Question 1

Is there a service bond for MD/MS students at MGIMS Wardha, and what happens if I do not complete it?

Accepted Answer

Yes, all PG students at MGIMS Wardha must sign a mandatory one-year service bond before enrolling. The penalty for not completing the bond is ?50,00,000. Bond service can be fulfilled with the Government of Maharashtra, a local self-government body, Defence services, or the Kasturba Health Society network, which includes the college hospital at Sevagram. This is one of the most common concerns applicants have and should be factored in before choosing MGIMS.

Question 2

Does MGIMS Wardha have any management quota or NRI quota for MD/MS seats?

Accepted Answer

No. MGIMS Wardha does not offer management quota or NRI quota seats for any PG programme. Every MD, MS, and Post Graduate Diploma seat is filled exclusively through NEET PG merit and centralized counselling, with 50% through MCC All India Quota and 50% through CETCELL Maharashtra state quota. This is a firm institutional policy with no exceptions.

Question 3

Is the monthly stipend at MGIMS Wardha lower than at Maharashtra government medical colleges?

Accepted Answer

Yes. MGIMS is trust-run rather than a full state government college, so the stipend is set at the Kasturba Health Society rate. PG residents at MGIMS receive ?65,800 per month across all three years. Maharashtra government medical colleges pay stipends in the range of ?92,000 to ?94,000 per month. The difference is real and worth considering if stipend income is a significant factor in your decision.

Question 4

Does the Gandhian Philosophy aptitude test apply to MD/MS admissions at MGIMS?

Accepted Answer

The aptitude test on Gandhian thoughts applies to MBBS admissions at MGIMS, not to PG admissions. For MD, MS, and Post Graduate Diploma programmes, the admission process is purely NEET PG rank-based through MCC and CETCELL Maharashtra counselling. There is no separate institutional test for PG candidates.

Question 5

Which MD/MS specializations at MGIMS Wardha are the most competitive to get into?

Accepted Answer

Radiodiagnosis fills at the highest rank level among all specializations at MGIMS, followed by General Medicine, General Surgery, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Preclinical specializations such as Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacology fill at much lower competition levels, sometimes at ranks above 50,000 in the All India Quota based on 2024 counselling data. If you are targeting a clinical seat at MGIMS, plan your NEET PG preparation with this spread in mind.

Question 6

How does the 50% AIQ and 50% state quota split work at MGIMS?

Accepted Answer

Half of all MGIMS PG seats fall under the MCC All India Quota, open to NEET PG qualifiers from any state. The remaining half are Maharashtra state quota seats, filled through CETCELL Maharashtra counselling. Candidates from outside Maharashtra can access seats only through AIQ. Maharashtra domicile candidates can register on both portals simultaneously and accept whichever allotment suits them. Both counselling processes run concurrently after NEET PG results are declared in October 2026.
