Ques. Which is better for an MBA IMT Ghaziabad or DMS IITD?

Ans. Department of Management Studies or DMS IIT Delhi is one of the top 5 management colleges in the country. DMS IIT Delhi is known for its flagship full-time MBA and MBA Telecom programs. Admission to these courses is entrance based. The college accepts CAT scores and the application can be filled out online by visiting the DMS IIT Delhi website. The minimum cutoff for MBA and MBA Telecom Program at DMS IIT Delhi is 90 percentile. However, the actual cutoff for admission remains around the 98-99 percentile. As compared to IMT Ghaziabad, DMS IITD is a way better option to pursue an MBA. But admission is definitely harder than that of IMT Ghaziabad. Ans. While many MBA aspirants consider nothing better than IIMs, I have an altogether different opinion in this regard. This opinion stems from my sister's experience last year when she completed her MBA from DMS, IIT Delhi. IIT Delhi is a magical place that harnesses your talents to the fullest and helps you identify your strengths and overcome your weaknesses. An excellent peer group promotes healthy competition and growth  The overall ambiance and culture at the IIT combined with the rich alumni base make it possible to gain an enriching experience. The older the institute and program the more brand value it carries. IITs MBA program dates back to 1997 and fulfills this age criterion excellently. The most important is the fees which are less than half the fees of other top B Schools. This results in great return on investment with the placements being almost on par with most B Schools The small batch size of 120 promotes great peer interactions as well as student-teacher relations. I certainly don’t mean to undermine the B schools, what I mean is IIT Delhi DMS is not that bad an idea for an MBA.Read more

Ans. When it comes to choosing a business school, the competition is fierce and the options can be overwhelming. Three institutes that are considered to be among the top in the country are the Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSOM) at IIT Kharagpur, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi, and the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS). If you are interested in an operations profile, then VGSOM is a great choice. It is considered to be one of the best institutes in the country for operations specialization, after NITIE. Additionally, the return on investment (ROI) is high. IIM Ranchi, on the other hand, may have a lower average package compared to the other two institutes, but it has the prestige of the IIM tag and a decent profile. The hostels are also fabulous, with single rooms available for students. NMIMS is considered to be more costly and the batch strength is over 500 students. The top 150-200 students get superb packages and roles that are at par with other top B-schools, however, the next lot of students may have a lot of start-ups, etc. If you want to play safe, VGSOM or IIM Ranchi might be the best option. However, if you are willing to take a risk, NMIMS might be a good choice as the profiles there are really good. It's ultimately up to you to decide which institute aligns best with your career goals and objectives. Ans. There are some assumptions that help to select any business school. And they're valid for all top business schools at least the top 20. Go through these assumptions and see which B-Schools are closest to them. The table given below shows a detailed overview of the institutes. Particulars IIT Kharagpur VGSoM IMI Median Salary Rs 16.29 LPA Rs 27.5 LPA Entrance Criteria CAT CAT/GMAT Fees Rs. 10,82,000 Rs. 27,00,000 Deciding Factor: Many Business schools today are student-driven businesses and it has nothing to do with anyone else. No other factors such as faculty, infrastructure, knowledge capital do not matter as much. If the infrastructure were the issue then FMS or JBIMS would have been a long way behind. Most of the reputed B-Schools are all about their students, clubs, events, committees, placement drives, etc.  Alumni is one of the most important factors to consider for choosing a B-School. That is why many management institutes like FMS, JBIMS, IMT- GZBD thrives. What activity you are deciding on, in an enterprise college is categorized into clubs and committees, business college events (this one receives you plenty of prize cash too), academics (good academics and accurate CGPA offers better placements). Rankings no longer matter much for the pinnacle 10–15 schools. Placements depend a lot on alumni base and past history. For most business schools the percentage of companies coming back for placement is around 50%. It is all about reinventing the contacts and alumni are the best options for that.  You may hear a certain institute is better for Finance or Marketing. Which is not entirely true. Placement depends on hard work. Go through the factors given above and choose the institute that fits these factors.Read more
