MIT Manipal: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 1 Reviews

Admission to VIT is determined through the CET exam, focusing on physics, chemistry, and mathematics. The faculty includes both PhD aspirants and holders, although more experienced staff is needed for improved teaching effectiveness. The annual fee is around 4 lakh INR for bachelor's programs and 1.8 lakh INR for master's programs, with variations depending on the chosen branch.

The placement offers were limited, as the department is new, established only 3 to 4 years ago, and it is multidisciplinary. However, about 50% of students secured paid internships. The college supports student loans with favorable interest rates from Syndicate Bank, and additional loan options are available from South Indian Bank and Federal Bank.

MIT Manipal: 2 Answered Questions

What is the total expenditure for a BTech course in Manipal Institute of Technology, Karnataka?

Sapna Malik
Shyam VermaComputer Science, and Engineering, MIT Manipal

Here is a rough estimate of the total expenditure for a BTech course at MIT Karnataka.

  • Total Tuition Fees ( BTech): INR 18.62 Lakhs
  • Hostel + Mess fees: Around 4–5 Lacs depending on the hostel you choose
  • Travel expense: On average you will be spending 750-1000 per month. So the cost of a 9-month stay for 4 years will be 1000*36= INR 36000
  • Travel expense from home to college: This varies from person to person because if you live far away, you will have to travel by airplane. Assuming, you will be taking 4 trips a year, the cost will be around 1 Lakh.
  • Misclieous Expenses: Around INR 5000 per month. So 5000 x 9 x 4 = 180000 INR.

The above estimate does take into account the money you spend partying or going on trips. Also, it's important to note that the above estimate is purely based on my speculations and may vary from person to person.

Which one is better for a BTech course: BITS Pilani or Manipal Institute of Technology Karnataka?

Bidita GhoseLives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

It's highly illogical to compare a Tier-1 engineering college like BITS to a Tier-2 university like Manipal Institute of Technology.

One cannot compare universities like Manipal, VIT, SRM, Jaypee, Amity, etc. to IIT, NIT, and BITS. These colleges have no brand value of their own and most of the people coming here are those who failed to qualify for competitive exams like JEE/BITSAT/AIEEE/etc. Moreover, the exposure and opportunities offered at BITS are unmatched. It's probably the only private engineering college that enjoys excellent global recognition too.

Irrespective of the branch you go for, the BITS Pilani degree has similar value everywhere. The BITS alumni network is great with some of them being co-founders of Redbus, Hotmail, etc.

Here is a brief comparison of these institutes
