of the 2nd year of studies.
