The Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology (GCECT) was established in the year 1941and is funded by Government .It was formerly called as College of Ceramic Technology (CCT). 

  • It is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology
  • It is upgraded to UGC autonumous instititution
  • Information Technology and Ceramic Technology are accredited by NBA.
  • It is IBM Software Center of Excellence
  • Admissions are on the basis of WBJEE

Placements: College has seen 100% placement for last year students. Students are recruited by various famous companies like Essar Steel, Steel Authority of India, MECON, Jindal South West Steel, Cognizant, TCS, Wipro, Infosys etc. In year 2011 Student from ceramic technology got highest package of Rs.6.98 lakh/annum and IT/CSE student got Rs. 4.5 lakh/annum.

I have come of a very poor family.I never thought i would be an engineer in very first of my life.anyway i got free education secondary & higher secondary level in a missionary school.I sit for jee main in 2013 & score 135 marks out of 360 & got a chance for JEE advance but poverty refrain me sit for the jee advance probably it was rs 1500 for next round entry.However on that year i sit for wb jee & ranked 6205 .It was not at all satisfactory for me coz i have better preparation.However i must have to be an engineer though it was not my passion but my family conditions compel me to take the subject whatever i get based on rank & of course in govt college.However i got textile technology but ...
