GCETTS B.Tech {Lateral}: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. GCETT Serampore offers four specializations under B.Tech Lateral Entry: Apparel Production Management, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, and Textile Technology. All are MAKAUT-affiliated and AICTE-approved. Diploma holders enter directly into the second year and complete the degree in three years.

Ans. Total fees for the three-year B.Tech Lateral programme at GCETT Serampore range from INR 22,900 for Textile Technology to INR 78,400 for Information Technology. B.Tech Lateral in Apparel Production Management and CSE each cost INR 41,400 for three years. GCETT is a government institution with subsidized fees. Hostel is optional and charged separately.

Ans. Admission to B.Tech Lateral Entry at GCETT Serampore is through JELET 2026 (West Bengal Joint Entrance Lateral Entry Test), conducted by WBJEEB. Diploma holders appear for JELET and then participate in centralised counselling to select GCETT and their preferred specialization. JELET 2026 was held on June 13, 2026, with results expected in Early July 2026.

Ans. Candidates must hold a 3-year Diploma in Engineering or Technology in the relevant branch from a recognised polytechnic with at least 45 percent aggregate marks. A valid JELET 2026 score is mandatory. SC/ST students from West Bengal may receive relaxation in marks as per WB government norms.

Ans. Graduates can enter textile manufacturing, garment production, IT services, and engineering roles depending on specialization. CSE and IT lateral graduates pursue software and systems positions. Textile and APM graduates target production planning and quality control in mills and apparel units. All graduates are eligible for GATE and PSU recruitment examinations.

Ans. GCETT Serampore ranks 268 in Collegedunia’s 2025 India Engineering Colleges list. Established in 1908, it is one of the oldest engineering institutions in West Bengal. The college is affiliated to MAKAUT and is AICTE-approved.
