Hello, Let me start by saying that all these institutions are Indian Institutes of “Management” and not Indian Institutes of “Business.” With that in mind, the aim of IIMs is to flourish and complement the development of the region where they are located. Now, I’ll address your question with a focus on IIM Udaipur, without undermining any other institute mentioned or not mentioned in the question. IIM Udaipur is fortunate to have attracted top-notch faculty in finance and other fields. Why is that? Simple! The director has a strong background, being an alumnus of IIM Bangalore and having served as a respected professor there before taking the helm at IIM Udaipur. Consequently, many of our permanent faculty members hail from IIM Bangalore. Additionally, being the closest IIM to Ahmedabad, we benefit from a significant number of visiting faculty from IIM Ahmedabad. When discussing finance, we cannot overlook the expertise of a renowned finance professor who is also involved in the entrepreneurship cell and the incubation center of the Institute. Ans. IIM Udaipur boasts some of the best professors from older IIMs teaching marketing electives as visiting faculty. The Director of IIM Udaipur is very dynamic. And remember, an IIM is an IIM - the experience here is hard to match against most other institutes, except for other tier 1 schools like XLRI, SP Jain, FMS Delhi (which is not a residential program), NITIE, TAPMI, etc. DoMS at IIT Madras offers a solid MBA program and may have decent placements as well. The institute has been around for more than 50 years, with an alumni network close to 50,000. Some of the marketing faculty there are excellent. You should definitely check the list of marketing electives offered at both institutes before making a final decision. Ultimately, it's your choice whether you want to join the IIT alumni network (23 institutes, over 300,000 alumni across diverse fields) or the IIM network (20 institutes, around 70,000 alumni mostly in business roles). Ans. IIM Udaipur’s MBA program has been quite an eye-opener for me. The faculty and infrastructure are good, and the curriculum is similar to the older IIMs. The first year is quite manageable, and I found the exams to be easier than I expected. Campus life is exceptional; there are 34 clubs, and everyone seems to be part of at least one. We celebrate all festivals, and events like Solaris and TEDx keep the vibe lively. When it comes to placements, they are okayish. The average package is about 19.5 Lakh , but do keep in mind that internships can be a letdown sometimes. You might end up with an internship paying only around 4 Lakh , which is on the lower side. Scholarships are available, but they mainly cater to reserved categories.Read more
